Gilas should win. They have overwhelming home crowd support.

Sir, if this would happen, all other Asian countries would cry foul.
LBJ would decimate the competition.

What's the rule on naturalization zz?  Can any country naturalize anyone?  If that's the case, the country with the most money wins, right?  KSA, for example with their billions of oil money, can naturalize as their citizens, the entire USA basketball team.

Found it:

Quote
Naturalization (or naturalisation) is the acquisition of citizenship and nationality by somebody who was not a citizen of that country (foreign).
In general, basic requirements for naturalization are that the applicant hold a legal status as a full-time resident for a minimum period of time and that the applicant promise to obey and uphold that country's laws, to which an oath or pledge of allegiance is sometimes added. Some countries also require that a naturalized national must renounce any other citizenship that they currently hold, forbidding dual citizenship, but whether this renunciation actually causes loss of the person's original citizenship will again depend on the laws of the countries involved.

Iran

i wonder what would be our overall rank in FIBA after our historic silver finish..... congatz GILAS so proud of our team
finally Philippines basketball is back on the map again........ and will represent asia along with Iran and Korea in Spain
hoping our basketball stakeholders would finally be united and continue to support our national team.

International retirement on hold as Alapag keen to join Gilas in historic trip to Spain

JIMMY Alapag declared months before that the 27th Fiba-Asia men’s championships will be his last tour of duty for the national team.

Well, change of plans.

....

The Talk 'N Text veteran was one of the main reasons why Gilas was able to punch a ticket to Spain, his clutch three-pointers and daring drives keeping the hosts' head above water in a dramatic 86-79 win over Korea in the semifinal round on Saturday night.
