Jennings leads Pistons over Bulls 92-75
AP - Sports

CHICAGO (AP) -- Brandon Jennings and Detroit's big men helped the Pistons to a rare win in Chicago.

Jennings scored 33 points and the Pistons beat the short-handed Bulls 92-75 on Saturday night for their fourth consecutive victory.

Andre Drummond (14 rebounds), Greg Monroe (12) and Josh Smith (10) led Detroit to a 51-44 rebounding edge as the Pistons (10-10) stretched their road winning streak to four games dating to Nov. 24.

It was Detroit's first regular-season win in Chicago since Feb. 24, 2006. The Pistons' previous victory at the United Center occurred during the 2007 playoffs.

''Our defense really stepped up,'' Jennings said. ''Everybody was talking, looking to rebound. That's probably the best second half we've had all year.''

It was a season-low point total for the Bulls (8-10), who shot 33 percent from the floor while playing without leading scorer Luol Deng. The small forward was sidelined by tightness in his left calf.

Taj Gibson led Chicago with 21 points and 10 rebounds. Mike Dunleavy Jr. scored 16 and Carlos Boozer finished with 13 points.

Kirk Hinrich had five turnovers, four assists and four steals in 36 minutes. Marquis Teague had 10 points in 17 minutes. He came in averaging 10 minutes per game.

Kyle Singler scored 12 points for Detroit, and Josh Harrellson had 10.

James' rebounding sparks Heat over Wolves
AP - Sports

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) -- The Miami Heat walked into Target Center with a big problem over the previous two games - they had been dominated on the glass.

The reigning NBA MVP had 21 points, eight assists and 14 boards for his first double-digit rebounding game of the season, leading the Heat to a 103-82 victory over the Minnesota Timberwolves on Saturday night.

Dwyane Wade had 19 points and five rebounds in his return from a two-game absence and the Heat controlled the glass until garbage time after getting hammered on the boards by Detroit and Chicago in consecutive losses. James' 14 boards were the most he's had for the Heat in a regular season game.

''Don't talk about it, just go do it,'' James said. ''To me, when I say it, I go and make it happen.''

Kevin Martin scored 19 points for the Timberwolves. But they sorely missed Kevin Love, who was with his family following the death of his grandmother on Wednesday night.

The Wolves shot a franchise-low 29.3 percent while the Heat made 55 percent of their shots to overcome 20 turnovers.

''We didn't play very tough tonight,'' Martin said. ''The champs showed us how it's done.''

The Heat haven't lost three in a row in the regular season since January 2012. And James wasn't about to revisit that slide.

''We don't like losing back-to-back games, and we definitely don't want to lose three in a row,'' James said. ''So it was a good pick-up game after the loss to Chicago.''

The Heat were bludgeoned on the boards 49-27 by the Bulls on Wednesday night and 46-34 by the Pistons on Tuesday night. Heat coach Erik Spoelstra spoke on Saturday morning of needing all five players on the floor to attack the glass because they don't have a singular rebounding force like the Wolves do.

Minnesota just barely won the rebounding battle, 45-44. But the Heat won on the defensive glass, 37-28.

Nikola Pekovic had 18 points and 12 rebounds for the Wolves, who were playing after a game against San Antonio in Mexico City on Wednesday night was postponed due to smoke in the arena.

Minnesota point guard Ricky Rubio struggled mightily with one point on 0-for-4 shooting, six assists and six turnovers.

''It seems like we were scared,'' Rubio said. ''That can't happen.''

NOTES: Chris Bosh had nine rebounds for the Heat. ... Love is expected to practice Sunday and be in uniform for the Wolves' next game against the Pistons on Tuesday.

TS (toni storks) view:
As long as Chris Bosh start at center for the Heat, expect other team to dominate them off the board. Bosh for me is the 'softiest' NBA player right now. :peace:

Thompson has 30 and Warriors top Grizzlies 108-82
AP - Sports

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) -- Klay Thompson erased a previous bad outing by scoring early and in the process helped himself accomplish a first in his NBA career.

Thompson scored 30 points Saturday night and the Golden State Warriors ended an 11-game losing skid to Memphis, defeating the short-handed Grizzlies 108-82.

''I've been in this league three years, and I haven't beaten them in three years,'' said Thompson, who was limited to five points in a loss at Houston on Friday. ''So, to finally get a win, the way we did, it felt great to win big like that.''

David Lee added 23 points for the Warriors and Stephen Curry scored 20 of his 22 points in the second half, despite shooting 7 of 16 on the night. Curry matched his career-best with 15 assists, two more Memphis' team total.

''Klay was hot early, and we had some matchups we wanted to attack,'' Curry said. ''On pick-and-rolls, they were basically trapping and trying to get the ball out of my hands. You can't force anything, so you trust your teammates to make plays.''

Mike Miller led the Grizzlies with 16 points, while Jon Leuer and Zach Randolph added 15 points each. Mike Conley finished with 12 points, but was 4 of 12 from the field, part of Memphis shooting 37 percent. Kosta Koufos had 10 points and 16 rebounds.

