MANILA, Philippines — Manila just gained worldwide notoriety anew for being the country with the worst traffic condition according to a new survey by traffic navigation app Waze.

In the first-ever Global Driver Satisfaction Index, Manila ranked the lowest score in Traffic Index at 0.4 (lowest score is one). The city of Rennes in France ranked first, followed by Greensboro and Grand Rapids in the US.

“On a city level, Manila reported the worst traffic on Earth,” Waze said.

The Philippines as a country also ranked last in country rankings with a similar score of 0.4. The best country to drive was Netherlands, followed by Slovakia, and Sweden.

The traffic index rating came from data indicating traffic jam length, time of commute to home and work, and speed at rush hours.

Manila and the Philippines also ranked last, with a score of 0, for the Socio-economic Index, which relies on data on gas prices, such as impact on gas price on living, and access to cars, which compares ratio of cars to population.

Waze said they based the study from the driving experience of their 50 million users across 32 countries.

saw this in the news this evening... and sad to say i have to agree... going from one place to another within the metro is stressful... let's hope the next administration would be able to at least lessen the problem...

  expected naman yan.... manner of driving in other countries differs from the true blooded pinoy... iba ang pinoy kasi, walang disiplina kaya hayan hindi alam ng mga dayuhan ang tamang pag drive sa Manila, bara-bara style tayo kasi...

on the other hand, medyo hindi ako agree din on Manila being at the worst spot, mas may malala pa sa atin gaya nung nasa chart, malamang 'sinadya' na tayo ang ihuli, kung bakit? hmmm... please note that the Philippines ranks first in terms of mobile usage, kasama na dyan ang texting and mobile web surfing/browsing... maybe WAZE is capitalizing on our favorite past time of using the net so that almost all Manila transporters will be downloading WAZE apps, so sana mali din ako at accurate talaga ang findings or surveys nila... medyo grey area lang din sa akin na sa WAZE pa manggaling ang report na yan at hindi sa independent body or bodies.... kudos sa TS at napag-isip din ako about this topic....

nung nabansagan na worst airport ang NAIA ni-renovate ito ng husto. ngayon naman worst traffic tayo, ano kayang renovation ang uubra dito.

nung 80s naaalala ko may naka-paskil pang speed limit sa edsa, 80 kph max. ganun kaluwag ang edsa nun.

kaya nung may flight ako papunta dito i did not take chances, nag check in ako sa hotel malapit sa airport. kahit trapik nakarating pa rin ako sa departure area within 25 minutes. tapos habang nasa hotel, e di malapit na rin ako sa MOA kaya nung gabi bago ng flight ko tambay muna ako sa mall hanggang closing.

o diba stress-free, tapos pa-shopping shopping pa bago ang flight hehe.

I enjoy driving pero I always take pass if I have to drive in Manila. Screw that noise, it's not worth the aggravation.

Traffic na nga, huli pa ng huli ng walang katuturan, usually ang na dadale yung mga dayo.

worst traffic, highest electricity rate in asia, recently worst airport, slowest internet speed, one of the most expensive international calls to make to and from philippines, etc, etc. hay naku pilipino kinakatay ang kapwa pilipino nito. when can we get our act together.
