As tweeted by by ESPN’S Michael Wallace (@WallaceNBA_ESPN): “LeBron came to Durant’s defense on Mr. Unreliable headline: he’s got to become a free agent one day.”
“Le Bron then jokes that he’s offered his one national headline for the day before sounding out Sportscenter jingle,” reads Wallace’s follow-up tweet.
Durant was tagged as “Mr. Unreliable” in the May 1, 2014 issue of the Oklahoman after the Thunder fell 3-2 to Memphis in their Western Conference playoff series. The 6’9” swingman managed to rebound well from this distraction as he piled a double-double of 36 and 10 in OKC’s 104-84 victory in the following match to force a deciding Game 7 against the Grizzzlies.
