(Volleyball) NU still perfect after trouncing FEU

MANILA, Philippines – Still undefeated, the National University Lady Bulldogs is now assured of a spot in the quarterfinals after sweeping Far Eastern University, 25-19, 25-23, 25-19, in the Shakey’s V-League Season 11 First Conference, Thursday, April 10, at the Filoil Flying-V Arena in San Juan City.

After a stellar performance their last win over San Sebastian, the Santiago Sisters once again spearheaded NU as they combined for 22 points, leading the Lady Bulldogs to their fourth straight win to remain the only unbeaten team in the tournament.

(NBA) NBA Global Games 2014 goes to 3 continents

NEW YORK, USA – The National Basketball Association (NBA) announced Thursday, April 10 that as part of its effort to connect with its fans globally, NBA teams will play 5 preseason games in 4 countries this October as part of NBA Global Games 2014.

As part of the schedule, 5 teams – the Brooklyn Nets, Cleveland Cavaliers, Miami Heat, Sacramento Kings, and San Antonio Spurs – will play a series of games in 5 cities in Brazil, China, Germany, and Turkey. NBA Global Games will also include regular-season games to be announced at a later date.

(Boxing) Pacquiao weighs 145, Bradley 145.5 for rematch

LAS VEGAS, USA – It started out as a weigh-in and ended up as a bodybuilding exhibition.

Both Manny Pacquiao and Timothy Bradley (31-0, 12 KOs) came in under the 147 pound weight limit for their fight on Saturday, April 12 (Sunday PH time), with the WBO welterweight titleholder Bradley checking in at 145.5 and Pacquiao weighing 145.

(Boxing) Pac is Back! Manny defeats Bradley by decision

LAS VEGAS, USA - The newspapers around the world will have a three word headline for tomorrow’s papers: Pac is Back! Manny Pacquiao avenged his controversial 2012 loss to Timothy Bradley with a dominant decision victory at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas to regain the WBO welterweight title.

Two judges scored it 116-112 for Pacquiao, while the third had it wider at 118-110. There were no knockdowns but Pacquiao (54-5-2, 38 knockouts) turned the clock back with his vicious demeanor, pounding Bradley (31-1, 12 KOs) around the ring during the second half of the fight to pull away on the scorecards.

(Boxing) Pacquiao targets Mayweather in fight all fans crave

Las Vegas (AFP) - Manny Pacquiao avenged his loss to Timothy Bradley in convincing style on Saturday, and said he's ready any time to negotiate the bout with Floyd Mayweather that fight fans crave.

"The line is open 24 hours, seven days a week,” the Filipino ring icon said after his 12-round unanimous decision over the previously unbeaten Bradley.

The win rectified what most saw as a grave miscarriage in their first fight in 2012, when Bradley was awarded a split decision win and the World Boxing Organization welterweight belt.

MANILA, Philippines – Filipino legend Manny "Pacman" Pacquiao rose in the pound-for-pound lists after regaining the World Boxing Organization (WBO) welterweight title by beating American Timothy Bradley Jr. last weekend in Las Vegas.

GREENBURGH, N.Y. (AP) -- Carmelo Anthony said he wants to stay in New York, and said he wants to win.

It will be up to Phil Jackson to convince him that he can do both.

With the Knicks' season over and Anthony missing the playoffs for the first time in his career, he can begin thinking about his future. He plans to become a free agent in July and wants to be someplace where he can compete for championships.

New York (AFP) - US college freshman stars Jabari Parker and James Young said Thursday they will skip their final three seasons of collegiate play and declared themselves eligible for June's NBA Draft.

Parker, a forward, led Duke University to a 26-9 season, averaging 19.1 points, 8.7 rebounds 1.2 assists and 1.2 blocked shots a game. He became the first freshman to lead the Blue Devils in scoring and rebounds for a season.

NEW YORK - Defending champion Miami lost a couple of places in the NBA Draft selection order while Utah gained slightly better odds at the top pick after tie-breaker drawings were made Friday.

Random drawings were used to break ties between teams which finished the regular season with identical records to determine a final order for the June 26 NBA Draft and odds in the May 20 NBA Draft Lottery.
