Shun Oguri To Act Alongside Jerry Yan For Lupin III Live Action Movie



A surprising additional cast member for the much talked about live action film adaptation of the popular Shounen manga "Lupin III" has been revealed.

Shun Oguri was initially given the title role and will play as 'Arsene Lupin III', the grandson of the gentleman thief, 'Arsene Lupin'. He eventually became a sleek thief himself. In addition, Taiwanese actor/singer Jerry Yan will be joining the star-studded cast, playing the character of Lupin III's top rival.

The 36-year-old actor, who played the Taiwanese 'Tsukasa Domyouji', 'Dao Ming Si' in Meteor Garden and Oguri who played the role of 'Rui Hanazawa' in Hana Yori Dango are familiar actors in both drama series and fans will surely be delighted to hear this news since it is the first time that the two actors will be working together.

Although the actress who will portray as Lupin III's love interest 'Fujiko Mine' has not been revealed, Arashi's Sho Sakurai and actor Satoshi Tsumabuki has been confirmed to be part of the movie earlier. Filming has started in Bangkok and will continue in other locations. It is scheduled for a Spring 2014 releas

The Lupin III franchise will be getting a live action film adaption in the summer of 2014, starring Shun Oguri (Captain Harlock, Gokusen , Space Brothers). According to media Oguri underwent 10 months of action training for this role, losing 8KG.

Additional cast includes Meisa Kuroki (Crow Zero) , Tetsuji Tamayama (NANA,Casshern) , Gou Ayano (Rurouni Kenshin, Bunny Drop) and Tadanobu Asano (Thor , 47 Ronin). Ryuhei Kitamura (Godzilla: Final Wars, Azumi) will be directing the film while Mataichiro Yamamoto (Crow Zero, Azumi) is in charge of the script.

The film will chronicle how the five main characters meet and how they became the "Lupin Crew". The film will also include an original character as Lupin’s nemesis Michael Lee, who will be played by Jerry Yan from Taiwanese pop group F4. Other cast members include South Korean actor Kim Joon and Thai actors Thanayong Wongtrakul and Nirut Sirijanya, Australian actor Nick Tate and Thai singer Yaya Ying.

The film had began filming on October 3rd, and will film for one week in Japan, afterward the crew will film in Thailand for two months as principal photography ends in December.
