(UFC) Vitor Belfort Withdraws from UFC 173 Amidst TRT Ban; Chris Weidman Now Faces Lyoto Machida

Following the Nevada State Athletic Commission’s unanimous vote to ban testosterone replacement therapy, Vitor Belfort has withdrawn from UFC 173, officials announced on Thursday evening.

In Belfort’s place, Lyoto Machida will fight UFC middleweight champion Chris Weidman on the upcoming pay-per-view card, which takes place May 24.

UFC president Dana White said Machida earned the title shot after dominating his last two fights after dropping to the middleweight division from the 205-pound ranks.

(NBA) Caron Butler to sign with Thunder

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- Caron Butler has agreed to sign with the Oklahoma City Thunder, according to a person close to the situation.

The person spoke on condition of anonymity Friday because the deal had not been finalized.

The Milwaukee Bucks agreed to a contract buyout with the 33-year-old forward Thursday and waived him. The source says Butler is expected to sign with Oklahoma City after he clears waivers Saturday.

(UFC) TUF China Finale Results: Dong Hyun Kim Wins with Stunning Spinning Knockout

The “Stun Gun,” Dong Hyun Kim, stole the show at The Ultimate Fighter China Finale on Saturday at the CotaiArena in Macao, China.

Kim and John Hathaway both opened ready to end their main event fight early. Hathaway launched some solid knees to the body, but Kim rocked him with a wide right hand that had him staggered. Hathaway recovered and the two fighters traded blows throughout much of the round before Kim dropped Hathaway in the final two minutes of the opening stanza. Kim followed Hathaway down and tried to finish with a flurry, but Hathaway defended well from his back, Kim eventually allowing him to his feet as the round wound down.

(Formula One) Full Michael Schumacher recovery 'unlikely'

The 45-year-old Schumacher fell while skiing in France and hit the right side of his head on a rock, cracking his helmet.

Doctors operated to remove blood clots from his brain but some were left because they were too deeply embedded.

Schumacher's condition stabilized after he was placed in the coma and doctors began the process of withdrawing sedatives to try to wake him up.

(UAAP Volleyball) Ateneo soars back to Finals after clipping NU in four sets

MANILA, Philippines - The Ateneo de Manila University Lady Eagles overcame a twice-to-beat disadvantage as they sent National University's Finals hopes crashing, 25-22, 8-25, 25-19, 25-22, and set a date with De La Salle in the Last Dance of the 76th UAAP Women's Volleyball tournament, Saturday, March 1 at the Smart-Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City.

After tallying in a personal season-high of 29 points in her last outing, there is no stopping for Alyssa Valdez as she emerged once more for the Katipunan-based side, scattering 22 markers from 16 attacks, five blocks and an ace to lead Ateneo to its seventh straight win and book a ticket back to the Finals.

(UFC) Filipino MMA fighter Mark Eddiva decisions Tuerxun in UFC debut

SINGAPORE – When the UFC made its way back to Southeast Asia in 2014, Team Lakay got a few calls from the US-based MMA promotion to sign some of its fighters. One of those calls was for 28-year old Mark Eddiva.

On Saturday, March 1 at the Cotai Arena in Macau, China, Eddiva (6-0, 3KOs, 2 submissions) decisioned local favorite Jumabieke “The Wild Wolf” Tuerxun (17-1) at UFC Fight Night 37.

All three judges scored the match 30-27 for Eddiva of Baguio City, Philippines in a battle of debuting unbeaten featherweights.

(UFC) Junior dos Santos vs. Stipe Miocic to Co-Main Event UFC 173

A heavyweight bout between former title holder Junior dos Santos and up-and-coming contender Stipe Miocic has been added to UFC 173, a UFC official confirmed to MMAWeekly.com on Monday evening.

As first reported by the Las Vegas Review Journal, the dos Santos-Miocic affair will stand as the co-main event for the card, which is scheduled for May 24 in Las Vegas.

NEW YORK (AP) -- Andy Murray smiled a few times during his match at Madison Square Garden.

This is a player who rarely cracks a grin after winning Grand Slam titles, but Monday night's meeting with friend and rival Novak Djokovic was an exhibition, and even Murray was happy to play along.

Djokovic won 6-3, 7-6 (2) as the two mixed the usual exhibition hijinks with some long rallies reminiscent of their epic Grand Slam matchups.

(US NCAA) Wiggins brothers ready to put stamp on March

WICHITA, Kan. (AP) -- Nick Wiggins stood on the court at Koch Arena with one arm around mom, the other around dad, his second-ranked Shockers having just finished a 31-0 regular season.

Now, with the NCAA tournament right around the corner, the two brothers - and their teams - are ready to become the story of March.

Wichita State heads into the Missouri Valley Conference tournament this week riding the best start since UNLV in 1991, while the fifth-ranked Jayhawks have wrapped up the outright Big 12 title - the 10th straight championship for the storied program.

(UAAP Volleyball) Inspired Ateneo shocks La Salle in Game 1

MANILA, Philippines -- The fairy tale run of the Ateneo Lady Eagles continued as they stunned the three-time defending champions De La Salle Lady Spikers in four sets to claim Game 1 of the UAAP Season 76 women's volleyball finals Wednesday at the SMART Araneta Coliseum.

Showing that they were not just an Alyssa Valdez team, rookie Michelle Morente and and veteran Amy Ahomiro came up big for Ateneo as they bucked a poor opening set to win 17-25, 25-23, 25-13, and 25-20.
