Pia Wurtzbach to Miss Colombia: You're an amazing woman

MANILA, Philippines — Miss Universe Pia Wutzbach of the Philippines sent a message to Miss Colombia Ariadna Gutierrez four days after the Miss Universe fiasco.

On Monday (Philippine time) Miss Universe host Steve Harvey had a mistake in announcing the winner of the pageant. He first called Miss Colombia, but later clarified that it was Miss Philippines who should be crowned Miss Universe.

"To Ariadna, you are an amazing woman," Pia said on her Instagram post on Friday. "Now we are bonded together forever by a unique experience."

When they were together preparing for the pageant, Pia said she saw "how strong and beautiful" Ariadna is "inside and out."

She also commended her on how she represented her country with "honor," and said that Colombia is "proud" of what she has achieved.

"Fate has a plan for you, and I'm excited to see what's ahead," she added.

In the end, she asked the public to stop fighting over what happened in the pageant.

"Miss Universe Organization is about uniting empowered women from all over the world," she said.

Pia also pointed out that "arguing and sending hateful messages to each other defeats the whole purpose."

She then thanked everyone who supported her throughout the pageant, and expressed her excitement to start her duties as Miss Universe.

Former Japanese adult video star Maria Ozawa graced the 41st Metro Manila Film Festival Gabi ng Parangal at the Kia Theater in Quezon City on Sunday.

She performed a “sizzling” dance number, as show host Richard Gutierrez described it; a much-needed respite from the tension-filled event that’s marred with controversy after “Honor Thy Father” was disqualified from the Best Picture category of the Christmas film fest.

Ozawa’s entry in local showbiz made headlines earlier this year, and her statement that she’s open to having a Filipino boyfriend while staying in the Philippines tickled the fancy and imaginations of local movie fans and fan boys alike.

Bela Padilla, Yassi Pressman, Ronnie Liang and Mark Bautista, among others, also performed.

Regine Velasquez remains a Kapuso

MANILA, Philippines – Regine Velasquez renewed her contract with GMA-7.

On Monday, the Asia’s Songbird signed a two-year exclusive contract under the Kapuso network.

Present during the contract signing were GMA Chairman and CEO Atty. Felipe L. Gozon, GMA Entertainment TV Senior Vice President Lilybeth G. Rasonable, and Regine’ sister and manager Cacai Velasquez-Mitra.

Included in her contract is an upcoming comedy musical variety show.

This comes after Regine was rumored to be moving to TV5 to join her husband Ogie Alcasid.

Regine recently judged the talent search show “Starstruck." She is also currently hosting the cooking show “Sarap Diva.”

Aside from these projects, Regine is also gearing up for her concert “Royals” together with Martin Nievera, Erik Santos and Angeline Quinto happening on February 13 at the Mall of Asia Arena.

Solenn Heussaff denies marriage reports



15 Jan - Solenn Heussaff has denied previous reports saying she and fiancé Nico Bolzico have tied the knot.

According to Interaksyon, previously, news outlets everywhere reported that the French-Filipina star has married her Argentinian beau last December in Santa Fe, following recent photographs of what seemed to be a family celebration which she posted on Instagram.

But Heussaff, who attended the press conference of her latest movie, "Lakbay2Love", on 13 January, stated that it was just a misunderstanding and that they were just celebrating their engagement.

"We just celebrated in Argentina because I haven't seen Nico's parents in two years," she said.

As for their upcoming wedding, Heussaff said that she has plans to hold the reception in France.

"But not right now. It will be late this year, but really late," she said.

In related news, Heussaff plays the role of a videographer who falls in love with a forester in the new movie, to open in cinemas this February.

Miss Colombia on Miss Universe gaffe: I've moved on, this is our destiny

MANILA, Philippines — A month after his Miss Universe blunder, Steve Harvey finally apologized to Ariadna Gutierrez of Colombia face to face.

Steve met with Ariadna as a guest of the Tuesday episode of his eponymous talk show, the first time since the host mistakenly announced the Colombian beauty queen as the winner of the 64th Miss Universe pageant last month.

"Oh my god, I'm gonna cry," Ariadna told Steve as they embrace on the stage of his talk show.

"I'm sorry, darling. I'm so sorry," Steve replied.

"You're the one person that I really wanted to talk to," he added. "Because of the mistake I made, I put in a spotlight, a place that I never intended to, that I never wanted to happen to anybody."

"I just want to say how sorry I am. I really am. I'm beyond sorry for what happened that night... Really, at the end of the day, I hope we walk away from here all with something special," Steve said.

For her part, Ariadna said she spent a lot of time with her family after the incident but added that she has moved forward.

