Bistek courting Kris again?

They haven’t had an honest-to-goodness “closure,” have they? Their so-called “work in progress” must have been just put on-hold, wasn’t it? And they have been swapping titillating text messages, haven’t they?

Kris Aquino is fancy-free (as the song goes,…come wander through the world with me, and any place we chance to be will be our rendezvous…) and so, as he claimed, is Quezon City Mayor Herbert Bautista (even if he continues to be a dutiful father to his children with two women, neither of whom he married, and from whom he has long been separated).

Is the rudely-interrupted real-life Kristek romcom resuming?

A Funfare VDPA (Very Deep Penetration Agent) swore that it is (“Cross my heart,” she said, “and hope to die!”). The VDPA recalled an incident last Thursday when Bistek paid Kris a surprise (or was it actually agreed upon?) visit on the set of Kris’ movie Etiquette For Mistresses in Antipolo.

“Bistek came with a catering con todo alalay (factotum),” recalled the VDPA. “He stood by Kris like an eagle-eyed bodyguard, as in parang guardia sibil na nakabantay kay Kris. Sweet na sweet sila. Bistek deliberately missed a flight to Iloilo for the League of Cities for Mar Roxas just to be with Kris.”

An entry in Kris’ Instagram (showing a cute couple captioned “Love is…Patching things up”) seems to say it all:…the past couple of months taught me a lot about compromise and about being less selfish. I know we still have a long way to go, but what has been working for me has been to reach for my Rosary and just pray…Another entry:…Learning to see life through his eyes…

Dear Kris has been so stressed these past few weeks and badly needs somebody special to help her unwind.

This time, will their “joint work” progress?

Vic Sotto gets teased about engagement to Pauleen Luna; quips, "Sinisigurado ko lang, baka maunahan ako ng AlDub."

Vic Sotto was caught off guard when a "Sugod Bahay" winner, Aling Nena, greeted him, “Happy wedding...” Bossing (his moniker) recently announced his engagement to longtime girlfriend Pauleen Luna.

Halatang nabigla si Vic Sotto nang bigla siyang batiin ng “Happy wedding!” ng isang 73-year-old winner sa "Juan For All All For Juan Sugod Bahay" segment ng Eat Bulaga! ngayong Sabado, September 5.
Kinakapanayam noon ng Eat Bulaga! co-hosts na sina Jose Manalo at Paolo Ballesteros si Lola Nena ng Barangay 598, Zone 59, Sta. Mesa Manila.
Pagkatapos ay biglang sinabi ni Lola kay Vic, “Salamat po, Bossing! Happy wedding, Bossing!”
Hindi man nagdetalye si Lola Nena, malinaw na tinutukoy nito ang engagement ni Vic, 61, at Eat Bulaga! co-host na si Pauleen Luna, 26.

Buwelta ni Vic sa contestant: “Grabe naman. Masyado ka namang adelantada... Akala ko wala kang TV?

Si Joey naman ay nagbigay ng suhestiyon na puwedeng panibagong konsepto ng kalyeserye ang real-life love story nina Vic at Pauleen.
“Oy, 'yan nga pala ang susunod nating istorya sa kalyeserye. Kapag nagkita na yung dalawa, si AlDub,” nagbibirong pahayag ni Joey.

VIC-PAULEEN TO WED SOONER THAN ALDUB. Kilala si Vic sa pagiging pribado pagdating sa usapin tungkol sa kanyang buhay pag-ibig.
Ngunit game na nakisakay sa biruan si Vic at sinabing baka maunahan pa siya ng tambalang AlDub na magpakasal, kaya napagdesiyunan niyang lumagay na sa tahimik.
Ang AlDUb ay ang sikat na tambalan nina Alden Richards at Yaya Dub (a.k.a. Maine Mendoza).

Ito ang pagkumpirma ni Vic Sotto tungkol sa balitang lumabas dito sa PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) na engaged na sila ng kanyang girlfriend at Eat Bulaga! co-host na si Pauleen Luna.

Si Vic ay 61 years old, samantalang si Pauleen ay 26 pa lamang.

Pahayag pa ng comedian-TV host tungkol sa engagement nila ni Pauleen, “Hindi ko naman puwedeng i-deny 'yon.

