NBA All-Star jerseys will have sleeves

NEW YORK (AP) -- The NBA All-Stars will wear jerseys with sleeves during this season's midseason celebration in New Orleans.

The NBA and athletic apparel giant Adidas revealed the All-Star game uniforms Thursday. The NBA All-Star game is scheduled for Feb. 16.

The Eastern Conference will wear blue and the West will wear red, but the jerseys will feature Mardi Gras colors - green and purple. The NBA All-Star logo appears on the chest of the jerseys in the shape of the fleur-de-lis, the official symbol of Louisiana.

Wall leads Wizards over Bulls 96-93
Associated Press

WASHINGTON -- John Wall had 23 points and 11 assists, and the Washington Wizards reached .500 for the third time this season with a 96-93 win over the Chicago Bulls on Saturday night.

The Wizards had six players score in double figures in their third straight victory, two of them coming against Chicago. Bradley Beal and Martell Webster had 14 points apiece.

There were 12 lead changes and 11 ties. Washington took a 92-91 lead on Marcin Gortat's layup with 4:28 to play.

With the Wizards ahead 96-93 with 1:06 to play, Chicago's Joakim Noah threw a pass out of bounds, and teammate Taj Gibson missed a short jumper with 30 seconds left. As the clock wound down, Jimmy Butler tried a tying 3-pointer for the Bulls and Nene blocked it with less than a second to play.

The Bulls were held to just one field goal in the final 5:16. They missed eight of their last nine shots.

Kirk Hinrich led Chicago with 18 points, and D.J. Augustin scored 16. The Bulls had won six of seven, and were trying to reach .500 for the first time since Nov. 27.

Gortat had 13 points as Washington improved to 19-19 -- the first time it's been at .500 since Dec. 30.

Chicago played for the first time since their second triple-overtime game of the season, a win in Orlando on Wednesday.

The Wizards also played on Wednesday, and scored their most satisfying win of the season, a drubbing of two-time NBA champion Miami.

Game notes

Wizards coach Randy Wittman said F Al Harrington (right knee) isn't close to returning. Harrington hasn't played since Nov. 12. .The Bulls are the eighth NBA team to play two triple overtime games in the same season. . Noah had 12 rebounds for his 11th straight game in double digits, a career best. . Chicago had won four in a row on the road.

Lowry powers Raptors past Timberwolves 94-89
Associated Press

TORONTO -- Kyle Lowry scored 24 points, Amir Johnson had 19 and the Toronto Raptors beat Minnesota 94-89 on Friday night for their 10th straight home victory over the Timberwolves.

DeMar DeRozan shook off a poor shooting performance to score 15 points and Terrence Ross had 16 as the Raptors won their sixth straight home game. It's their longest home streak since an eight-game run from Jan. 17 to Feb. 10, 2010.

Lowry made a season-high 6 3-pointers as the Raptors won for the ninth time in 11 games and posted their 18th victory in 19 meetings with Minnesota.

Kevin Love had 16 points and 12 rebounds and Kevin Martin added 18 points for the Timberwolves, who lost their third straight. Jose Barea scored 14 and Nikola Pekovic had 13.

Game notes

Minnesota's last win in Toronto was a 108-97 victory on Jan. 21, 2004. ... Raptors G John Salmons left in the second quarter with back spasms and did not return. ... Toronto F Tyler Hansbrough (left ankle) missed his seventh straight game. ... Love missed both meetings with Toronto last season due to injury, with the Wolves losing each game. ... The Raptors wore camouflage jerseys to mark Canadian Armed Forces Night. More than 400 members of Canada's military attended the game.

TS (toni storks) view:
The Raptors looks like going to the playoff in a weak East and the Wolves shall missed again the bus to the playoffs in the very tough West. It's not the line-up that is hurting the struggling Wolves (they have a very good starting five and a deeper bench compared to thier previous years) but i think it's the chemistry?

LeBron James, Heat drop 76ers to stop 3-game skid
Associated Press

PHILADELPHIA -- LeBron James had 21 points, 10 assists and eight rebounds to help the Miami Heat snap a three-game losing and beat the Philadelphia 76ers 101-86 on Friday night.

Chris Bosh scored 25 points, Norris Cole and Shane Battier had 13 points, and the Heat avoided their first four-game losing streak since March 2011. The Heat dropped games at New York, Brooklyn and Washington. They never had any trouble this time against the Sixers.

The two-time defending NBA champion Heat led by 25 and atoned for a 114-110 loss to Philadelphia in October.

Tony Wroten led the Sixers with 13 points. Spencer Hawes had 10 points and 10 rebounds. The Sixers missed 18 of 20 3-pointers

Back in October, the Sixers made their first 11 shots and raced to leads of 19-0 and 26-4, putting the champs on their heels a night after they received their rings.

"It seems 1,000 years ago," Sixers coach Brett Brown.

