What is Willie Revillame up to?

That’s the question being popped by those who have been seeing Willie often visiting the office of the Kapuso bigwigs.

For the past few Sundays after the timeslot of Willie’s Sunday show Wowowin was moved an hour ahead (now from 2 to 3 p.m.), right after the network’s new noontime show Sunday PINASaya, its rating has gone higher. The tandem shows now rule the Sunday primetime slot.

Since Willie is mum on his next moves (until finalized), Funfare sources could give only three guesses:

• Is Wowowin on its way to a “higher level” (read: going daily Monday thru Friday before StarStruck)?;

• Willie is a block timer. With Wowowin’s high rating, will GMA go into a 50/50 partnership with Willie?; and

• Are negotiations now on the final stage?

Stay tuned. Don’t change channels.

AlDub vows to top 11M First-Date tweets



Almost but not quite. Already so near but still so far. Within arm’s reach but seems miles away from each other.

AlDub’s first date in last Saturday’s edition of the Eat, Bulaga! kalyeserye netted more than 11 million tweets hours after the show ended overtime, and AlDubNation continued tweeting up to Saturday night. The number is expected to grow by leaps and bounds next Saturday if and when Alden Richards and Yaya Dub/Maine Mendoza finally get within hugging distance of each other…unless Lola Nidora (Wally Bayola) again gets in the way.

Last Saturday’s edition was witnessed by Maine’s parents to whom paid respect by making ‘mano’.

Pauleen Luna reveals how Vic Sotto proposed to her

Preparations are underway for the much awaited wedding between Pauleen Luna and Vic Sotto. Vic Sotto in an earlier statement said the wedding will happen before the end of the year of the goat which is February 2016 according to the Chinese calendar.

During her guesting on Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho (Sunday – September 20, 2015), Pauleen revealed some details on how Vic proposed to her:

“Nothing grand. Just the way he likes it. Kasi kami, very low key kami. We like keeping our relationship simple. One day, nilabas n’ya lang (the engagement ring). Nagulat ako. Sinuot ko, actually… Sabi n’ya, ‘Teka, ako dapat magsusuot sa iyo n’yan!’ And then that’s it.“ said Pauleen.

When asked about the details of their wedding, Pauleen has this to say:

“We’re starting to plan the wedding. Writing down ‘yung mga guest. Nakapili na rin kami ng venue. But the date, to follow” Pauleen said.

Jessy Mendiola denies split with JM De Guzman

MANILA, Philippines — Jessy Mendiola and JM De Guzman are still together, amid rumors that they have broken up.

According to a report by MJ Felipe in ABS-CBN's news program "Bandila" aired Tuesday, the actress said she and JM have not broken up.

However, the report added that Jessy refused to grant "Bandila" a full interview.

Rumors that Jessy and JM have broken up surfaced after the ABS-CBN actress was reportedly involved in the controversial drunken incident with actor Enrique Gil inside a plane en route to London for a show earlier this month.

The two did not attend the Star Magic Ball on September 12, which further fanned the rumors.

Coincidentally, rumors that JM will be replaced in two major projects also surfaced following reports of their breakup.

There are reports that JM will be removed from the ABS-CBN afternoon drama "All of Me" and will be replaced by Albert Martinez.

Albert addressed this issue during the press conference for the upcoming ABS-CBN show "FPJ's Ang Probinsyano," which he is also a part of.

"Hindi ko alam, unless they present a new [proposal]... kasi, sa akin, ang talagang commitment ko lang is doon sa pilot. Now, kung babalik ako, they have to present panibagong [proposal]," he said.

Albert also said: "Right now, ang ano lang namin is 'yung schedule nga nito ('Ang Probinsyano'), so I don't know kung ano ang mangyayari."

"Hopefully, maayos lahat, kasi napakagaling namang artista ni JM, sayang naman. Saka ang ganda ng story, eh. Ayoko nang galawin 'yun, eh.”

A Pang-Masa showbiz column published Wednesday also claims that JM will be replaced in "Walang Forever," the Metro Manila Film Festival entry he is slated to star in with Jennylyn Mercado.

~Sheryl Cruz says Grace Poe is not yet ready to become President in 2016~

Actress Sheryl Cruz does not approved of her cousins decision Grace Poe to run for President in 2016.

In a report published by Manila Standard, Sheryl feels her cousin is still a neophyte and need to hone her skills more for the position.

“She’s not yet ready for the task, for the big responsibility. Everybody in your family is special to you [but] you don’t want to see somebody having a hard time most especially running the country,” Cruz said.

“I know her because we grew up together. There are actually things that you have to actually wait for,” added Sheryl.

Sheryl Cruz is the daughter of Rosemarie Sonora.