"I have already moved on. This is our destiny. That's why we are here," she said.

The Colombian said the Miss Universe is a "big deal" in their country, especially since her win would mean a back-to-back victory for Colombia after Paulina Vega won the crown in the previous edition of the pageant.

She was crowned Miss Colombia a month before Paulina won the 63rd Miss Universe crown.

Ariadna also acknowledged that, contrary to reports and rumors, Steve was present during the rehearsals for the pageants.

Ironically, the 22-year-old beauty queen said she was "saying great things" about Steve to the other contestants during rehearsals, prior to the Miss Universe pageant and his infamous mix-up.

"I was saying to the other girls, 'Oh my god, I love Steve Harvey'," she said.

Ariadna also addressed rumors that she was planning to sue Steve for the gaffe during the pageant.

"I'm not going to take away your mansion," Ariadna jokingly told Steve.

"I never thought of suing you. No. That's not who I am," she said, while adding that a lot of lawyers wanted her to sue.

Reminder from Matteo: Don’t shoot!

Curtain-raisers:

- When a young actress got married (date not specified to avoid identification) to her model-boyfriend, she “banned” her own mother from attending…for a good reason: her mom left for abroad a few years ago and never came back. It turned out that she divorced the actress’ father so she could marry another man. The actress was hurting for her father.

- Which brings to mind another showbiz wedding (date also not specified for the same reason) to which the father of the bride was not invited. Of course, the father (based abroad) was hurt. It was “un-Christian” for the couple to have done that, wasn’t it? (Hopefully, time shall have healed whatever wounds there were between the father and his daughter and son-in-law.)

- Airport authorities both here and abroad are puzzled why a bold actor sets off the alarm every time he passes through the x-ray machine, even if he has taken off his belt, jewelry and whatever it is that should be placed on the tray. Still, he sets off the alarm until the authorities discover…to their amusement…what the cause is. Yes, the actor has planted bulitas (tiny bullets) around his private part.


By “don’t shoot!,” Matteo Guidicelli doesn’t mean shoot with a gun but with a camera (especially video).

At the presscon for Tupang Ligaw, his latest indie starrer directed by novelist Rod Santiago for Baby Go (BG) Productions, Matteo was asked what he had to say about actors in six videos (“solo flight”) that have gone viral at the start of the year. (Sources surmised that those six videos must have been shot way, way before and have surfaced on social media only lately.)

Asked if he has one, Matteo answered in jest, “Mayroon ba? Hahahaha!,” adding, “Delikado ang social media so everybody and not just actors should be careful with what we post, not just what we do but what we say because the whole world sees it. Social media is open to everybody.”

It doesn’t mean that Matteo is not active on social media.

“I do have Twitter and Instagram,” he said, “but I’m careful about whatever I post. The thing is don’t shoot na lang, huwag na mag-selfie ng mga private activity.”

He and his girlfriend Sarah Geronimo do exchange tweets but only “innocent” ones. If ever he has something personal to tell Sarah, Matteo said he’d rather do it, yes, personally. “Harap-harapan na lang.”

Just done with one season of Single/Single with Shaina Magdayao, the Cinema One series co-produced by Philippine STAR (Season 2 is coming soon), Matteo is re-inventing himself into an action star in Tupang Ligaw in which he plays a soldier looking for his missing brother (played by Pinoy Big Brother discovery Rico Barrera). The search leads him to Barrio Paraiso ruled by El Diablo (played by Paolo Contis). That’s where the soldier uncovers the truth about his brother’s fate.

Determined to prove himself in the action genre and to justify his being a third choice (after JM de Guzman who bowed out due to personal reasons and Xian Lim who was busy shooting Everything About Her, his Star Cinema movie with Vilma Santos), Matteo refused any “double” for the risky scenes.

“He’s daring,” said Dennis Evangelista who is helping BG Productions. “Matteo is also good in the dramatic scenes. Remember, he is a Best Actor winner for the Cinema One film Saturday Night Chills in 2013. One memorable scene shows him revealing to his mother (played by Suzette Ranillo) the painful truth that his brother is dead.”

Baby Go is so impressed with Matteo’s work on Tupang Ligaw that she’s thinking of casting him in a Visayan movie (90 percent of the dialogue in Cebuano) to be shot in Cebu, Matteo’s hometown.

“They told me that I would be playing a poor fisherman,” disclosed Matteo who must find it challenging to be credible as one because he comes from a well-to-do, influential clan in Cebu (former Chief Justice and Senate President Marcelo Fernan was his grandfather). “I won’t have any problem with the dialogue because I speak fluent Cebuano.”

