Floyd Mayweather, Manny Pacquiao announce May 2 fight

The most anticipated boxing match of the last decade has finally been officially announced, with Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao revealing that their long-anticipated fight will finally take place, on May 2.

The final numbers haven't yet been released, but the two sides have reportedly agreed to a 60/40 split,, with Mayweather earning at least $120 million and Pacquiao at least $80 million for the fight, per Kevin Iole of Yahoo Sports.

Rumors of the fight picked up steam in recent weeks, with promoter Bob Arum saying the details could be wrapped up by the end of January. Both Mayweather and Pacquiao sat courtside at a Bucks-Heat game in Miami, meeting face to face at halftime.

Though a TMZ report called the fight a "done deal," promoters from both camps and network officials stressed that nothing yet was official.

"Floyd has agreed to wanting this fight for a long time, but there is no deal in place, so there is nothing new about it," said Chris DeBlasio of Showtime.

Mayweather (47-0, 26 by knockout) is the current WBC, WBA and Ring Magazine welterweight champion, as well as the WBC light middleweight champion. Pacquiao (57-5-2, 38 KO) holds the WBO welterweight belt.

Pacquaio, 36, last fought on Nov. 23, a 12-round victory over Chris Algieri in Macao, one of two fights in 2014 for Pacquiao. Mayweather, 37, also fought twice last year, both 12-round decisions over Marcos Maidana in Las Vegas.

Awesome.. Although a part of me thinks dapat nanyari itong laban na ito years ago when they were both at their peak, but that aside I'm still very much interested to see the fight.

I don't claim to be a boxing expert, I'm not even an enthusiast just a come and go fan, pero I think Mayweather have a lot more to lose compared kay Pacquaio (having a stellar record and all, compared to Pac's recent total knockout and wins by decisions), if that is to Pacman's psychological advantage we'll see.

I want Pacman to win, just seeing Mayweather put in his place just for once would be quite a sight, pero honestly I don't know if he can out do Mayweather.. From his recent fights and from all his distractions, I think he will have to really do better this time. I remember seeing a fight of his that in my opinion I was sure he didn't win, yet he did so there is that too.

The other guy is a motor mouth, a douchebag and seemingly a coward but he is smart, calculating and a very good boxer, so I really don't know. I have my doubts Pac can pull off this one, but I'd love to see him succeed. Not because of Nationalism (it's a money game, come on), but as a fan I like Pacman more than Mayweather cause he really does put himself out there and takes more risk which is more fun to watch than just watching a guy dodge for most of the match. It's smart but not as entertaining and exciting.

Man, I can't wait to see the fight.

Mananalo si Gayweder tapos controversial ang desisyon nang hurado.. syempre i claim nang pinoy na panalo si pacman, pero sasabihin ni gayweder siya ang tunay na nanalo... hanggang sa magkaroon pa sila ulit nang isang laban pa this year or early next year.. scripted sa malamang, alam naman natin ang boxing ay sports  sugal din yan...

Maraming nagsasabing kelangang i-ko ni pacman si floyd para manalo,sa tingin ko di naman na kelangan pa yun,kung mapatumba bonus na lang yan. Kelangan nya ng matinding pag-iingat sa labang yan,floyd is a great counter puncher given na yan kaya dapat wag syang bara-bara lang.

There’s a huge difference between ‘running’ from an opponent and intelligent and well- calculated footwork to stay outside of an opponent’s punching range.
Boxing’s essence is being able to hit, without being hit – and Mayweather does this expertly.