During the grand press conference of the biopic film ‘Felix Manalo’ held at the Manila Hotel last Tuesday (September 22, 2015) actress Sheryl Cruz held a separate, brief interview at the Manila Hotel’s cafe to denounce the “harrasment” she has been receiving because of her stand against the bid for a higher office of her cousin Sen. Grace Poe.

In an interview with the reporters, Sheryl explained that it is a bit abrupt for Sen. Poe to run for a higher office, she then said that her cousin will make a good president in 2022 election.

“It’s a bit abrupt for her to run in 2016, and popularity cannot be translated into capability… She’ll make a fine president come 2022.” Sheryl said.



The 41-year old actress explained that she has always been supportive during her cousin’s senatorial campaign. “I supported my cousin throughout her 2013 run. Halos ako nga ang pumunta sa buong Pilipinas para i-representa siya. Kung hindi ako naniniwala sa kakayahan niya, bakit ko gagawin iyon?” She explained.

She also added, “I’m reserving my support for whomever candidate na nakikitang kong nararapat at dapat mamuno dahil maayos siyang tao at isa pa, ang puso niya ay para sa mga mamamayan, pati sa mga bata, at sa mga ina, at sa mga single mothers na tulad ko. Siya ang aking susuportahan ko,”

GUAM — Like millions of Filipinos around the world, those on this tiny island (a mere dot on the map) in the middle of the Pacific Ocean are also crazy about AlDub.

Two of them are Gina Tabonares-Reilly, formerly a reporter of The Philippines STAR and now married to retired US Marine Bob Reilly; and Teri Flores, marketing director of Tango Theatres TanHoldings Company.

Over merienda at the coffee shop of the newly-opened Dusit Thani Resort Hotel, they unabashedly showed how gigil they were about the Alden Richards-Yaya Dub/Maine Mendoza love team, racing against each other in showing me video grabs of the multi-million-tweet Eat, Bulaga! kalyeserye on their celfones and iPads.

“I saw on Yahoo.com that AlDub was trending,” related Teri. “Since I am in marketing, I look for studies like that. I was curious. So I checked YouTube at binalikan ko from Day One. I was instantly hooked. I’ve been following it since then.”

“My friends in Manila have been posting AlDub photos on their celfones and I asked them about it,” said Gina. “They told me, ‘Watch it. Maaliw ka.’ So I did. Bigla akong naging avid AlDub follower.”

I took their picture with my celfone camera and…surprise, surprise!...they willingly posed with an image of Alden from an AlDub episode, doing the AlDub pabebe wave and Lola Nidora’s pabebe tongue, and then kissing Alden’s image.

They are up-to-date with the free-flowing AlDub romance, gasping at the possibility of Alden and Yaya Dub finally meeting in person and not just via split-screen.

They knew that Alden and Yaya Dub’s  two scheduled meetings were thwarted first by a plywood (named “Victor Plywood” by Bulaga host Joey de Leon), and the second (touted to be their first date) by a long table at which Alden and Yaya Dub sat on opposite ends, cut short by the frantic ringing of an alarm clock and Lola Nidora’s urgent demand for Yaya Dub to bring to her her “chiwibol” (chewable) medicine.

“It’s so funny how every little thing associated with the kalyeserye becomes a character,” laughed Gina who, like Teri, even knew that the three stumbling blocks to the love team’s meeting have issued “official statements” (authors not identified) in an attempt to exonerate themselves.

Dear AlDub Nation: Sorry po sa nangyari kanina. Hindi ko po talaga kagustuhan na humadlang sa gitna ni Alden at ni Yaya Dub. Ako po ay isang props lamang na naghahangad na sumikat pero hindi sa masamang paraan, at wala po akong gustong masaktan.

“Bow ako sa writers ng AlDub,” said Teri. ”They don’t run out of exciting ideas. Very creative.”

“I’m amazed by how they come up with new ideas every day,” said Gina, taking exception of Wally Bayola (as Lola Nidora), Jose Manalo (as Tinidora) and Paolo Ballesteros (as Tidora) as a big help in sustaining the interest and curiosity of the followers until such time (before the year ends?) when Alden and Yaya Dub will end up in each other’s arms. “Tuwang-tuwa ako sa mga bodyguards ni Wally (the three Rogelios), Jose (the three Cuandos) and Paolo (the three Bernardos).”

Asked what they think makes AlDub click, Gina said, “I like the Cinderella-like touch, a nanny  fascinated with a prince-like guy. It’s not just a comedy, it shows Filipino values. By the way, aliw ako sa kanilang adlibs, you know, ’yung sinasabi nilang asawa ni…’Yung mga ganoon.”

Teri agreed. “My children didn’t grow up in the Philippines so they are not familiar with Filipino values. AlDub promotes Filipino values. When they ask, ‘Mommy, what’s that?’ I tell my son, who is in the military, ‘That’s the Filipino tradition of courtship.’ I like Maine because she’s an epitome of a Filipina…masunurin at marespeto sa Lola. Konti na lang ang generation na katulad niya. I agree with Lola Nidora that things should not be rushed and to wait for the right time, sa tamang panahon.”

