Before Facebook, Friendster and Myspace was introduced & became a hit, there was mIRC

If you did (an mIRC chatter like me) what channel do you usual go?


I used to hang out in #otti & #pastar channel where most chatters were grade school & high school students like me during those years (2003 - 2005). Mostly were Paulinians (from Pasig & Q.C.), Povedans, I.C.A. (Parañaque), S.H.S., KNOLLERS , C.S.A., La Sallians (from Zobel and Greenhills), Southville Intl', Ateneans, Claretians, Marist, Dil. Prep., & Don Bosco as far as I remember. Yup I chatted most of them, and we used to know each other through our mIRC nicknames and of course see each other (mostly girls) every time they have a school fair. We don't mIRC for s e x at first, we do it for fun, meet interesting people, for socializing, then comes the *teenage s e x part*. Hahaha

I'm not much into chat, pero I definitely heard of mIRC. I seem to recall this was a big deal nung nag umpisa palang sa social networking, along with the likes of YM and ICQ.

I didn't know going strong pa pala mIRC. Cool, mate.

I was once addicted to mIRC but not the chatting part.  There are trivia and IQ games there that I like playing.  I forgot the servers and the name of these games...

before ko nadiscover ang ym ,,,medyo naadik ako dito
pero madalas mga wholesome channels napupuntahan ko,,dun kasi ako nakakatagpo ng pwedeng idate
ung medyo hinde wholesome #taglibog yata un,,me nameet din ako dun tapos niyaya niya ako sa grand eb kasi matagal na siyang member,,di lang ako nakapunta kasi malayo masyado ung venue

YM ako nuon year 2002 halos mga naka tambay sa room meron din silang mIRC pero dko na try kasi mas ok na sakin yun YM for passtime .. kumpleto din kasi nuon sa YM from music,QnA,religion at showtime rooms bwahahaha!!

Yes,i was an mirc chatter before..yon yong time na bago pa ako dito at yong isang friend ko sinabi sakin about it kaya yon nagsign up ako and it was fun then marami ka rin makainteract kaso nde ko na alam kung meron pa ang mirc tagal na yon more than a decade lol..

Yes! Ako rin more than a decade na. I think that was year 2001 hanggang 2007. Undernet channels lang ako umiikot noon.

Familiar din ako sa #undernet channel before din, kasing dami syang ng mga chatters sa #manila and #qc channel. I tried chatting there (undernet) pero puro 20+ nakaka chat ko and I always have to pretend that I'm 17 y.o. for acceptance hahaha.
