(Football) Iniesta: Messi won't find another club like Barcelona
Andres Iniesta says Lionel Messi would fail to find another club like Barcelona if he chose to leave Camp Nou this summer.
The Argentina star has been a frustrated figure at times this season and produced several underwhelming displays as the Blaugrana's campaign has stuttered in recent weeks.
Reports have even suggested Messi could be tempted to seek a move elsewhere as a result of his unhappiness with his current contract, but Iniesta has warned his teammate against making a hasty decision.

(UFC) UFC 172: Jon Jones pummels Glover Teixeira for unanimous decision win
BALTIMORE – When Jon Jones fought Alexander Gustafsson last year, he was greatly troubled by the Swede's striking.
On Saturday, he defended his title against hard-hitting Glover Teixeira, but it was Jones' striking that dominated the fight. Jones picked Teixeira apart with his hands, opening a gaping wound over his right eye, and won an easy unanimous decision.
All three judges had it 50-45 for Jones, as did Yahoo Sports.
Jones said "Glover doesn't tend to be the most versatile," but Jones stymied Teixeira's offense by not allowing him to get his hands untracked.

(UFC) Luke Rockhold submits Tim Boetsch, calls out Vitor Belfort
Luke Rockhold finished the always tough Tim Boetsch with one of the most impressive submissions in UFC history Saturday night at UFC 172. Rockhold forced the tap at 2:08 of the first round with a reverse triangle-Kimura shoulder lock combination.
The two middleweights traded feints and kicks in the opening seconds of their fight before Boetsch shot in for a single leg take down on Rockhold. The former Strikeforce champ scrambled well to defend the take down once but then fed his own leg through and around the arm and head of Boetsch, giving up the take down but - more importantly - securing an inverted triangle choke.

(NBA) Lakers coach Mike D'Antoni resigns
LOS ANGELES (AP) -- Los Angeles Lakers coach Mike D'Antoni has resigned after less than two seasons on the job.
Lakers spokesman John Black confirmed D'Antoni's resignation Wednesday night.
D'Antoni went 67-87 after taking over the Lakers early in the 2012-13 season, replacing the fired Mike Brown.
The injury-plagued Lakers were 27-55 this season, their worst campaign in more than 50 years. Los Angeles missed the playoffs for only the third time in 38 years.
D'Antoni had one year left on his contract, but wanted the Lakers to pick up his option year for 2015-16 to have any chance of success. The Lakers apparently refused, leading to D'Antoni's resignation.
D'Antoni also coached the Phoenix Suns and the New York Knicks.

(Reuters) - All the signs indicate that five-division world champion Floyd Mayweather Jr. will comfortably maintain his unbeaten record when he faces Argentina's Marcos Maidana on Saturday, though the American is not expecting a "pushover."
Mayweather, who has a 45-0 record with 26 knockouts, is an overwhelming 11-1 favorite for the WBC/WBA welterweight title unification bout which will be staged at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.

(NBA) Bulls star Joakim Noah undergoes knee surgery
CHICAGO – Chicago Bulls center Joakim Noah underwent arthroscopic left knee surgery on Friday and is expected to spent the next eight to 12 weeks rehabilitating and recovering.
The operation was performed by team physician Brian Cole only days after the Bulls were eliminated by the Washington Wizards in the first round of the NBA playoffs.
Noah was named the NBA Defensive Player of the Year, anchoring a Chicago defensive effort that surrendered a league-low 91.8 points a game.
The son of famed French tennis star Yannick Noah, Joakim Noah averaged 12.6 points, 11.3 rebounds and 5.4 assists during the regular season for Chicago.
Noah averaged 10.4 points, 12.8 rebounds and 4.6 assists a game for the Bulls against the Wizards, who won their best-of-seven Eastern Conference first-round playoff series 4-1.
Noah, 29, became the first Bulls player to win the award since Michael Jordan in 1988.

(Boxing) Floyd Mayweather survives scare, edges Marcos Maidana via majority decision
LAS VEGAS – It was Marcos Maidana's night even though Floyd Mayweather came out on top yet again. The gritty Argentine pushed the unbeaten Mayweather like he had been pushed few times before in his career, firing punches from every angle.
Maidana threw more than twice as many punches – 858 to 426 – but Mayweather outlanded him by nine, 230-221.
That was the slim difference in a majority decision for Mayweather on Saturday night before a sold-out and raucous crowd at the MGM Grand Garden. Judge Michael Pernick had it 114-114, but he was overruled by Burt Clements (117-111) and Dave Moretti (116-112), who had it for Mayweather.

(UAAP Basketball) UE displays new system, blasts UP in UAAP opener
MANILA, Philippines – On opening day of the UAAP's 77th Season, the UE Red Warriors showed no signs of rust, jitters, nor discomfort and, instead, displayed the new look and new system they've been molding over the preseason since coach Derrick Pumaren took over the team.
The Warriors did not disappoint the partisan crowd who also witnessed the opening ceremonies as they boasted their effective execution of Pumaren's well-known full-court press, and coupled that with an offensive explosion to beat down the hapless UP Fighting Maroons, 87-59, on Saturday, July 12 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

(UAAP Basketball) Tolomia's 4th quarter explosion leads FEU past DLSU
MANILA, Philippines – If anyone thought losing RR Garcia and Terrence Romeo would put the FEU Tamaraws out of title contention, then Mike Tolomia made sure to send a strong message on Saturday, July 12.
The two former MVPs might be gone, but the team has another star in its presence.
Tolomia scored 23 points, recorded 5 assists and 3 rebounds, and delivered one fatal blow after another to lead his team past the De La Salle Green Archers, 82-77, at the Araneta Coliseum, opening their campaign at 1-0.

(UAAP Basketball) Ravena propels Ateneo past Adamson, 79-57
MANILA, Philippines – Entering the UAAP season, the verdict out on Ateneo was that they were still too young, maybe a couple more seasons of seasoning away from becoming title contenders once again.
Sunday, July 13, was just one game - more less against a team whose coach didn't expect to make the Final Four. However, if anything, the Ateneo Blue Eagles showed they have no plans of sitting on the sidelines this year.
Not when Kiefer Ravena is finally healthy from his foot injury from last season, back and hungry to lead his team after they missed out on a Final Four berth last year.
Not when the team's rookies already look ready to contribute. Not when veterans such as Von Pessumal, Nico Elorde, and Chris Newsome look to be in top shape.
"I just wanted to make sure [in] the backs of their minds, all of us wanted to be better than what we were last season," said Ateneo head coach Bo Perasol moments after his club's dominating 79-57 victory over the Adamson Soaring Falcons.

(UAAP Basketball) Rosario, NU embarrass UST for first win
MANILA, Philippines - The ball found its way into Gelo Alolino's hands midway in the third period and he ran with it all the way to the other end. He had Jamil Sheriff all over him as well as two other UST Growling Tigers, but the veteran heaved a shot that trickled in, giving his NU Bulldogs a 37-23 advantage.
Before that Karim Abdul tried for a lay-up for UST - one that he always made last season - but it rolled out.
It has been that kind of afternoon for the Bulldogs, executing with more certainty and with much precision against a hesistant and sloppy UST en route to a 59-40 victory on Sunday, July 13 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum for their first win in Season 77 of the UAAP.