“Maine makes fun of herself and she still looks good,” added Gina. “She’s really pretty. The characters represent members of the family so it’s not hard to identify with them. I love Jose when she dances to the tune of Mambo No. 5. Nakakatuwa ang kalandian n’ya.”

After Alden and Yaya Dub’s twice “so far yet so near/almost there” meetings two Saturdays ago, Teri and Gina are looking forward to what surprises the kalyeserye will spring this Saturday. The “first-date” episode last week earned (so far) more than 12 million tweets.

“I think they will finally come face to face and perhaps kiss,” Gina said.

“And I’m sure this Saturday’s episode will surpass the 12M-tweet mark,” countered Teri.”

After the coffee break, Gina and I (Teri did not join us) proceeded to a Japanese restaurant where Emelio Uy, the well-loved long-time Guam resident who has a ready helping hand for his kababayan, hosted a dinner. And what do you know? Emelio is also an AlDub follower!

When he goes home from managing his National Office Supply store, he relaxes by watching AlDub.

“It’s an effective stress-reliever,” swore Emelio.

People from all walks of society wherever in the world, there are Filipinos who  are AlDub followers. Indeed, AlDub is a great equalizer.

Lea Salonga’s “kababawan” tweet catches netizens attention

Singer and actress Lea Salonga tweeted that she is fine with shallowness (“kababawan”) and posted a question on Twitter if we should be contented by it:

“Okay lang sa akin ang kababawan, pero hanggang doon na lamang ba tayo? #NagtatanongLangPo”

The tweet caught the attention of netizens that prompted Lea to respond:

- Ang daming judgmental at defensive dito. Haaaaay, di niyo na-gets ang tweet ko.

- Uhmmm… I have no idea what’s going on. Why did people assume I was tweeting about AlDub? I wasn’t. I don’t know about it. So why the hate?

Ellen Adarna on Paulo Avelino: We're friends



MANILA, Philippines – Ellen Adarna clarified that she's just friends with Paulo Avelino.

The two were seen having some drinks together at the Star Magic Ball. The actress's date that night was her "Pasion de Amor" leading man Ejay Falcon.

Will I talk?

Maine Mendoza is doing her first-ever interview, three months after she broke into television initially as Yaya Dub, the nanny of Lola Nidora (Wally Bayola), and now as the love interest of Alden Richards in the Eat, Bulaga! kalyeserye which has been keeping Filipinos around the world glued to their TV sets Monday thru Saturday.

We are here at a big house at the corner of Broadway and 9th Sts. in New Manila, Quezon City which, just an hour earlier, served as Lola Nidora’s mansion where Alden and Maine (for the meantime not as Yaya Dub) were having their lunch unperturbed by nobody. The AlDub Nationals know what happened, with Maine saying “This must be love!” not just once but twice, much to the rejoicing of the kalyeserye’s avid followers who set a new Twitter record of more than 23 million tweets (as of this writing, still counting!), breaking the previous Saturday’s 12M-plus mark. After all, Sept. 26 was declared National Pabebe Wave Day.

It’s actually The STAR’s second exclusive interview with Maine. The first was late in July when Maine was only starting in Bulaga, recruited because of her popularity as the Queen of Dubsmash, barely a month before the kalyeserye was launched by accident…unscripted, uncharted, going on and on and on with AlDub co-stars also including Jose Manalo (Tinidora) and Paolo Ballesteros (Tidora) sustaining the viewers’ interest with their hilarious antics.

This Saturday, facing us as Maine Mendoza and not as Yaya Dub, the country’s phenomenal overnight star, is communicating to us through fan signs…on camera, that is (for this coming Saturday’s edition of CelebriTV, Oct. 3, 4 p.m. on GMA).

“Kilig siempre pero kinabahan,” admits Maine who has junked her initial dream to be a flight attendant, “Mas gusto ko pong mag-artista.”

Aside from Alden’s dimples, Maine says that what she likes about Alden is his eyes (which is the same thing Alden said he liked about Maine). “And his being a super gentleman.”

Asked if she has a boyfriend, Maine says, “In high school.” Now she’s fancy-free like Alden.

So is there a possibility of her and Alden becoming sweethearts in real life? May pag-asa ba si Alden kung manligaw sa kanya?

“Mayroon po!” Then she laughs and laughs.

What conditions, if any, will she impose on Alden (the way Lola Nidora makes it hard for Alden to woo Yaya Dub)?

“All he has to do is ask for my parents’ permission.”

