Nope, what we have right now is not really democracy but a plutocratic form of democracy wherein the rich has the final say.

Anong connect nyan dito? practiced? you mean election? this country has been bought and sold a long time ago, the election is just an illusionary incentive...

Democracy is a good type of government if all citizens will understand what it means and exercise it well hmmm since when philippines had the last good leadership? It because people dont vote wisely,as long as that politicians have money to buy votes they will go for it not thinking what is the consequences when they won.problems of corruption come along then the people are the losers all they can do is whine this and that on their own doing at the very first place..people need to wake up from being comatose and start using their power to choose the right leaders to do the job..its time to show what is the true democracy and how it works.throw the bribery out to the dumpster..

There is no such thing as a democratic state nowadays, its either we embrace plutocracy or fascism.

The concept of democracy is really good... like most of us here, i also believe that the problem is not democracy itself but the people, and the people who leads it.

Come to think about it, kahit anong form of government as long as the people or rather there are people causing a hammock and think only for themselves then any form of government will be useless. Most filipinos lack patriotism to a degree that most of us are eyeing to live in other country, prefer foriegn goods than the local ones, "imported ito thinking", etc...

I've been in other countries myself, and the character of a filipino living in any country change dramatically....filipinos living or working abroad can easily follow any local rules or law of the country such as cleanliness to the sorrounding, peeing on proper place, etc.... but in the Philippines, i don't know why they can not follow a certain sign the says "do not litter". It's the same letters and language? This is what we are in the eyes of other nationality, we respect other culture outside the country but can not respect our own.

When i was in Saudi Arabia and Iran, i can see japanese, koreans and even iranians depend there countrymen in terms of works. You can not say bad things around them that refers to one of their countrymen or you will be in trouble. But some filipinos used other filipinos as stepping stone and then trash them after they have achieve their goal. They were even the cause why some of our fellow filipinos are suffering mistreatment and low salary abroad. Crab mentality to the highest degree.....tsk tsk tsk.....

I have a friend way back, 10 years ago.... He's a mechanical and an electrical engineer but decided to just have a computer shop for a living. He once told me that our country can never really rise-up again as long as the government will be lead by bunch of self-thinking people. He said that the only way to remove this people is to have a reset, building a new government from scratch with a new strong leader... and it will only happen  if we will have a civil war. Of course, i disagree. Being a person that value life to the fullest can never agree to that, but as time pass by, our country is being pulled down dramatically fast by the few people who think first of their pocket... so the solutions that i can think of are; civil war(i still seems to hesitate to agree), elect a leader that extremely afraid of God, elect a leader that extremely value the people's welfare, make our country a monarchy, or a dictator that will take those rich people's company and line it to the government adding it to the government funds......1 guy or family going to be rich is better than all the officials in the government are trying to suck dry the government.

Seems hopeless but i still believe in what we filipinos can do.... but i can only hope for that.....

The question here is not whether or not democracy is good but rather is it effective. Yes we all blame it to our leaders, "hindi sa sistema kung di na namamahala" but is it not also the fault of the system because it doesn't offer contingency solution kung idiot ang namamahala? When the system itself allows mediocrity and stupidity to flourish inside of it then can it not be considered as a faulty system?

unfortunately, i thick the essence of Democracy is being use as self interest by those ignorant politician. As my own opinion, the objective of democracy cannot be fulfilled by only having the democratic form of government that is being supported by its constitution, but it should be in the hearth and soul of those who are in the offices (from Brgy Clerk to National President).

As tax payer and voter... I'm looking forward to maturity of our democracy, politician and my fellow Filipinos.

Are you sure you're one of us? Your command of the English language is as good as the American punks that loiter the streets of Detroit.

No. you're definitely one of them. Ain't that right, bayback?