He also dreams to play a Tarzan-like character. Is he willing to wear only a loincloth?

“Why not?” laughed Matteo who is active in sport, fit and fabulous. After all, he has the body for it. “I’ve already done more daring scenes in the teleserye Paraiso, especially those shot in the sea. Marami ring bed scenes d’un.”

Meanwhile, he’s shooting for Regal Films’ Love Is Blind with co-stars Derek Ramsay and Kiray Celis.

Incidentally, Matteo admitted that he and Sarah have no plans yet for Valentine’s.

“We haven’t thought about it. She’s busy promoting her album and I’m also busy promoting my own album, aside from this movie.”

After Zanjoe Marudo confirmed that his relationship with actress Bea Alonzo has ended, another celebrity couple seems to have ended their relationship as well – John Lloyd Cruz and Angelica Panganiban.

In Saturday’s (January 23, 2016) episode of OMJ on DZMM hosted by Ogie Diaz and MJ Felipe, Ogie said that a common friend (Ogie and John Lloyd) intimated that the relationship between Angelica and John Lloyd is indeed over and the two agreed to remain friends.

Ogie reiterated that on January 14, 2016, he personally ask Angelica regarding her status with John Lloyd to which the actress answered “Kami pa rin”.

But according to the mutual friend of Ogie and John Lloyd, the breakup allegedly happened January 16, 2016.

Pia Wurtzbach says next dream is to be a Bond girl

MANILA, Philippines — The reigning Miss Universe has her eyes set on her next big dream: being a Bond girl.
 
Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach returned home to the Philippines for the first time since her crowning — and that awkward moment when host Steve Harvey mistakenly crowned Miss Colombia instead of her. She says she's using the intense attention she got after that controversy to focus on her causes like fighting HIV and AIDS.
 
She told a news conference Sunday that she plans to be tested for HIV publicly in New York to encourage other people to be tested.
 
Asked about her plans after her reign, Wurtzbach replied: "I might be the next Bond girl, who knows? ... That's the next dream."

Anne Curtis on viral Jasmine-Erwan photo: This is a non-issue



MANILA, Philippines – “It was all an inside joke,” this is how Anne Curtis described the photo of her sister Jasmine Curtis-Smith and Erwan Heussaff hugging each other, which went viral on social media on Tuesday.

On her Twitter account, the Kapamilya actress said that the photo was “wrongly screencapped” from her private social media account.

Anne was sad that the people “reacted maliciously” about the photo and that “such viciousness is being thrown to the people I love.”

She then clarified that “nothing happened, we are all fine. I’m lucky that Erwan treats Jasmine as his own sister.”

In the end, Anne said that it’ll be the last time she’ll talk about the issue and asked the public to “stop saying awful things about my sister & boyfriend.”

Pauleen Luna, Vic Sotto exchange sweet messages on wedding day

MANILA, Philippines – Pauleen Luna and Vic Sotto got extra sweet a few hours before their wedding ceremony.

The couple who will exchange “I dos” today in Alabang was interviewed by Ryan Agoncillo, Lola Nidora and Lola Tidora during the live airing of “Eat Bulaga!” on Saturday.

During Ryan’s interview with Pauleen, the bride got emotional when asked how she feels about her wedding day.

“I'm so excited to be with Vic,” she said. “Pero siyempre, at the same time siyempre mahal na mahal ko yung pamilya ko. Do’n ako nahihirapan.”

The actress is known to have a close relationship with her parents.

When asked for a message to her groom, Pauleen said, “we've prayed for this for quite a while. Marami na tayong napagdaanan. I'm just so blessed that I'm sharing this life with you and I am so happy that I found my home in you."

On the other hand, Vic said his wedding Pauleen just sink in to him when he woke up today.

Asked what gift he prepared for his bride, Vic replied, “ang gift na pinakamagandang maibibigay ko sa kanya ay ang pangakong magsasama kami habang buhay.”

As for his message to Pauleen, he said, “Thank you for loving me for what I am. Kung anuman ‘yong mga pinagdaanan ko, tinanggap niya ako. I highly appreciate that.”

Eat Bulaga co-hosts Tito Sotto and Joey de Leon are the principal sponsors while Ruby Rodriguez serves as the Matron of Honor. Anjo Yllana, Wally Bayola, Jose Manalo, and Paolo Ballesteros are groomsmen and Ryzza Mae Dizon is the flower girl.

Miss Universe 2015 Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach, one of the best friends of Pauleen Luna, although busy with her responsibilities did not miss the event.




More than 200 guests, family and closest friends of the couple attended the simple yet elegant ceremony.
