Yamazaki is Suntory’s flagship single malt, multi-layered with fruit and Mizunara aroma.

From Yamazaki was born the surprising, delicate yet profound experience of a Japanese single malt. Spiritual and deep, its signature multi-layered taste is highly praised by whisky connoisseurs all over the world. Today, Yamazaki is not only the No.1 single malt whisky in Japan, but is enjoyed in more than thirty-five countries.

=================================================

Best whisky in the world' prize won by Japanese single malt for first time as Scottish distilleries lose out

Quote
Scottish distilleries are in shock after a Japanese single malt was named the best whisky in the world.

Whisky expert Jim Murray described the Yamazaki Single Malt Sherry Cask 2013 as a drink of “near incredible genius”, awarding it 97.5 marks out of 100 in the 2015 World Whisky Bible.

To add insult to injury it is the first time in the Whisky Bible’s 12-year history that a Scottish malt has failed to make the top five drams. It is also the first year that a Japanese whisky claimed the highest accolade.

Mr Murray, who oversees the review that samples over 4,500 different whiskies, labelled the results a “wake up call” for Scottish distilleries, claiming the winner was “a single malt which no Scotch can at the moment get anywhere near”.

Festive Ways To Celebrate Valentine's Day With Alcohol

3. Red Velvet Cake Martini

via Wicked Good Kitchen

This martini requires significantly more than some candy and some vodka, but it's totally worth it. All that's missing is the cream cheese icing.

Ingredients

For the Rim Garnish

4 tablespoons organic granulated cane sugar (or granulated sugar)

1 teaspoon premium unsweetened cocoa powder, such as Pernigotti®

½ ounce Godiva® White Chocolate Liqueur (or RumChata®)

For the Red Velvet Cake Martini

Ice for cocktail shaker

1½ ounces Faretti Biscotti

Famosi Liqueur di Italia (or Frangelico® Hazelnut Liqueur)

1 ounces Marie Brizard® White Cacao Liqueur (Crème de Cacao)

1 ounce SKYY® Vodka

1 ounce Grand Marnier® Natural Cherry Liqueur

1½ teaspoons grenadine syrup, such as Rose’s®, optional

Special Equipment

Cocktail shaker with strainer

Chilled martini glass

Rimmed shallow plates for rim garnish

Preparation

Prepare the Rim Garnish

In a small bowl, whisk together sugar and cocoa powder. Place sugar and cocoa mixture into a rimmed shallow plate. Pour Godiva® White Chocolate Liqueur into a rimmed shallow plate. Dip rim of martini glass into the plate with the liqueur, then immediately dip into the plate with the sugar and cocoa mixture.

Prepare the Cocktail

Fill cocktail shaker with ice. Add remaining cocktail ingredients and shake vigorously, about 20 seconds. Strain into prepared martini glass and serve.

2 ounces whipped cherry vodka

2 ounces creme de cacao

2 ounces french vanilla creamer

1 ounce grenadine

1 ounce maraschino cherry syrup(from cherry jar)

6. Cosmopolitan

You can never go wrong with a classic Cosmopolitan. The perfect balance of sweetness from the triple sec and tartness from the cranberry juice make this a crowd-pleaser.

FOR 1 SERVING

2 ounces (1/4 cup) vodka1/2 ounce (1 tablespoon) triple sec3/4 ounce (1 tablespoon + 1 1/2 teaspoons) cranberry juice1/4 to 1/2 ounce (1 1/2 teaspoons to 3 teaspoons) fresh lime juice1 2-inch orange peel/twistice

FOR 4 SERVINGS

8 ounces (1 cup) vodka2 ounces (1/4 cup) triple sec3 ounces (1/3 cup) cranberry juice1 to 2 ounces (2 tablespoons to 4 tablespoons) fresh lime juice4 2-inch orange peels/twists

Directions

FOR 1 Serving

Fill a cocktail shaker with ice then add vodka, triple sec, cranberry juice and lime juice. (We like the extra bite of extra lime juice, so we use 1/2 an ounce in our cosmopolitan cocktails. However, use what is best for your taste).Shake the cocktail shaker for about 30 seconds until well chilled. Then, strain into a martini glass.Garnish with orange peel/twist. For an extra burst of flavor, peel the orange twist over the filled cocktail glass. This way, the orange oils spray into the glass.

