Every year, Breast Cancer Awareness Month has a way of spawning outrageous, outlandish, ridiculous campaigns that have absolutely nothing to do with the reality of the disease. Pinkwashing is a real problem that deserves to be called out time and again. But somehow, Simple Pickup has come up with a way to trump even the most blatant examples of pinkwashing with a sick new campaign they're documenting on YouTube.
For every woman who lets a Simple Pickup rep motorboat them -- aka squeeze their breasts together, stick his face between them, and shake his head back and forth while imitating Vince Vaughn in Wedding Crashers -- they'll supposedly donate $20 to a breast cancer awareness fund.
Ladies and gentlemen, may I present you, the lowest of the low!
These are the same guys who documented forceful motorboating of women at last year's Comic-Con, so it doesn't exactly come as a surprise, but that doesn't make it any less revolting. And in this case, it's almost even worse, because it's a complete insult to women who are living with or who have died from breast cancer. How on earth is motorboating women with healthy breasts not a complete slap in the fact to women who have had to face down difficult, disfiguring surgeries and treatments so that they could say they were in remission?
Maybe these guys think they're doing those women a real service, because they're raising money for breast cancer awareness funds through their juvenile, dehumanizing, and desperate Tosh 2.0-ish pranks -- which they're passing off as satire (yeah, okay, nice try). But it's obvious they have no respect for the disease or anyone actually affected by it. This kind of "campaign" is the lowest of the low. And really there's nothing more to say than these ignorant dudes should be thoroughly ashamed of themselves.
