New Lamborghini Huracan revealed as a 610-hp raging bull

The Gallardo: The best selling Lamborghini in history, with over 14,000 sold since its birth almost a decade ago. But despite a stellar run, all good things must come to an end. And then be replaced by something else named after an ancient Spanish fighting bull — like the new Lamborghini Huracán.

Under the hood it's business as usual: the 5.2-liter V-10 from the Gallardo remains, but power is pushed 58 ponies to 610 hp, while torque improves 15 lb.-ft. to 413. Thanks to its electronic all-wheel drive system, the Huracán sprints to 60 mph in 3.2 seconds, reaching a top speed of 201 mph. Tipping the scales at 3,134 lbs., the chassis features a composite aluminum and carbon-fiber mix, and arrives with carbon-ceramic brakes as standard. Magnetic dampers are optional; a wise selection for those who enjoys the ability to walk after a weekend drive. A specially designed seven-speed dual clutch transmission promises the usual Lamborghini SNAP, while perhaps displaying a little more civility than the single clutch transmissions in the outgoing Gallardo and current Aventador.

The interior features a digital display cluster, more leather, the sloping center console from the Aventador and some Alcantara accents. And the exterior? Well, there's some Murcielago, Gallardo, and whole lot of Aventador. To my eyes, it's perhaps the best looking car Sant'Agata currently makes; it's somehow refined, not as brash, and yet still slaps you in the face like Don Corleone.

We don't yet know the pricing for the Huracán, but we'll see the new supercar in the flesh at Geneva in March. Will it prove to be as successful as the Gallardo? If its looks are anything to go by, it's certainly on the right track. Watch the (kind of cheesy) video below to see the Huracán in action.