FOR 4 SERVINGS

Add vodka, triple sec, cranberry juice and the lime juice to a pitcher then stir. Refrigerate. Then, once ready to serve, pour into four martini glasses and garnish with orange peel/twist.

Festive Ways To Celebrate Valentine's Day With Alcohol

9. Bailey's Cool Raspberry

via Bliss Tree

Show yourself some love this year by indulging in a glass of fruit topped with creme liqueur. You damn well deserve it.

Ingredients

2 ounces Baileys Original Irish Cream
8-9 raspberries
Crushed ice
Place 4-5 raspberries at the bottom of a rocks glass and lightly muddle them.
Top with crushed ice.
Add Baileys Irish Cream.
Garnish with three speared raspberries.

10. Red Valentine

via The Stylish Type

Serves 1

1.5 ounce of Patron silver tequila

1 ounce Organic brand lemonade

splash of Rose's Red grenadine syrup

red sugar for rim

lemon wedge

ice

Pour sugar into a shallow plate or bowl. Wet the rim of glass with the lemon wedge. Dip glass into the sugar. Fill glass with ice. Combine tequila, lemonade, and grenadine into a cocktail shaker. Fill with ice and shake for 45 seconds. Strain into the prepared sugar rimmed glass. Garnish with lemon wedge. Enjoy with your sweetheart!

This gorgeous sugar-rimmed drink is a dressed up tequila sunrise, using lemonade rather than orange juice. You don't have to use Patron tequila, but it makes a world of difference.

11. Chocolate Margarita

via Sweet Life

This particular drink takes a bit of prep work, but the homemade chocolate syrup is worth the wait, and you can make extra for later.

12. Romeo and Juliet

via The Food Network

Significantly less tragic than the Shakespearean play that it's named after, this impressive cocktail is surprisingly easy to make. The journey to your happily ever after starts here.

Ingredients

Ice45ml tequila
15ml Grand Marnier
7ml cherry or Chambord raspberry liqueur
60ml chilled peach juice

For the garnish:

Orange zest spiral
3 maraschino cherries

Use imperial measurements

Method

1) Fill a cocktail shaker with ice. Add the tequila (or Absolut Peach), Grand Marnier, cherry or raspberry liqueur and peach juice. Shake vigorously for 10 seconds and pour into a chilled fluted glass or large martini glass.

2) Place the orange spiral on the lip of the glass so it drapes down the side. For a fluted glass: drop a cherry into drink. For a martini glass: skewer three cherries on a swizzle stick and lay across the lip.

13. Bloody Valentine Martini

via Nommynom

This is another one that requires a bit of preparation (specifically squeezing your own orange juice), but using blood oranges is what gives this drink its dramatic deep red color.

Bloody Valentine Martini

2 shots Absolute Mandarin Vodka
Juice of 3 Blood Oranges (about 1 cup)
Splash of Campari
2 Slices of Blood Orange, for garnish
White Sugar, to rim the glass

Equipment:

Martini ShakerMuddlerIceStrainer
2 Martini Glasses

You can start by wetting the rim of your martini glass and dipping it into sugar to get a sweet little sugar rim on the glass.  Set aside.

Fill your martini shaker with ice, vodka, Blood Orange juice and Campari.  Put one of squeezed out juiced orange halves into the mix.  Using a muddler drive the rind down into the ice, when it gets to the bottom you can stop, you just want a quick muddle.  Put the top on the martini shaker and give it a few shakes.