"But the details, yun ang sa tamang panahon… kung anuman yung mangyayari in the future."

Nakausap ng PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) at iba pang miyembro ng media si Vic sa press conference ng CitiGlobal Realty & Development, Inc., na ginanap sa Cities Events Place, Quezon City, nitong Miyerkules ng hapon, September 2.

Sinikap ng press na kunan ng iba pang detalye si Vic tungkol sa engagement nila ni Pauleen, ngunit ayaw patinag ng comedian-TV host.

Pero ang sinabi lamang niya ay umakyat na ang level ng kanilang relasyon.

“Ibang level na, pero I will go into details sa tamang panahon,” diin niya.

May mga press na inakalang hindi aaminin ni Vic ang tungkol sa engagement nila ni Pauleen sa nasabing interview.

Pero aniya, “Hindi naman ako yung tipong magde-deny, or sabi ko naman sa inyo, kung meron kailangang aminin, inaamin.”

Because the AlDub tandem of Alden Richards and Yaya Dub/Maine Mendoza is the most popular today, not just here but around the world (in Filipino communities reached by GMA Pinoy TV), the name Julie Anne San Jose is brought up as having been a “Yaya Dub” in Alden’s life once upon a time (although she and Alden would keep mum if reminded about it).

I guess if asked about it, Julie Anne would simply blush as an answer. Same with Alden. Why their romance didn’t progress (didn’t it, secretly?) remains a little mystery up to now.

Both are happy where they are, Alden as the current Crush ng Bayan, Pambansang Dimples and Pambansang Bae rolled into one, and Julie Anne in GMA shows Buena Familia, Sunday PINASaya and Pepito Manaloto. Currently in New York (with Dingdong Dantes, Ai-Ai delas Alas, Christian Bautista and Betong Sumaya) for the 10th-anniversary celebration (yesterday) of GMA Pinoy TV, Julie Anne was recently named the newest celebrity advocate of World Vision. The music video of her latest single titled Not Impressed will be released anytime now.

MANILA, Philippines – She may have walked the red carpet alone, but Maja Salvador was every bit of a stunner at the 9th Star Magic Ball at the Makati Shangri-La Hotel in Makati City on Saturday.

The 26-year-old actress looked elegant in a beige Rajo Laurel dress. This is Maja’s first Star Magic Ball after her breakup with Gerald Anderson earlier this month. Gerald, Maja’s date to the ball in 2013 and 2014, attended the event with his young niece Lira.

Shaina Magdayao also graced the ball’s red carpet alone wearing a John Herrera gown. The actress has been single since 2012 and also attended the event last year without a date.

More questions about the ‘Enrique Gil’ incident
Even if Enrique Gil has already apologized for that plane incident (see “blind item” in this corner last Friday, Sept. 11) on national television (repeating the hackneyed alibi “Tao lang ako at nagkakamali,” words to that effect), more questions are begging to be answered, to wit:

• Why didn’t whoever was in-charge of the Kapamilya group that went to London sternly remind the guys beforehand that nobody, with no exception, should drink before, during and even after the event?

• Why didn’t the Kapamilya Network reprimand or sanction Enrique instead of letting him go as if nothing happened?

• Why did the network let Enrique (escorting his leading lady Liza Soberano) attend the Star Magic Ball Saturday night and didn’t allow Jessy Mendiola (victim of the plane incident) to be there? (On the Tsismax program on dzMM last Sunday night, hosts Ambet Nabus and Gretchen Fullido quoted a text message from Ronald Constantino: Enrique Gil should be suspended!) Is there any kind of favoritism here?

• What does the airline have to say about the incident? (You remember how another airline treated Melissa Mendez in that “shooting clouds” incident, don’t you?)

