Love, Wolves beat KG for 1st time, 111-81
AP - Sports
MINNEAPOLIS (AP) -- Kevin Garnett had stepped on the court against his former franchise seven times. He had walked away a winner each time after imposing his unyielding will on the Minnesota Timberwolves.
All the past success didn't matter one bit Friday night. Garnett and the star-studded Brooklyn Nets are finding out their reputations will get them nowhere this season.
Kevin Love had 17 points, 16 rebounds and four assists in just 28 minutes, and the Timberwolves beat Garnett for the first time since he left Minnesota in a 111-81 victory over the woeful Nets on Friday night.
Garnett finished with eight points and eight rebounds in 21 minutes and these aging, banged-up Nets were no match for the younger, faster Timberwolves. Mikhail Prokhorov's $190 million team has lost four in a row and seven of its last eight to fall to 3-9.
''We created this monster. We've got to deal with it,'' Garnett seethed. ''You're going to have the business of basketball come into play I'm sure and management is probably going to do what they've got to do, but that's out of our hands. We've got to control our own destiny, who we are as individuals and players. So like I said, for the fifth time, look at yourself and try to fix this thing.''
Nikola Pekovic had 15 points and seven boards and the Wolves blew the game open after Garnett received a technical and a flagrant foul for getting physical with Love in the paint. The testy exchange ignited a 16-0 run in the third quarter for Minnesota.
Garnett spent 12 years in Minnesota to start his career and was wounded when the Wolves traded him to Boston to start a rebuilding project in 2007. He always had his way with Love and the Wolves, and he tried to bully them again on Friday night.
Love responded in the third, swatting Garnett's hands away, and KG reacted with a forearm shiver to Love's chest. Garnett received a technical and a flagrant, and the Wolves scored six points on the possession after Kevin Martin finished it with a 3-pointer for a 65-43 lead.
''That's kind of vintage KG, just tried to get himself going, himself into the right mind frame,'' Love said. ''I just didn't really care.''
Andray Blatche had 16 points and Joe Johnson 15 for the Nets, who turned it over 20 times.
''The big thing for this group, we have to do it together,'' Kidd said, ''and we can talk about it, but the actions have to kick in at some point and we're not doing that on either end.''

TS (toni storks) view:
Finally, natapos din ang paghahasik ng lagim (hehehe) ni KG sa Minnesota.
It only proves that the old and battered Kevin Garnett is no match for the young and proud Kevin Love.

Gasol, Young propel Lakers past Warriors 102-95
AP - Sports
LOS ANGELES (AP) -- Pau Gasol and Nick Young did a remarkable job keeping the Los Angeles Lakers together without their two injured stars.
The Golden State Warriors had better take notes, because their injury problems just got worse.
Gasol had 24 points and 10 rebounds, Young scored 14 of his 21 points in the second half, and the Lakers took advantage of Stephen Curry's absence for a 102-95 victory over Golden State on Friday night.
Jordan Farmar and Steve Blake scored 14 points apiece as Los Angeles returned from four days off to win consecutive games for the first time all season.
Jordan Hill added 10 points and nine rebounds as the Lakers clicked even without Kobe Bryant and Steve Nash, hitting 11 3-pointers and outworking the prolific Warriors down the stretch. Los Angeles calmly maintained a big lead throughout the fourth quarter of its 11th straight home win over its upstate rival since March 2008.
''We're finally finding some consistency,'' Gasol said. ''We're finally putting good efforts mentally and physically together.''
Gasol had a big offensive game at an opportune time: The Spanish 7-footer pledged $1,000 for every point he scored against the Warriors to UNICEF disaster relief in the Philippines.
Gasol acknowledged thinking about his pledge with every basket, and he began the evening with another concern after hearing news of his brother Marc's sprained left knee in Memphis.
''I had too many things on my mind,'' Gasol said. ''I definitely had that motivation of scoring tonight for the Philippines. Once I started knocking down those outside shots, it opened things up for me.''
David Lee had 21 points and 13 rebounds, and Harrison Barnes scored 20 points in the Warriors' second straight loss without Curry, who missed both games with a concussion.
Golden State then lost Andre Iguodala, who replaced Curry as the Warriors' point guard. Iguodala had six points and six assists before limping to the locker room in the third quarter with a left hamstring injury.
Klay Thompson scored just two of his 19 points in the fourth quarter for Golden State, which struggled to find an offensive flow in Curry's absence. Barnes made his third start of the season in Curry's absence, with Iguodala moving over to be Golden State's offensive playmaker. Andrew Bogut added 12 points and 13 rebounds.

Ellis scores 26 and Mavericks hold off Jazz 103-93
AP - Sports
DALLAS (AP) -- Fears that the Dallas Mavericks would a suffer hangover against the Utah Jazz following an emotional victory seemed improbable - until the closing minutes.
The Mavericks cruised to a 28-point lead in the second quarter but had to fend off the determined Jazz, who pulled within five in the final minutes before falling 103-93 Friday night.
The Mavericks were coming off a 123-120 win Wednesday over the Rockets in which they rallied from an 18-point deficit in the third quarter.
Dallas (9-4) has opened its home schedule 7-0 for the first time since 2003-04, when it won its first 10 home games of the season. Utah (1-13) is winless in its first eight road games. The Jazz have lost five straight since notching their only victory of the season on Nov. 13 at home against New Orleans.
Monta Ellis scored 26 points to pace five Mavericks in double figures. Ellis added six assists, and Dirk Nowitzki and Samuel Dalembert scored 18 apiece, a season high for Dalembert, who also grabbed 12 rebounds.
Reserve forward Marvin Williams scored 19 points, 16 in the second half, to lead the Jazz. Williams returned to the lineup wearing a protective mask after missing one game for surgery on a broken nose, arriving in Dallas about four hours before tipoff.
The Jazz got 14 points reserve Jeremy Evans, his season high. Gordon Hayward, Utah's leading scorer this season averaging 18.2 points, scored 13 points after his 1-for-17 shooting night in New Orleans on Wednesday.
NOTES: When Ellis scored 37 points and Nowitzki 35 on Wednesday, it marked the first time since April 1995 that two Mavericks topped 35 points in a game. . With the 50th anniversary of the assassination of President John F. Kennedy commemorated in Dallas on Friday, Jazz players toured the Sixth Floor Museum at Dealey Plaza on Thursday.

DRose injured again
http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/nba-ball-dont-lie/derrick-rose-leaves-court-non-contact-injury-knee-054218527--nba.html
The return of Chicago Bulls star Derrick Rose from the left ACL injury that kept him out of the entire 2012-13 season has been one of the biggest NBA stories of this fall. While Rose has not looked at peak form for most of the first month of this campaign, he has appeared to be in good health with enough highlights to warrant optimism. At the very least, it's been nice to see one of the sport's most talented players back on the court.
On Friday night against the Portland Trail Blazers, however, the Bulls were faced with a sad sight at Moda Center. With 3:20 remaining in the third quarter and the score tied at 68, Rose was forced to leave the game with a non-contact injury to his right knee after turning to chase Nicholas Batum following a steal. He received immediate treatment on the bench and was eventually helped to the locker room, unable to walk under his own power...

D-Rose injures his other knee which needs surgery, and he's out indefinitely. Hopefully his injury woes will stop, or else his career might end too early, similar to Brandon Roy.