Using a strainer pour the contents of the martini shaker in to you glasses.  Put one Blood Orange Slice on each glass and serve it to your Valentine.

14. Rose Noir

via Martha Stewart

The Rose Noir has a more elegant feel to it, probably because it involves champagne.
Makes 2 drinks (can be doubled or tripled)

INGREDIENTS

1/4 bottle of rose Champagne

2 shots of vodka

1 shot of blackberry preserves (approximately 3 tbsps.)

1/2 shot of fresh Meyer lemon juice

Fresh blackberries (for garnish)

Meyer lemon slices (for garnish)

DIRECTIONS

1) Add the vodka, blackberry preserves, and Meyer lemon juice to a glass pitcher.

2) Add ice to the pitcher and stir the ingredients for 10 seconds.

3) Add the rose Champagne, stir briefly, and garnish with the remaining fresh blackberries and Meyer lemon slices.

4) Serve in glass cocktail coupes or Champagne glasses.

Boone's Farm was formerly a brand of apple wine produced by the E & J Gallo Winery. Now, flavors are malt-based instead of wine-based due to changes in tax laws. The brand is popular on college campuses due to its low price. Boone's farm beverages, served in 750 ml bottles are often located in the cold box area of convenience stores across the United States. In some U.S. states, such as Utah, some Boone's Farm products are labeled as malt beverages and not as flavored apple/citrus wine products, as state liquor laws prohibit the sale of wine in grocery and convenience stores.

NOTE : Rated 2 stars by the TS.... not really alcoholic.... great for  very light drinking...

In 1905, Thomas Fentiman, an iron puddler from Cleckheaton, England was approached by a fellow tradesman for a loan. A deal was struck and a recipe for botanically brewed ginger beer was provided as security. The loan was never repaid so Thomas became the owner of the unique recipe. Thomas began using the recipe and producing botanically brewed ginger beer which he delivered door-to-door using a horse and cart for transport. His ginger beer was stored in hand made stone jars known as ‘grey hens’ which were stamped with an image of Thomas’ pet dog ‘Fearless’ who had won awards for obedience at the famous ‘Crufts’ dog competition. Fentiman’s ginger beer quickly became very popular and the family business grew, with several production factories being opened in the North East of England.

The world has changed a lot during the years since Thomas Fentiman founded the business and Fentimans have had to adapt to meet the demands of this world. Changes in the way people shop mean that we don’t deliver door-to-door anymore and instead sell our beverages in retail outlets, bars and restaurants. We prefer to use motorised transport to make deliveries, rather than horses and carts and the old stone jars have been replaced by glass bottles. Some things have not changed however. The business is still in the Fentimans family and is owned by the Great Grandson of Thomas Fentiman and we still make our beverages by the time honoured method of botanically brewing the finest natural ingredients. Our production processes have been updated through the addition of mild carbonation to replace the carbon dioxide lost during pasteurisation, which gives the product a longer life.

St. Pauli Girl beers are brewed and bottled by the St. Pauli Brauerei, which is located within the Beck's brewery in Bremen, Germany.

The brand derives its name from the fact that the original brewery, established 1857 by Lüder Rutenberg, was located next to the former St Paul's Monastery in Bremen. There are currently three brands of beer brewed: St. Pauli Girl Lager, St. Pauli Girl Special Dark and St. Pauli Non-Alcoholic Malt Beverage. The beer is only produced for export and is not sold in Germany.

St Pauli Girl brews all of their beers according to the Reinheitsgebot (German purity law) of 1516. The distinctive label depicting a woman wearing traditional outfits was introduced in the 19th century with the advent of the bottled beer. The local artist commissioned for the label drew his inspiration from the waitresses at the time.

St Pauli Girl's Beers were first introduced into select US markets in 1965. National Distribution began in 1975. St. Pauli Non-Alcoholic was first sold in the United States in 1991. The St Pauli Girl website claims that their beer is the number two selling German beer in the United States.
