im not questioning the talents of bill russell's era but the ware and tare a player gets playing 82 games per season plus playoffs games imagine playing on your home court and playing again the next day on the road plus the physicality of the players on MJ's era

What im trying to say is tougher ang competition nun kasi konting teams, mas magagaling ang mga players kumpara ngayon. Every game dapat ilabas mo ang galing mo noon unlike ngayon na pwedeng magaling ka ngayun tapos relax ka sa sunod kasi mahina yung team na katapat mo.

Secondly, the 60's era, was a more physical era. There were no sissy flagrant or hand-check fouls during that time. Refs allowed those physical tactics go unpunished because the owners and NBA management believe that blood and violence was what brought people to basketball games back then.

82 games playing every other day is quite not a good reasons since mas maganda na ngayun ang system sa nba, higher salaries, good hotel accommodations during road games, naka eroplano pa sila, may conditioning coach pa sila, lahat halos ng convenience eh nasa kanila na at higit sa lahat eh yung playing time nila.

i don't know kung anong basis mo sa pagsasabing laging nasa taas ng standing ang team ni bill russell since in 1969, dahil sa injury,  they barely qualified for the playoffs, finishing fourth in the East. The Lakers,  won the West and were prohibitive favorites to finally win it all. Sa kasamaang palad eh natalo sila nila Russell sa game 7. In 1968, Boston overcame a 3–1 deficit against Philadelphia to once again arrive in the Finals. I dont think na ganun sila ka superior sa mga laro kasi usually sa mga finals eh dikit ang mga laban.

I want to share this Coleman' Play where it shows kung gaano siya kagaling dumepensa..

"During the Hawks' losing effort in the 1957 NBA Finals, Coleman became the unwitting victim of one of Bill Russell's greatest defensive plays. In the final game of the series, Coleman had an opportunity to clinch the Hawks' championship with a layup after receiving an outlet pass at midcourt. Bill Russell, who had been standing at his own baseline when the play began, ran the entire length of the floor and managed to block Coleman's shot, preserving the victory for the Celtics. "

Para s akin Larry Bird, Dwayne Wade, Reggie Miller, Allan Caidic...

MJ was definitely the best player for the last few decades, and maybe 10 years from today, the same can also be said of LBJ.

But if you look back at all the NBA greats who have played the game at completeness as a player ang paguusapan, masyado dumbfounding ang numbers and statistics ni Bill Russell. He was the core and leader of that dominant Boston team which is widely considered as the greatest dynasty in the NBA.

Bill Russell is my choice.

bakit nasama si Caidic dito? pero The Triggerman is definitely the finest shooter Philippine basketball has ever produced.

Reggie Miller, maybe one of the greatest clutch player and one of the best shooter in the NBA but not the best ever.

Dwayne Wade, common, he's not the best, and among shooting guards he's not the best either. MJ and Kobe and even Clyde Drexler were ahead of him.

Larry Bird, offensively (specifically shooting the ball) and rebounding he's better than Lebron but overall aspect of basketball. maybe the Birdman is 2nd all-time among the best small forward in the NBA next to LBJ.

Michael Jordan...kasi sya inabutan ko...
don't know Bill Russell, pero siguro MJ pa din ako...kasi that time, una akong nanood ng games ng NBA...

Offline dh@n

that's true.. because of this what we called media hype. but it doesn't justify that because of that, pwede na nating sabihing sya na nga. We are talking here extra ordinary talent and skills..

Even Phil Jackson select Bill Russel over MJ if he asked to start a team considering he handles MJ and he rely only statistically over Russell.

i agree with u sir..cgro nga kung pagbbasihan ung stats d hamak n mas angat c bill russel ky jordan..iba tlg ang nggawa ng media, pero d q kasi sir nkita ung mga laro ni bill russel nuon d p cgro aq pinanganak nun hahaha....naabutan q nung NBA nun was MJ,pmpnta q aq s bhay ng kaibigan q para makinuod lng nung finals, cgro Utah Jazz ung kalaban nila  i just cant remember what year was that.

are u all saying MJ is some kinda overrated??thru media and merits given to him..di kc natin pede i pag compare sila kc mag kaka ibang era sila lumabas...
Eto lang sa kin Wilt and Russell are Centers they should be dominating
Magic and Bird both are 6'9'' they should be dominating
But MJ merely 6'6" how he dominated a not a game but an ERA is quite amazing..kung di xa siguro umalis nung 94 at 95 siguro 8 rings ang Bulls

Who is comparing who? We are looking sir for the greatest person who played basketball. We must find ways how to do it. Anything that matters to determine the greatness of the individual in order to find out. Either, talent, skills, rings, accomplishment, statistics, worthiness in his team, leadership, etc..

Individual greatness cannot be measured by the position he played but the impact he brings to his team. In every aspect i mention above, it only leads to greatness of Bill Russell.

Additional Information: As one of just two who holds the record for the most championships won by an athlete in a North American sports league, the NBA announced that the NBA Finals MVP trophy would be named the Bill Russell NBA Finals Most Valuable Player Award in honor of Russell greatness.

FYI sir, The greatest dynasty in NBA history is Boston Celtics dynasty anchored by no other than Bill Russell.
11 rings in just 13 seasons..
