(Volleyball) Arellano, Adamson go 1-2 in Group A after wins

MANILA, Philippines - Arellano University remained undefeated in the Shakey's V-League Season 11 First Conference after sweeping College of St. Benilde, 25-19, 25-17, 25-16 on Thursday, April 3 at the Filoil Flying V Arena in San Juan.

Still fresh from a colossal upset against Ateneo de Manila last Sunday, the Lady Chiefs banked on the scoring of Prado and Danna Henson who combined for 25 points on 21 attacks in a win that pushed Arellano on top of Group A standings at 3-0.

(Volleyball) Ateneo downs Lady Cobras to bounce back in V-League

MANILA, Philippines – The Ateneo de Manila University Lady Eagles made short work of the Southwestern University Lady Cobras, 25-13, 25-18, 25-20, in the Shakey’s V-League Season 11 First Conference, Sunday, April 6, at the Filoil Flying V Arena in San Juan City.

The reigning UAAP champions bounced back from a shock defeat to Arellano University in their last outing as they clobbered the Cebu-based crew to improve their record to 2-1 and tie Adamson University in Group A’s second spot.

(US NCAA) Kentucky-UConn Preview

ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) -- Connecticut and Kentucky couldn't have met in last year's championship game and few people gave them a chance to be in this year's.

Seventh-seeded Connecticut and eighth-seeded Kentucky meet Monday night in one of the unlikeliest NCAA championship games ever.

Neither was around in last year's postseason - Connecticut because of a tournament ban over academic issues; Kentucky because it didn't make the field. And neither looked like national title contenders at times this season.

Kentucky (29-10) and its outstanding freshmen went from preseason No. 1 to out of the rankings after some bad losses. And Connecticut (31-8) was not a popular postseason pick after finishing tied for third in the American Athletic Conference with multiple losses to Louisville and SMU.

(Formula One) Hamilton edges Rosberg in Bahrain thriller

The win - in Formula One's 900th grand prix - was the Briton's second in a row, the 24th of his career and also a second successive one-two for a team in a class of their own and with two drivers free to race each other from start to finish.

Mercedes have now won all three races so far in 2014.

"Nico drove fantastically well throughout the race. It was very, very hard to keep him behind me," smiled Hamilton, the 2008 world champion who last enjoyed back-to-back wins four years ago with McLaren.

(WWE) Brock Lesnar def. The Undertaker

NEW ORLEANS — Records are made to be broken.

Heroes fall. Legends fade. History is rewritten.

We’ve learned to accept these truths about many things in this world, but not The Undertaker’s Streak. It was WWE’s one constant — a decades-long unbeaten WrestleMania run that had never been done before, and will never be done again. Every year, The Deadman would face down a worthy adversary — be it Triple H, Shawn Michaels, his brother Kane — and every year he would add another number to his win column until it stood at a towering 21-0.

(WWE) Daniel Bryan def. Randy Orton and Batista to become the new WWE World Heavyweight Champion

NEW ORLEANS – Batista has to deal with it. The voices in Randy Orton’s head are speechless. And Triple H’s corporate throne will have to do without its crown jewel, because Daniel Bryan – the Goat Face, the Weak Link, the B-plus player, he of the high school gyms and double-digit paydays on the independent scene – is the WWE World Heavyweight Champion.

(US NCAA) Connecticut wins NCAA title, 60-54 over Kentucky

ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) -- Coaches and players left them. Others told them to go away.

The guys who stuck around at UConn ended up with the last laugh and a pretty good prize to go with it: The national title.

Shabazz Napier turned in another all-court masterpiece Monday night to lift the Huskies to a 60-54 win over Kentucky's freshmen and bring home a championship hardly anyone saw coming.

(Boxing) Roach on Pacquiao: 'God doesn't win the fight'

MANILA, Philippines - If Manny Pacquiao is going to defeat Timothy Bradley in their rematch on Saturday, April 12, it’s going to be because of what he does in the gym, not in the church.

That’s what Freddie Roach, Pacquiao’s trainer for over a decade, asserted when asked about what role religion and faith will play in their return bout, which will be contested for Bradley’s WBO welterweight title.
