(UFC) UFC Signs Anthony Johnson to Rumble with Phil Davis at UFC 172 in Baltimore

UFC president Dana White recently mentioned that he had been talking to UFC matchmaker Joe Silva about the possibility of bringing Anthony “Rumble” Johnson back to the Octagon. Those talks apparently got serious quickly.

Having had trouble making weight both at welterweight and then at middleweight during his first UFC tenure, White on Tuesday announced that Johnson would return as a light heavyweight to face Phil Davis at UFC 172 on April 26 in Baltimore, Md.

(Boxing) Pacquiao, Bradley both seek redemption in rematch

BEVERLY HILLS, Calif. (AP) — Manny Pacquiao and Timothy Bradley intend to leave no doubt this time.

Nearly two years after Bradley beat the Filipino congressman in a hotly disputed split decision, the welterweights both seemed uncommonly confident Tuesday as they began promotional work for their April 12 rematch.

(UFC) UFC’s Chris Weidman has ‘no problem’ moving up to 205lbs

UFC middleweight champion Chris Weidman feels that he still has plenty left to accomplish at 185 pounds but he's also open to one day moving up a weight class.

"If it comes to the point where ’85 looks a little stale," Weidman recently told USA Today.

"I have no problem going to 205."

Weidman earned the middleweight title last July by knocking out longtime champ Anderson Silva. In December, Weidman earned a second consecutive second round stoppage over "The Spider" at UFC 168.

(UFC) Jose Aldo manager suggests catchweight for Anthony Pettis fight

Alright, so maybe we're not so close to getting the Jose Aldo vs. Anthony Pettis super fight after all. Just days after all principles involved (Aldo, Pettis, UFC president Dana White) seemed to agree that the fight needed to happen, comments from both fighters' managers would appear to put at least a temporary kink in those plans.

At the UFC 169 post event press conference, White said that should Aldo move up to fight the lightweight champion Pettis at 155 pounds, he'd need to vacate his own featherweight title. At the time, Aldo stayed silent but recently, his coach and manager Andre Pederneiras floated the idea of a 150 pound catchweight limit for the super fight.

"(A catchweight) would be interesting for both," Pederneiras told MMA Fighting.

(Boxing) Pacquiao out to show Bradley he still has ‘killer instinct’

NEW YORK — Manny Pacquiao is out to show Timothy Bradley that he still has a "killer instinct."

Pacquiao was in New York on Wednesday (Thursday, Manila time) as part of a media tour to promote his rematch with Bradley on April 12 in Las Vegas. Bradley beat Pacquiao in 2012 in a hotly disputed split decision.

At a news conference on Tuesday in southern California, Bradley said the 35-year-old Pacquiao still has skills, but the former welterweight champion's “killer instinct is gone.”

(NBA) Pelicans' Anthony Davis to replace Lakers' Kobe Bryant in 2014 NBA All-Star Game

NEW YORK -- New Orleans Pelicans forward/center Anthony Davis has been named by NBA Commissioner Adam Silver to replace injured West All-Star Kobe Bryant of the Los Angeles Lakers in the 2014 NBA All-Star Game in New Orleans. Davis, who will make his first All-Star Game appearance, is averaging 20.5 points, 10.5 rebounds and an NBA-leading 3.3 blocks in 40 games for the Pelicans.

Oklahoma City Thunder head coach Scott Brooks, who earned the right to coach the West squad by virtue of the Thunder clinching the best record in the conference through games played Feb. 6, will determine who replaces Bryant in the starting lineup.

The 63rd NBA All-Star Game will be played at Smoothie King Center in New Orleans on Sunday, Feb. 16, 2014 (8 p.m. ET), televised exclusively on TNT and broadcast exclusively on ESPN Radio in the U.S. The All-Star Game will reach fans in more than 215 countries and territories in more than 47 languages.

NEW YORK -- NBA All-Stars Paul George of the Indiana Pacers, Damian Lillard of the Portland Trail Blazers and John Wall of the Washington Wizards headline the list of dunkers in the 2014 Sprite Slam Dunk (#SpriteSlam), taking place during State Farm® All-Star Saturday Night (#StateFarmSaturday) at Smoothie King Center in New Orleans on Saturday, Feb. 15. Harrison Barnes of the Golden State Warriors and Ben McLemore of the Sacramento Kings fill out the Western Conference teams, while reigning Sprite Slam Dunk champion Terrence Ross of the Toronto Raptors completes the East roster.

This marks the first time in 26 years that three All-Stars are competing in the Sprite Slam Dunk. In the 1988 competition in Chicago, All-Stars Clyde Drexler, Michael Jordan, and Dominique Wilkins squared off, with Jordan claiming the crown in front of the hometown fans.

TNT's Hill and NBA TV's Webber, general managers for the 2014 BBVA Compass Rising Stars Challenge, made their player selections live on TNT. The 2014 BBVA Compass Rising Stars Challenge will be played Friday, Feb. 14, in Smoothie King Center during NBA All-Star 2014.

SOCHI, Russia - Russia launched the opening ceremony for one of the most controversial Winter Olympics in history on Friday, seeking to convince a skeptical world that the project spearheaded by President Vladimir Putin would be a success.

After a build-up dogged by controversies over gay rights, construction delays and security concerns, the 40,000 capacity Fisht stadium on the Black Sea in Sochi burst into cheers at 8:14 p.m. local time (4:14 p.m. GMT) for the start of the two-and-a-half hour ceremony.
