Social Media = Life (Present and Future)

Meron akong research about Social Media at gusto kong makuha opinion nyo about it. Parang informal questnaires ko kumbaga although hindi macocover neto buong subject ko as international.

Malaki na pinagbago ang buhay natin ngayon kumpara sa nakaraang dekada. Isa na dyan ang internet at ang Social media. Marami sa atin ang naaadik sa social media lalo na sa Facebook, Tweeter, Inta at iba pa. Ito marahil ang dahilan kung bakit pag nabanggit ang Social media eh naiisip ko agad Facebook pero hindi lang nman FB ang maituturing na SM dahil kung gumamit ka ng computer at internet as a way of communication, maituturing na rin itong Social media. So andyan ang Viber, wechat, Tango atbp libreng tawag gamit ang internet.

Ang tanong ko paano nabago ang buhay mo sa pagkakaroon ng social media, ito ba ay napabuti or napasama? What are the advantages and disadvantages of social media? Nararapat ban pagaksayahan ng panahon ang social media? Sa tingin nyo ano ang mangyayari sa future neto, magkakaroon ba ng bagong innovation o mapapalitan ba ito ng bagong trend? Gusto ko makuha yung seryosong opinyon nyo.

What are the advantages and disadvantages of social media?

Advantages
- Easy way to communicate and be updated
- More affordable way to communicate
- Can help expand your business through online promotion, either free or sponsored links

Disadvantages
- Can be quite addicting and take up too much of a person's time to do other productive things

Nararapat ban pagaksayahan ng panahon ang social media?

- Yes, its the wave of the future. Pag hindi tayo sumabay ay tiyak na mapag iiwanan tayo. Sabi nga ng boss ko, the future is on STEM (Science, TECHNOLOGY, Engineering, Mathematics).

Sa tingin nyo ano ang mangyayari sa future neto?

- A lot more innovations.

Medyo madaming reports...

Pero one thing for sure...

Naimprove nang social media ang way of communication natin...

Mabridge yung layo nang magkakaibigan, magkakamag-anak at mahal sa buhay...

Kung may masamang epekto man ang social media...

Yun ay depende din sa gumagamit at sa kanyang paggamit...

Dapat mas maging responsable ang mga tao sa paggamit nang social media...

Wouldn't it be ironic if you conclude that social media is more harmful than good when you use the very same medium to find that out?

A: In some ways it has affected my life positively. I have been able to meet a lot of new people online who have become face-to-face friends. But I began to spend an inordinate time online, so I can't say that my life has not been affected negatively.

As I've said this is an informal questionaire and it will not cover my subject as a whole. I don't think all social media user thinks that it is good/bad, it depends on the person using it. My conlusion will not be based on your replies, my sole purpose here is to hear your opinion regarding this. On the contrary you will not ask this questions to those person who don't have any idea of social media, right? So, I think the best way is to ask them using the medium itself because they have experience it upfront and knows the effects.

one must go with the flow or else be shuttered forever.. people keeps on innovating avenues for them to conveneniently communicate with each other... the only disadvantage i could think of is how people gravely used this form of communication into bickering or abusing innocent people for their own personal consumption...

Hmm...

Meron both good and bad I suppose, like most things masama ang sobra.

The good:

-Ease of communication.
-Faster arrival of news.
-More transparency cause everyone can actually say anything at any moment.
-Less censorship and less hassle to communicate.
-Used to be that you only get your news on TV, Radio and Paper but now people who were actually there can tell you themselves.
-The spread of knowledge is quicker and easier.
-The world is smaller, people you would like to communicate is a click a way and you get to meet new and interesting people.
-Good influence and camaraderie.

On to the cons:

-Everyone can say anything about anyone at anytime.
-Cyber bullying.
-Libelous nonsense posts.
-Spread of asinine idea is quicker.
-We usually take for granted the person on the other end now that it's so easy to connect at anytime unlike before.

-It kinda fosters more self-centered ideas, like stuff that someone posts on Facebook that not many people really cares about like you had walked your dog or some other some crap like that that normally wouldn't really enter into a face to face conversation.

-Bragging rights, bragging rights everywhere.
-Less time to do productive things.
-Can be addictive.
-Can distort someone's reality, and life can pass them by.
-More crazy ideas going around and might twist your perspective on things.
-Easy to meet weird people that under normal circumstances you would stay away from.
-Bad influence and new people to quarrel with.

About trends, they always change. People will get tired of Facebook and from its ashes a new player comes along, like how people got tired of Friendster and MySpace, that's why FB is trying its best to stay relevant and scooping up startups for its very survival.

We have seen new and old players with their own different twist like 4chan, Reddit and some new fangled stuffs that I haven't gotten into very much like Tumblr and Pinterest.

I never understood the appeal of Twitter though. Heh.. Old man Prime I guess.

I'm sure there will be innovations, if the money is there, someone is sure to deliver. Most of these big sites are ran by big companies, investors, shareholders CEO's. I'm sure as heck they will look for new ideas to milk the cow.

I read that only 40% of the people living in the world has internet so you can extrapolate how many has accessed and has used social media. Perhaps a third of the world population. So two-third of us just continue living our daily lives without facebook, twitter and just communicate basically by talking, standard phone or get their info through TV, books or prints. That's a big chunk of mankind that we can label as "unconnected" and but not "behind" or "uninformed". For all we know, these people maybe the most contented among us, modest simple living away from the grind of virtual rat race that many of us are accustomed. Do they choose not to be connected? Maybe a few of them. If you can also get answers from this group, that will make this interesting.

I get the point ni sir caligula na that would be a good point of view...

Pero I also have a question...

Paano kaya natin makukuha ang stand nang mga hindi connected...

Yung slight instance na makita nila ang mga question na katulad nito from any form of social media, facebook or other forms... Pati na din dito sa PT...

Will be considered na pagiging connected nila sa ibang users... So we can almost say that will never happen because they chose not to stay connected...

Therefore, almost all of us na nag-answer dito or nakabasa can be considered na user nang social media... We can also tell kung ano ang pros and cons of doing so...

Good point Adidas. I bet you feel good now for telling me to shut the f-uck up. I will after I give my side.

Too bad my response got misconstrued. I'm merely suggesting to expand the survey to include the demographics that opted not to use or may have used but eventually resolved to abandon social media.

Good luck sa research mo. And to answer you, Yes I do understand Tagalog, kahit na galing ako sa ibayong celestial galaxy, I have adapted pretty well to life here on earth as a Pinoy.

nakakaintindi ka pala ng tagalog bat hindi mo makuha yung point ko na hindi ako concentrated sa part na ito. sabi ko nga unofficial questionaire ito. meron po akong official Qs na ginagamit at dun nakaconcentrate ang research na ito. gets mo?

As OFW malaking tulong ang Social Media sakin, nababawasan ng konte ang pagka-miss ko sa Family ko, nalalaman ko mga nangyayare sa kanila sa mga Friends ko at minsan pati balita narin sa Pilipinas na walang halong filter ng ibang Media.

Isa ring advantage ng social media is keeps me motivate my self to work more lalu na pag nakikita ko kung anong meron ang mga friends ko.... you know what i mean.

And disadvantage nya lang nakikita ko is, pag meron ng taong gumawa ng fake account at nag pretend at binubully na ibang tao or sinisiraan na yung ibang tao...

In the future from my perspective nakikita ko ang social media lalu itong mag_gogrow lalu na papunta na tayo sa digital age... at magiging strict na siguro ang mga flatform like facebook sa mga fake account... $:-\$
