10. Stuff Over Burger Cafe
This new spot’s Regular Burger (P95) is a no-nonsense creation containing a beef patty, a slice of tomato, a ring of fresh white onion, and several pieces of lettuce. Ask them to go easy on the ketchup so you can really taste the smoky flavor of the burger meat. The soft sesame seed bun? No complaints there.

9. Slammer Burgers
Don't let the no-frills appearance of these Bacon Mushroom Melt Sliders (P95) fool you. They may be small, but they are packed with so much flavor. The cheese spread blends nicely with the mini patties, chopped bacon, and mushroom bits. They come in twos so they'll fill your tummy just like any regular-sized burger.

8. Little Quiapo
The Hamburger (P99) is served unadorned—with just the patty inserted into the sliced sesame seed bun. A bit of coleslaw, a slice of carrot, and cucumber are served on the side. You'll appreciate the logic of the presentation when you bite into the burger. The patty has a flavor profile similar to chorizo that most people find it unnecessary to mess with its sweet-salty-peppery taste. Then again, it goes pretty well with the coleslaw, carrot, and cucumber. It's a not-so-usual combination that's a pleasant gustatory surprise.

7. Max's
The house that fried chicken built also boasts of the Max's Chicken Burger (P86.90), which features a chicken meat patty topped with creamy coleslaw and a slice of cheddar cheese. The smattering of sesame seeds on the burger bun gives it some nuttiness while the pickles layer on a bit of tang. We do love the fact that potato chips are also served on the side.

6. Tokyo Tokyo
The first thing you notice about this Cheeseburger (P85) is that the bun has black and white sesame seeds instead of the usual single color. The beef patty, which is blanketed by a slice of cheese, lies on a bed of shredded lettuce that's drenched in just the right amount of Japanese mayonnaise. The mayonnaise has the slightest hint of wasabi heat, an easily acquired taste. In a word, it's delicious.

5. Shopwise Cubao Soda Fountain
We found out by accident that this particular branch of the supermarket chain has a food stop near its baked goods aisles. The Hamburger with Cheese (P65) is a yummy mess—but that doesn’t make us love it less. The bun has bits of toasted oats on it and the beef patty—along with the lettuce and the chunky cucumber slice—is drenched in Thousand Island dressing with an extra-tangy kick. Truth be told, the patty is well-seasoned enough that you don't really need the cheese or that much dressing.

4. Good Burger
The Just Burger Best (P95) is a hearty creation featuring lean chicken patty in a plain bun, seasoned with a staple mayonnaise-ketchup mix. The patty is nicely moist and the bare burger makes sure nothing gets in the way of its flavor. Plus, hardcore vegetarians can opt for the veggie patty version. There's something for everyone.

3. Razon's
It's probably a little-known fact that this halo-halo joint has a Homeburger (P80) that deserves at least some of the limelight. Never mind the corny portmanteau, the beef patty's flavor is enhanced by just a hint of smokiness. Except for two tomato slices on the side, it doesn’t have any condiments, but only because it doesn't really need any help.

Bohi's comments:  I remember eating in Tropical Hut when I was a kid.  There are still branches around but they are an endangered specie.

2. Tropical Hut
The Super Cheeseburger Classic (P95) lives up to its name. The savory beef patty is enveloped by a sesame seed bun that’s firm on the outside and fluffy inside. It also contains lettuce, cheddar cheese, tomato, and cucumber. A light coating of mayonnaise finishes it off. When it's good as it is, we can only imagine how it would taste with other toppings.

1. The Snack Shack
The hefty Quarter Pounder with Cheese (P70) boasts of a grilled-before-your-eyes patty that's so unbelievably juicy, you'll feel like you've died and gone to Carnivore Heaven when you take a bite. It comes with cheddar cheese, lettuce, tomato, and a couple of rings of raw white onion, plus a dollop of mustard. It sure doesn't hurt that the sesame seed bun is soft and fluffy. The Snack Shack burgers are grilled and made to order, so there’s a minimum 15-minute waiting time—this, apart from the crowds and long lines. But for burger this good, you’ll always be more than willing to stick around.
