Asi-Japeth tandem, a nightmare for Ginebra foesIf Ginebra could acquire Asi Taulava to partner with Japeth Aguilar, they will have a dangerous tandem that could create huge problems to opposing PBA teams. Both Rain or Shine coach Yeng Guiao and Air21 mentor Franz Pumaren agreed that Alfrancis Chua will be one lucky coach if Ginebra succeeds in adding Taulava to its lineup that already includes Aguilar. In an interview with Spin.ph’s Snow Badua, Guiao said the presence of Tualava and Aguilar will suddenly spike the Gin Kings’ ceiling. “Yung Asi (Taulava) and Japeth (Aguilar) puwede mo kasing palaruin ng sabay `yun. Imagine mo `yun, tapos may import pa sila. So size-wise, walang tatalo sa kanila pag nagkaganoon,” says Yeng Guiao.“Yun lang may Japeth Aguilar ka na, malaking bagay na yun. Kung makukuha pa nila si Asi, mas malaking bagay `yun,” he added. Both players stand 6-foot-9 and possess the agility to create offensive and defensive nightmare against players that will attempt to get in their path. For his part, Pumaren said Chua said will have a “pleasant problem” in his hands if he gets to dispatch both players. He said some of Ginebra’s big men, like Kerby Raymundo and Billy Mamaril, will be inevitably displaced. But at the same time, this will force the other players to prove themselves worthy of their wanted playing minutes.“It will be a happy problem for coach Al. Ang isa pang maganda run, ma-tsa-challenge `yung ibang big men to step up,” sais Pumaren. “Remember Ginebra also has Rico Maierhofer, Rudy Hatfield, and Willie Wilson. Souped-up team na talaga ang Kings if that happens.”Ginebra has recently acquired Aguilar from GlobalPort in a trade that involved five players and several draft picks. The San Miguel franchise now also has the option to get Taulava as his former team, Meralco has opened itself to offers in exchange for the Fil-Tongan’s PBA rights.Taulava, who steered the San Miguel Beermen to an ABL championship, recently voiced out that he want to suit up for the crowd-favorite Gin Kings.Source: http://www.abs-cbnnews.com/sports/06/18/13/asi-japeth-tandem-nightmare-ginebra-foes