The veteran comedian-TV host continues to take to social media to defend "Kalyeserye," the popular segment headlined by Alden Richards and Maine "Yaya Dub" Mendoza on the GMA-7 noontime show "Eat Bulaga."

In a tweet, Joey told those who do not like "Kalyserye" to simply not watch the segment.

"Kanya-kanyang kasaysayan yan," he added.

MANILA, Philippines — It looks like all is well between Joey de Leon and Lea Salonga.

The Broadway star made headlines when her tweet about "shallowness" was mistaken by fans of Alden Richards and Maine "Yaya Dub" Mendoza as a comment against the popular "Eat Bulaga" love team.

She later on explained the tweet is not about Alden and Maine.

Joey even addressed Lea's tweet, and followed it with a series of posts defending the "Eat Bulaga" segment "Kalyeserye," which Alden and Maine headline.

On Thursday, Lea finally replied to Joey, thanking the TV host-comedian for giving her "the benefit of the doubt."

She is a complete package. She’s got the beauty and the brains. She is multi-faceted. She’s a singer, an actress and a model. Truly, ganado sa buhay.”

Arci joins the glamorous and appealing line-up of Ginebra Calendar Girls that includes Angelica Panganiban (2007), Marian Rivera (2009 and 2014), Anne Curtis (2011), Solenn Heussaff (2012) and Georgina Wilson (2013).

With the calendar’s theme A Day in her Life, Arci was able to do some of the things she has never done before like wearing a two-piece bikini. “It was my first time ever to wear a bikini because everytime I go on swimming, I’m always with my family and friends.”

She finds it tough to pose sixy “kasi boyish ako kaya feeling ko very stiff ako so I asked them to guide me. Thanks to our photographer Jay Tablante because they (photos) came out okay. In fact, I only had a few weeks to prepare (to be fit and fab) or maybe a week and a half, so I’m glad everything came out well. The effort paid off at yung pagkain lang ng chips, hahaha.”

Seriously, though, Arci had a blast during the calendar photo shoot. “I had fun during the shoot because I know I am in good hands, they protected me all throughout. The calendars actually revealed more about myself like the things I can do aside from acting at meron din akong mga input. Not many people know that I am athletic… I am a rocker but I also love girly stuff like fashion.” For those not familiar, Arci is the lead vocalist of the rock band Philia that still actively performs in various gigs.

A Theater Arts graduate from the University of the Philippines, Arci is able to use her acting skills by portraying different roles in the big and small screens. She plays the lead character in the ABS-CBN drama series Pasion de Amor and a supporting role in the Star Cinema movie Etiquette for Mistresses.

Asked if she is ready to accept more daring roles, Arci said, “I think I already opened the doors for that, starting with Pasion although they know that I’m a very conservative actress and especially I came from a Christian atmosphere. My parents are really strict so they won’t really allow me to do stuff like this but now naman I think I’m ready and I’ve matured enough. I made sure kasi that before I do something like this, I’m physically, spiritually and mentally ready to be able to perform better. And yes, change is good so I’ll accept daring roles but I always say that I have my limitations at eto lang ang kaya kong gawin.”

Aside from endorsing a brand like Ginebra San Miguel for the first time, Arci gamely shared some of her memorable “firsts.”

My first acting experience was… when I was in high school. That was the time I discovered that I can act because I’m a shy type (of person) na laging quiet lang sa sulok and I don’t really talk that much so nung high school it was part of our exam to recite a declamation piece at dun ko nalaman na kaya ko palang umarte on stage.

The first movie I watched was… I don’t remember which one of the two — Land Before Time or Casper.

The first concert I watched... they were out of the country concerts of Corn, Rob Zombie and Five Finger Death Punch. They’re all rock and roll concerts.

The first actress I admired was… Meryll Streep and the one actor I really love is Eddie Garcia. They are both amazing.

The first musical that had an impact on me was… Phantom of the Opera; I love watching musicals. That’s why when I auditioned ‘yun din Phantom ang ginawa ko.”

Daniel Matsunaga on proposing to Erich Gonzales: Maybe soon

MANILA, Philippines — Is Daniel Matsunaga planning to propose to Erich Gonzales in the near future?

During their appearance on ABS-CBN's noontime show "ASAP" on Sunday, the model-actor told the 25-year-old actress: "Alam mo, mahal na mahal kita. Gagawin ko ang lahat para masaya ang buhay natin."

Asked by program co-host Piolo Pascual if he's already proposing, Daniel said: "Hindi pa, hindi pa. But maybe soon."

The two admitting being in a relationship earlier this year.

Daniel was rumored to have proposed to Erich during their vacation in Paris in June.

"I've been waiting for this relationship for three years. I'm not the kind of guy who would go into a relationship for fun" he said in an interview with Philstar.com last July. "So, right now, I'm very, very happy. That's what I can say to you. In God time's. There's always a perfect timing for everything."