Could it be true that an award-winning senior actress has gone back to her old habit that derailed her career several years ago? Sad, you know, because she was able to bounce back. Is it why she is not seen on TV as often as before?
Could it be true that a currently very popular young actor, rather his manager, turned down an offer (to the tune of millions of pesos) to endorse a 2016 candidate? As a polite gesture, the manager named a price that was too prohibitive (presyong ayaw talaga) but the candidate bit it. Still, the answer was no. The actor is prevented by the network from venturing into the murky political waters.
 Meet the newest Poster Boy for Misbehavior — yes, Paulo Avelino! A producer complained to Funfare Update that the actor is a big headache in the current production. “First time, I encounter an actor who disobeys even his manager,” fumed the producer. Abroad, the actor tries to evade fans by wearing a hood. Was he also the one who gave liquor to another misbehaving actor and, recently, a misbehaving sixy starlet? Is he self-destructing? Has he become swell-headed? Remember, whom the gods wish to destroy they first make mad. Sayang siya if and when.

BREAKING NEWS: A Funfare Update DPA reported that Quezon City Mayor Herbert “Bistek” Bautista is out of the long-delayed Mr. & Mrs. Split which is included in this December’s Metro Filmfest. Shooting for the movie has been postponed several times because, according to the DPA, “of Kris and Bistek’s off-and-on again relationship.”

Star Cinema, which is producing the movie, has tapped Derek Ramsay as Bistek’s replacement. Management saw the rushes of Etiquette for Mistresses and was impressed by the chemistry between Kris and Derek (who’s appearing as a special guest). Eureka, Krisrek was born! So simple, ‘no? The “t” in the uniname was just replaced by an “r.” Easy does it.

Well and good because Kris has been looking forward to working with Derek. Dumating na ang tamang panahon.

The movie’s title has been changed to Pamilya Lab, Lab, Lab.

JM de Guzman challenges Enrique Gil to a fight

It seems the airplane incident involving Enrique Gil and Jessy Mendiola is not yet over. On his Twitter account, JM de Guzman posted a short message challenging Enrique to a mixed martial arts (MMA) fight.

On his Instagram (which was already deleted), JM posted a photo of him with the following caption:

“With all due respect to Enrique Gil’s friends, fans and family. I would like to challenge to a one on one amatuer mixed martial arts match any place any time. I’ll give you time to prepare. Man up. Face me. (reply to my text messages please.) thanks brother.

Like the rest of the Bulaga dabarkads, Jose Manalo can’t explain how or why the AlDub kalyeserye became a monster hit worldwide.

“Biglaan lang,” Jose told Funfare. “It wasn’t planned at all. We were just told that Wally was going to change his duktora character to a lola with a yaya.”

That’s in Eat, Bulaga’s Juan For All, All For Juan segment. Wally is Wally Bayola who plays Lola Nidora in the two-month-old kalyeserye that catapulted the split-screen love team of Alden Richards and Maine Mendoza/Yaya Dub to overnight stardom. Jose plays three characters: as Frankie Arenolli, Yaya Dub’s jilted Italian suitor; as Don Franing, the suitor’s Gucci-clad grandfather; and as Tinidora, one of the triplets with Lola Nidora and Paolo Ballesteros as Tidora.

“A few days after Maine joined the show,” continued Jose, “Alden was caught by the camera on the other screen watching Maine. Parang kinilig si Maine. That’s how everything started. Biglang naging love team na sina Alden at Maine.”

AlDub followers agree that Jose, as well as Wally and Paolo, play a big part in the kalyeserye’s success. When the AlDub pair is off-screen, Jose and Wally help sustain the viewers’ interest with their crazy-wacky comic style, dressed in identical fashion with over-done make-up. Jose clicks with his harot (flirtatious) portrayal of Tinidora which is how people have started calling him.

“We are supposed to be triplets with different personality,” said Jose, “so I thought of how to make Tinidora different from Lola Nidora and Tidora. Si Paolo maganda na, si Wally mataray at masungit, so ginawa kong malantong na matanda si Tinidora.”

While Lola Nidora has three bodyguards all named Rogelio and Paolo has his own hunk bodyguards all named Bernardo, Jose also has his own bodyguards (Cuando, Cuando, Cuando) who seem to have, as Jose himself jokingly described them, risen from the grave.

The kalyeserye cast is given bullet points every day as guide, there’s no script at all, and it’s up to them to improvise on the sequence.

“The studio hosts are a big help,” said Jose, referring to Tito Sotto, Vic Sotto, Joey de Leon and Allan K who usually monitor the Juan For All segment. “They feed us pointers on what to do.”

