why would we join, what the group do, what responsibilities are handed along on it and anything else for better understanding

so we would know what we are joining and not be ignorant about it

actually the 3 new groups is more on staff appreciating members who are helping other members based on their knowledge. this serves as a thank you badge from us. but applicants are welcome if they want.
Because upon having this badge to your profile a certain moderating powers can be possessed by the bearer. But it will not add as your responsibility in this site, you will have the normal way on helping other members. But i think there will be more respect coming from your fellow members if you got this badge.
