(UFC-MMA) End of an era: Anderson Silva's career likely finished after Chris Weidman's 'Destruction'

LAS VEGAS – During his seven-year UFC career, Anderson Silva did things in the cage that few men could do, or would dare try. On Saturday, Silva once again did something rarely seen, though this time, it was a gruesome injury he suffered that likely will end his masterful career.

Silva broke his left leg while throwing a kick at middleweight champion Chris Weidman early in the second round of their rematch Saturday in the main event of UFC 168 at the sold-out MGM Grand Garden.

(UFC-MMA) UFC 168: Ronda Rousey submits Miesha Tate in third, turns heel with handshake snub

LAS VEGAS – UFC women's bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey lived up to her billing on Saturday, finishing Miesha Tate with her patented arm bar, but in the process became perhaps the most disliked fighter in the UFC.

Rousey went past the first round for the first time in eight pro fights, but she pummeled Tate throughout before getting the arm bar submission at 58 seconds of the third round in the co-main event of UFC 168 at the MGM Grand Garden.

(UFC-MMA) Travis Browne moves into title contention with a KO win over Josh Barnett at UFC 168

Travis Browne officially has a signature move. For the second time in three fights, Browne has scored a knock out with elbows to the temple of an opponent as they tried to take him down.

From the start of their heavyweight bout, Browne gave Barnett problems with his quicknesses and athleticism. The former UFC champ Barnett soon began scrambling, looking for a takedown.

On his way in for a shot, Barnett ate a knee to the face from Browne. From there, Barnett held on to Browne's legs, perhaps stunned or simply still trying in vain for the takedown, and then the Hawaiian began to rain down nasty elbows to the temple of "The Baby-Faced Assassin," knocking him unconscious.

The win is Browne's third straight KO win and will likely propel him to a title contender's match against Fabricio Werdum as heavyweight champ Cain Velasquez sits out with his shoulder injury. Barnett's loss is his first in the UFC since 2001.

LAS VEGAS – Anderson Silva remains in a Las Vegas hospital following successful surgery to repair a broken leg he suffered trying to regain the UFC’s middleweight title.

(UFC-MMA) Anderson Silva looking towards return to training

On a recent media conference call, the orthopedic surgeon who performed surgery on Anderson Silva's injured leg on Sunday said that the former UFC champion had a return to training on his mind before even undergoing surgery.

"He has spontaneously mentioned me in the pre-op area, his question was, ‘When can I train?'," the surgeon Steven Sanders said.

"And he has asked me every time, when I see him on my rounds, he asks: ‘Will I be able to train? When can I train?' And I have always indicated to him that he should be able train."