With Alden and Wally, Jose is seen on TV from Monday to Saturday, now including Sundays on the new GMA noontime show Sunday PINASaya. Saturday nights, he co-hosts Celebrity Bluff with Eugene Domingo, also on GMA. Every now and then, he   performs at Zirkoh which is owned and managed by Allan K. Yes, you can call Jose ang lalaking walang pahinga.

Jose also acts as field reporter Gasgas Abelgas (patterned after you-know-who) for Tuko TV, keeping viewers on what’s coming next during the kalyeserye’s cliffhanger portion in which the triplets are shown “frozen.”

What you see is what you get, assured Jose.

“Palabiro na talaga ako since I was a child growing up in Moriones, Tondo, Manila. Lahat ng tao d’un alaskador. Hilig kong mambuska ng tao. If you don’t know me, mapipikon ka sa akin, sa mga biro ko.”

He’s the second to the eldest among five children.

“I come from a happy family. Medyo kapos pero masaya,” said Jose who reached only up to second year in college at UE. “Bulakbol kasi ako, sayaw lang nang sayaw.”

He started as a clown with Caloy Atayde’s Boyoyong Clowns that performed in kiddie parties.

“I also dance and I used to join dance contests in Eat, Bulaga. It was direk German Escueta who got me into GMA. I was a member of direk’s dance group and his basketball team.”

His acting debut was dramatic, not comedic.

“It was on the GMA action-drama series Valiente,” related Jose whose real first name is Ariel. “Ang role ko parang boy-boy, Jose ang pangalan. When Valiente ended, direk German hired me as PA (Production Assistant) and audition master of Bulaga! The name Jose stuck. They always told those auditioning, ‘Look for Jose!’ Then, I became the floor director.

“Magulo na talaga ako. Mando ako nang mando sa mga artista. Every now and then they would show me on the screen wearing a headset. They asked me to remove the headset and got me as alalay in the Laban O Bawi segment, then in Bulagaan. I woke up one morning and realized na tuluy-tuloy na ako sa Bulaga.”

While Wally has theater experience in high school in Naga City, Jose has no acting background at all.

“Natuto na lang,” said Jose.

Wally (real name: Walter James Bayola) grew up in Bicol, in Malinao, Albay.

“Ever since I was a kid,” Wally told Funfare in a previous interview, “laruan na ako ng mga tiyahin at tiyuhin ko. When I joined the church choir, my friends treated me the same way, laruan nila. I finished grade/elementary school at a Catholic school in Tabaco, Albay. It was the priest who took care of me. When he died, I went back to stay with my lola in Naga City. I joined the theater so I could get a scholarship in Naga College. I have a college degree, X-Ray Technician.”

He started at The Library as a stand-up comedian, along with Pooh and Teri Aunor, and got into Bulaga! as part of the Bulagaan segment where his tandem with Jose was born. They clicked as hosts of the Juan For All, All For Juan segment of Bulaga! In 2012, they topbilled A Party For Every Juan, a sold-out concert at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

They are both separated from their wives. Wally has four children and Jose has five, one of them indie actor Nicco Manalo.

No, there’s no professional jealousy between them; neither is there any scene-stealing from each other.

“Nagtutulungan kami,” said Jose.

They are like two peas in a pod, useless without the other.

Incidentally, asked how Maine/Yaya Dub is on the set, Jose echoed what Wally said in a Funfare interview.

“She’s very quiet, tahimik na bata pero masaya din. Pero may kalokohan din sa ulo.”

Do they talk about Alden?

“Oo naman. I usually tease her and Alden.”

Does he think Alden and Maine will end up as sweethearts in real life?

“I think so. Parang may tama na ang Maine na ‘yan. They are always being teased so mukhang nagkaka-igihan na. Madalas niloloko ko siya about Alden. It’s possible.”

Alden said he’s fancy-free and so is Maine. So, Jose is right, it’s possible!

Singer Sam Concepcion impersonated RnB superstar Jason Derulo and sang “Talk Dirty To Me”, earns him to become grand winner for week two in “Your Face Sounds Familiar”.

It was a tight contest as Sam got 27 points while Michael Pangilinan as Janno Gibbs singing “Binibini” earns him 26 points.
