JAPANESE AIR-CONDITIONED CLOTHING!

The Japanese have done it again. Japanese company Kuchofuku Co. Ltd has designed a line of air conditioned clothing with built-in fans – a product that proved in demand after the recent tsunami and earthquake. The president of Kuchofuku Co. Ltd, Hiroshi Ichigaya, explained how the clothing came about, saying: “It came to me that we don’t need to cool the entire room, just as long as people in it feel cool.” Businessmen who have no choice but to wear long-sleeved shirts in their hot workplaces have really shown interest in the air-conditioned clothing. The least expensive piece of air-conditioned clothing costs 11,000 yen (an equivalent of US $130), but the lithium-ion battery-powered jacket can provide sufficient cooling for up to 11 hours on a single charge, consuming far less power than that used by a normal air conditioner. So really, if you think about it, this clothing contributes to Japan’s energy-saving efforts, just like the company’s air-conditioned beds, seat cushions, USB cooling neckties (that comes with a small fan in the knot of the tie) or the fan-equipped hats, all of which include the company’s patented plastic mesh system that permits the circulation of air.
