bakit po kaya natanggal sa line up si calvin abueva? siya ang puso ng team.

ang alam kung original na puso ng Gilas, si Pingris.

parang maliit kasi si Abueva sa 3 position (small forward) at around 6'2". . pero kung ako lang coach, I'll take him instead of Reyes.

Indonesia gave the Philippines a better challenge this time around.

But just like the 2017 SEABA Championships just last May, Gilas Pilipinas remains as the undisputed king of ASEAN basketball.

The Philippines took care of Indonesia Saturday at the MABA Stadium in Kuala Lumpur, 94-55, winning gold in the 2017 Southeast Asian Games.

It's the country's 12th straight SEA Games gold medal in men's basketball and 18th overall.

Both the Philippines and Indonesia entered the Final undefeated and the Indonesians actually gave Gilas fits in the first 10 minutes.

However, guard Mike Tolomia sparked an uprising in the second quarter ad Gilas got some much-needed separation.

Tolomia fired three triples on his way to 11 points in the first half as the Philippines entered the break with a 45-27 lead.

Gilas continued to pound on Indonesia in the second half and come the fourth quarter, the gold medal was sealed after two highlight dunks by teenage sensation Kobe Paras.

Tolomia finished with a game-high 20 points off the bench, 15 coming from beyond the arc, while Paras added 14 points on a perfect 6-of-6 shooting.

Raymar Jose and Christian Standhardinger likewise finished in double figures for the Philippines with 12 and 11 points respectively.

Individual records were also set in this rousing victory by Gilas Pilipinas.

Kiefer Ravena won a record fourth SEA Games gold medal. Perhaps his final shot in the biennial meet was a booming stepback triple that gave the Philippines its biggest lead and final tally, 94-55.

Ray Parks and Kevin Ferrer won their third gold medals, tying Rommel Adducul for second most.

Diftha Pratama and Sandy Kurniawan carried the fight for Indonesia, winners of back-to-back silver medals, with 10 points each.

The scores:

Philippines (94) - Tolomia 20, Paras 14, Jose 12, Standhardinger 11, Rosario 8, Ravena 7, Cruz 6, Ferrer 5, Pessumal 5, Amer 4, Parks, Jr. 2, Vosotros 0.

Indonesia (55) - Pratama 10, Kurniawan 10, Wisnu 6, Enguio 5, Sitepu 4, Dhyaksa 4, Nugroho 4, Kosasih 4, Wuysang 2, Grahita 2, Sitorus 2, Lakudu 2.

Quarters: 19-15, 45-27, 67-38, 94-55

Philippines v Australia basketball: FIBA Suspension details:

The International Basketball Federation (Fiba) has suspended 13 players after an on-court brawl during a World Cup qualifying tie between the Philippines and Australia earlier this month.

Ten Philippine players have been banned for 35 games between them, while three Australians will miss a sum of nine.

Both sides' national federations have been charged, with the Philippines fined 250,000 Swiss francs (£191,703).

Australia have been fined 100,000 Swiss francs (£76,681).

In addition to the player bans, the Philippines have been ordered to play their next home game behind closed doors, and head coach Vincent 'Chot' Reyes has been suspended for one game and fined 10,000 Swiss francs (£7,668).

Fiba has also removed the game's referees from its Elite Programme, and they will not officiate at any Fiba-sanctioned competitions for a period of up to one year.

The fight broke out on 2 July, in the third quarter of Australia's 89-53 win at the 55,000-capacity Philippine Arena in Manila.

Thirteen players were ejected from the game, and it had to be later stopped after the Philippines were left with just one player on court.

Suspensions in full
Philippines:

Japeth Aguilar and Matthew Wright (one game each)

Terence Romeo, Jayson Castro William, Andray Blatche and Jeth Rosario (three games each)

Roger Pogoy, Carl Cruz and Jio Jalalon (five games each)

Assistant Coach Joseph Uichico (three games)

Head Coach Vincent 'Chot' Reyes (one game)

both teams are not entirely blameless. Too bad, what happend will reflect on us, being the host country , kahit naman the aussies were provoking us with trashtalk Gilas should have not lost their control. Admittedly, the Philippine team was obviously caught up in a pressure of a faulty situation wherein they should have seen less of themselves and their egos and remember instead, what real sportmanship is all about.
