Millsap, Williams help Hawks rally past Bobcats
Associated Press
ATLANTA -- Paul Millsap scored a season-high 31 points, Lou Williams scored 10 of his season-best 28 points in overtime and the Atlanta Hawks rallied to beat the Charlotte Bobcats 118-116 on Saturday night.
Al Jefferson had 24 points and a season-high 23 rebounds, and Gerald Henderson added 22 points for Charlotte.
Playing their first game since leading scorer and rebounder Al Horford suffered a torn pectoral muscle, the Hawks trailed by 14 after Henderson hit a 20-foot fadeaway jumper with 4:19 left in the third quarter.
But Atlanta, which has won two straight and five of six, rallied to force overtime when backup center Pero Antic made a 3-pointer off one leg from the right wing with 3.1 seconds left in regulation.
Jeff Teague finished with 20 points and nine assists for the Hawks. Mike Scott added 18 points, and Millsap pulled down 13 rebounds.
It took until the final seconds of the third for Atlanta to cut the lead to six when Antic blocked three shots by Cody Zeller on the same possession and Williams followed with a 3 from the left sideline to make it 77-71.
Kyle Korver hit a 3 early in the fourth to extend his NBA career record to a 94th consecutive game.
Game notes
With Horford sidelined, Millsap and G DeMarre Carroll are the only Hawks to start and play in all 30 games. ... Hawks coach Mike Budenholzer said before the game that the team doesn't know much time Horford will miss. He tore his right pectoral muscle in Friday's OT win at Cleveland. Two years ago, Horford played in just 11 regular-season games after tearing his left pectoral muscle. . Horford's replacements at center -- Elton Brand, Antic and Gustavo Ayon -- were a combined 2 for 13 from the field for six points.

TS (toni storks) note:
Two former Utah Jazz frontliners played a superb game with the 6'8" Millsap scoring 31 points with 13 rebounds, 2 assists & 2 blocks in 40 minutes playing time for the winner while the 6'10" Jefferson scored 24 points with 23 rebounds in 42 minutes for the losing team. Incidentally, they are both made 10 FGs out of 18 attempts.

Monta Ellis scores 22 as Mavericks blow past Bulls
Associated Press
CHICAGO -- Monta Ellis had 22 points and the Dallas Mavericks took control early in coasting to a 105-83 victory over the Chicago Bulls on Saturday night.
Dirk Nowitzki and Vince Carter added 18 points apiece for the Mavericks, who led by as many as 32 while bouncing back from a home loss to San Antonio on Thursday.
Joakim Noah led Chicago with 20 points and 10 rebounds, but the Bulls had their modest two-game winning streak snapped.
The Mavericks took command with a 15-2 run to end the first quarter, turning a 17-15 deficit into a 30-19 lead. Carter had seven points during the spurt.

Love and 3s help Timberwolves rout Bucks 117-95
Associated Press
MILWAUKEE -- Kevin Love had 33 points and 15 rebounds for his sixth straight double-double, and the Minnesota Timberwolves climbed back to .500 by routing the Milwaukee Bucks 117-95 on Saturday night.
Nikola Pekovic added 19 points and 11 rebounds, and Love hit four of Minnesota's 11 3-pointers. Perimeter defense was once again a huge problem for the Bucks, who have allowed opponents to hit at least 10 3s in seven consecutive games.
Khris Middleton scored 23 points for Milwaukee on 10-of-20 shooting. Larry Sanders had nine points and 10 rebounds in 33 minutes, his first start since missing seven weeks following right thumb surgery.
The Bucks fell to an NBA-worst 6-24, while Minnesota evened its record at 15-15.
Coach Rick Adelman's club snapped a three-game losing streak on the road behind typically stellar play from Love and long-range shooting.
Kevin Martin (20 points) smiled after his shot from the wing bounced perilously off the rim a couple of times before falling through the net for a 24-point lead with 4:32 left in the third quarter.
The Timberwolves led by as many as 31 before the Bucks mounted a late charge to get to a slightly more respectable deficit.
If only Milwaukee could have contained Minnesota from the perimeter. The Timberwolves, the league's third-highest scoring team (106.1 points per game) shot 45 percent from 3-point territory after hitting at a 33 percent clip for the season.
Corey Brewer (12 points) got the fun started by freezing rookie Giannis Antetokounmpo on the perimeter and hitting an 18-footer.
Mayo finished with 19 points off the bench while Brandon Knight added 18 points and five assists. The Bucks had 20 turnovers, leading to 25 points for Minnesota.
Game notes
Bucks C John Henson had to celebrate his birthday on the bench with a left leg injury. Henson, who turned 23, said he thought he might have a high ankle sprain, though he is supposed to undergo more tests to determine exactly what's ailing him. It is unclear how long he might be out. ... F Luc Richard Mbah a Moute, drafted by the Bucks in 2008, returned to Milwaukee for the first time since being traded in the offseason to Sacramento. The Kings traded him to Minnesota last month for F Derrick Williams.

