The Anglo-French Supersonic Airliner, Concorde 002 landed at Manila International Airport on June 1972.

Philippine Airforce 1950's to 1980's
A time when the Philippine Airforce was one of the best in Asia.
Gotta catch that plane at seven thirty . . . why haven't you come to say goodbye.

The Beatles Live in Manila!!!
On July 4, 1966, The Beatles performed two concerts at the Rizal Memorial stadium to at least 100,000 lucky Pinoys. I was there but outside the stadium grounds because I couldn’t afford the P20 entrance to the concert. I contented myself with the faint inaudible sound of The Beatles drowned by hysterical screams of the fans. During that concert, The Beatles only performed 10 songs, which was less than 30 minutes and the opening acts that included the Reycards, Lemons 3, Aldeguer Dancers, Pilita Corrales and the Downbeats with Pepe Smith performed four times longer than The Beatles.
Former First Lady now Rep. Imelda Marcos being presented with a bouquet by Midas Hotel GM Angel Kanapi
Flashback to July 3, 1966 when The Beatles first stepped on Philippine soil. Unbeknownst to them, the concert promoter Ramon Ramos committed to the Marcos family that they would eat lunch at Malacañang Palace (the official residence of the current Philippine President) as special guests of the first family. Because the arrangement wasn’t made with Brian Epstein, The Beatles weren’t able to attend to the disappointment of not only the First Family but also the cabinet secretaries, senators, congressmen and VIPs who were there to welcome them.

Thrilla in Manila was the third and final boxing match between Muhammad Ali and Joe Frazier. It was contested in 1975 for the Heavyweight Championship of the World at the Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City, Metro Manila, Philippines, on Wednesday, October 1. Ali won by technical knockout (TKO) after Frazier's chief second, Eddie Futch, conceded the fight prior to the 15th round. The contest's name is derived from the frequent rhyming boast made by Ali that the fight would be a "killa and a thrilla and a chilla, when I get that gorilla in Manila."
The bout is consistently ranked as one of the best in the sport's history and was the culmination of a three-bout rivalry between the two fighters that Ali won 2-1

Throwback: Miss Universe in the Philippines
THE PHILIPPINES played host twice to the Miss Universe pageant. The first was on July 21, 1974 -- the first time in the pageant's history that the event was held in Asia -- and the second was on May 20, 1994.

uy . . . salamat po sa mga shares +likes para sainyo
In the 1960s there was Halili beer giving the giant San Miguel a run for its money. And before hell breaks loose in the marketing scene, San Miguel had the temerity to buy out the stocks of Halili beer, in the process giving back San Miguel its monopoly of the beer market.
Maynila sa Kuko ng Liwanag (1975) is the film debut of Bembol Roco . . . may buhok pa siya dito hehehe . . .