Lee had 11 rebounds and Andrew Bogut grabbed 12 boards to help Golden State outrebound Memphis 47-40 while shooting 50 percent. Memphis was limited to 2 of 10 from beyond the arc as the Warriors rebounded from Friday's 105-83 loss at Houston.

Notes: Curry had led Golden State in scoring the past five games. However, he did keep his streak of leading the Warriors in assists. He has led the team in eight straight. ... Miller led the Grizzlies in scoring, becoming the eighth player to lead Memphis in scoring the past eight games.

TS (toni storks) view:
Kosta Koufos is doing a good job at center as replacement for the injured Marc Gasol. He is a silent operator, doing the dirty job, the hard picks, the rebounding and even scoring.

For me and barring any injuries, the duo of Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson is the best starting backcourt in the NBA right now.

George, Pacers power past Spurs 111-100
AP - Sports

SAN ANTONIO (AP) -- This was no ordinary victory for Paul George and the Indiana Pacers. They know how difficult it is to beat the San Antonio Spurs.

George scored 28 points and Indiana defeated San Antonio 111-100 on Saturday night, snapping an 11-game skid against the Spurs.

''It means a lot,'' George said. ''We haven't won here since 2002. So it definitely means that we're onto something. Something great is going on in here, if we just continue to keep on this path, we have a positive future.''

David West had 20 points and Lance Stephenson scored 15 for the Pacers, who enjoyed a 41-34 rebounding edge. Roy Hibbert and Luis Scola each had 12 points and 10 boards.

''I couldn't be happier with how they played, particularly in the second and third quarter,'' Pacers coach Frank Vogel said. ''Second quarter, getting back in the game, but in the third quarter, really busting it open. Tough to pick a star in the game with as many contributions as we got. Just great balance and a great team win.''

Kawhi Leonard scored 18 points for San Antonio, which has dropped three of five. Manu Ginobili added 16 points, Tony Parker had 13 and Tim Duncan finished with 10.

Indiana had lost 12 straight in San Antonio and appeared headed for a baker's dozen early on.

Ginobili's 3-pointer with 9:46 remaining in the first half gave the Spurs a 35-22 lead. It was their largest lead, but also the start of the team's fall as the Pacers' starting five overwhelmed their counterparts.

''We give a lot of credit to Indiana,'' Parker said. ''They just played better than us.''

Indiana closed the first half on a 30-18 run and opened the second half with a 12-2 spree.

NOTES: The Pacers' last victory against the Spurs was 100-99 on April 1, 2007, in Indianapolis. Their last victory in San Antonio was 92-82 on Jan. 4, 2002. ... Spurs C Tiago Splitter in the first half with tightness in his left calf. Splitter was questionable to play due to the calf injury, but got the start anyway. He finished with two points and two rebounds in eight minutes.

TS (toni storks) view:
Finally after this win, I became a believer of this Pacers team. The starting 5 is great, the bench is one of the deepest in the league, (maybe the 2nd best after the Spurs), Frank Vogel is a brilliant coach. They are winning even without the injured Danny Granger.

Ellis hits winner and Mavs beat Blazers 108-106
AP - Sports

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) -- Monta Ellis hit a 21-foot jumper at the buzzer and the Dallas Mavericks snapped the Portland Trail Blazers' four-game winning streak with a 108-106 victory on Saturday night.

Ellis finished with 22 points and Dirk Nowitzki had 28 for the Mavericks' third straight win.

Damian Lillard had 32 points for the Blazers, including a 3-pointer with 1.9 seconds left that tied it at 106.

It was just the second loss at home this season for the red-hot Blazers (17-4), who lead the Western Conference and are off to their best start since the 1990-91 season.

Lillard's 3-pointer closed Portland within 90-91 and he added another to tie it with 3:58 left. But Nowitzki made two jumpers to keep the Blazers from taking the lead.

Robin Lopez's hook shot and a pair of free throws from Nicolas Batum evened it again at 98. Nowitzki's 3-point play was followed by Batum's short jumper before Ellis drained a 3-pointer from the corner to make it 104-100 for Dallas with 1:40 left. He added a fadeaway with 45.9 to go.

Batum made a falling-down 3-pointer to pull the Blazers within 106-103 before Lillard's 3 tied it.

Batum finished with 22 points for the Blazers, who were coming off a 130-98 rout of the Utah Jazz on Friday night. LaMarcus Aldridge added 19 points and 13 rebounds for his 11th double-double this season.

The Mavs (13-8) were coming off a 100-97 victory at New Orleans on Wednesday.

NOTES: Blazers head coach Terry Stotts was an assistant to Mavs coach Rick Carlisle before coming to Portland. ... Mavericks assistant coach Kaleb Canales was a former Portland assistant and served as interim head coach of the Blazers at the end of the 2011-12 season before Stotts was hired.

TS (toni storks) note:
DeJuan Blair played for his 2nd straight start replacing erstwhile starting center Samuel Dalembert.