Rockets use late rally to take down Pelicans
Associated Press
HOUSTON -- The Houston Rockets had trouble hitting shots and finding a rhythm through the first three quarters against New Orleans on Saturday night, doing just enough to hang with the Pelicans.
In the fourth, the Rockets -- led by James Harden and Jeremy Lin for a second straight game -- were able to finish things off.
Dwight Howard had 24 points and 18 rebounds, and Harden scored 11 of his 21 points in the fourth quarter in the Rockets' 107-98 comeback victory.
"It was winning time," Harden said. "I was struggling the first three quarters and couldn't find the rhythm when my teammates needed me the most. We got the ball moving and Jeremy made a couple of good threes. Chandler (Parsons) had a good put back and then Dwight got an and-one. Everybody picked up the intensity a little bit."
It was the second straight game Houston rallied in the fourth for a win and marked the first time since December 2009 that the Rockets have won three straight games within the division. Houston beat San Antonio on Christmas and topped Memphis on Thursday night.
"We didn't shoot it well," Houston coach Kevin McHale said. "I know at one time I looked up, I thought we were two for 19 from the three-point line. It felt like they made every three. They were 10 for 22. ... We found a way to win, but it was another in a long line of games that feel like you are pulling teeth."
Howard was 10 of 12 from the floor, helping to keep Houston in the game through the first three quarters with 20 points in that span.
Parsons added 19 points and seven rebounds, and Terrence Jones had 17 points and eight rebounds to help Houston win its third straight game and snap New Orleans' winning streak at two.
Lin had all 10 of his points in the fourth quarter after scoring 14 of his 18 points in the fourth against Memphis. The Rockets made three of five 3-point attempts in the fourth quarter after going 3 of 21 from long range in the first three quarters.
Houston was 25 of 32 from the free-throw line, while New Orleans was 6 of 8.
Ryan Anderson had 22 points and 12 rebounds for New Orleans. Anthony Davis added 18 points and 16 rebounds, and Tyreke Evans had 16 points and nine assists.

Plumlee's career-high 22 lead Suns past 76ers
Associated Press
PHOENIX -- Miles Plumlee scored a career-high 22 points to go with 13 rebounds, and the Phoenix Suns bounced back from their worst loss of the season to beat the Philadelphia 76ers 115-101 Saturday night.
Goran Dragic added 21 points and Eric Bledsoe 20 for the Suns, who have won nine of 11. Marcus Morris made three fourth-quarter 3-pointers and scored 18.
Thaddeus Young scored 30 points, Michael Carter-Williams 27 and Tony Wroten 22 for the 76ers, who lost their 13th road game in a row and have dropped nine of 10 overall.
Evan Turner, Philadelphia's leading scorer at 19.3 points per game, sat out to rest his sore right knee.
Game notes
Young's string of 10 consecutive 3-pointers ended when he misfired with 6 minutes to go in the second quarter. ... Philadelphia won its first road game of the season and none since. ... The Suns improved to 11-4 at home.
Copyright by STATS LLC and The Associated Press
TS (toni storks) note:
Phoenix' Miles Plumlee is having a breakout season. After merely playing for Indiana Pacers in 2012-13 season (55 minutes total playing time for the whole season), he now averaged 10.1 ppg, 9.2 rpg, 1.8 bpg in 28 min./game.