It was also the highlight of a season that has the Sixers tumbling toward the bottom of the Eastern Conference -- which has been the plan all along as the franchise tries to gobble lottery picks and rebuild. It's why Brown has a four-year contract and a promise of patience from ownership.

But that win against the Heat still danced in their heads until tip.

"They were able to beat an NBA champion and you can't take it away from them," Brown said.

Free throws help Bobcats beat Magic 111-101
Associated Press

ORLANDO, Fla. -- Al Jefferson had 30 points and 16 rebounds, Kemba Walker added 19 points and 10 assists and the Charlotte Bobcats beat the Orlando Magic 111-101 on Friday night.

The Magic dug out of an 18-point first-half hole and pulled to 78-76 early in the fourth quarter. However, the Bobcats shot 16 for 20 on free throws in the final period to help secure the win.

Josh McRoberts and Gerald Wallace added 17 points apiece for Charlotte.

Orlando committed 16 turnovers in the loss, and extended its season-high losing streak to 10 games.

Arron Afflalo scored 24 points in his return to the Magic lineup, and Tobias Harris and Jameer Nelson each added 18.

The Magic looked sluggish early coming off a three-hour, triple-overtime loss to Chicago on Wednesday that saw their starters play at least 43 minutes each.

Orlando connected on just 1 of their first 10 field goal attempts to begin the game, allowing the Bobcats to jump out to a 21-3 lead.

Game notes

The Bobcats snapped a three-game road losing streak. ... Orlando is now 1-22 this season when its opponent scores 100 or more points. ... The Magic honored Horace Grant between the first and second quarter as part of the team's season-long "Legends Nights" series to commemorate its 25th anniversary season. Grant played six plus years for Orlando from 1994 to 1999 and 2001 to 2003.

Blake Griffin, Clippers pull away to down Knicks
Associated Press

NEW YORK -- Blake Griffin scored 32 points, Jamal Crawford added 29, and the Los Angeles Clippers opened a seven-game road trip with their fifth straight victory, 109-95 over the New York Knicks on Friday night.

DeAndre Jordan had 11 points and 16 rebounds for the Clippers, who dominated the second half to hand the Knicks their third consecutive loss.

Carmelo Anthony had 26 points and 20 rebounds for the Knicks in a disappointing start to an eight-game homestand that matches the longest in franchise history. That doesn't guarantee any success this season, with the Knicks now 7-13 at Madison Square Garden.

Anthony shot only 4 of 23 from the field but made all 16 free throws in the first 20-20 game by a Knicks player since David Lee on April 2, 2010. J.R. Smith added 24 points off the bench.

It's the second seven-game trip of the season for the Clippers, who will fly about 11,275 miles as they give up Staples Center for the Grammy awards. They went 4-3 in December on the first one, and got this one off to a winning start while improving to 10-10 on the road this season.

Game notes

The Clippers improved to 6-1 without the injured Chris Paul this season. ... The Knicks also had an eight-game homestand in December 1986. The Dallas Mavericks are the only other team with eight straight home games this season.

Lakers survive against Celts in Rajon Rondo's return
Associated Press

BOSTON -- Rajon Rondo returned from a knee injury and missed a 3-pointer for Boston that could have sent the game into overtime, allowing the Los Angeles Lakers to beat the Celtics 107-104 on Friday night.

Pau Gasol had 24 points and 13 rebounds for Los Angeles, and Kendall Marshall finished 19 points and 14 assists. Ryan Kelly scored 20 points and Wesley Johnson added 11 points and 11 rebounds.

Marshall made a 3-pointer with 69 seconds left to give the Lakers the lead for good. Kelly added a pair of clinching free throws with 9.4 seconds remaining as the Lakers snapped a six-game losing streak.

Kelly Olynyk scored a career-high 25 points for Boston. Rondo, who was limited to 20 minutes in his first game since tearing his anterior cruciate ligament on Jan. 25, 2013, had eight points, four assists and two rebounds.

TS (toni storks) view:
A match-up of two legendary champion teams but now both struggling teams who are both in danger of missing the playoff.

And finally, nabalitang nanalo rin ang team ko (Lakers) after a long long while. ;D

Aldridge, Matthews lead Trail Blazers past Spurs
Associated Press

SAN ANTONIO -- LaMarcus Aldridge had 26 points and 13 rebounds, Wesley Matthews scored 24 points, and the Portland Trail Blazers held off San Antonio's furious rally to beat the Spurs 109-100 on Friday night.

Damian Lillard had 21 points and eight assists and Mo Williams added 13 points as Portland snapped San Antonio's six-game winning streak. Matthews shot 6 for 7 on 3-pointers.

Manu Ginobili had a season-high 29 points, and Boris Diaw and Marco Belinelli added 14 points each for the Spurs. Tim Duncan had 13 points and Tony Parker added 12, but the two combined for just eight points in the second half of a physical and testy matchup between teams vying for the best record in the Western Conference.

Portland was controlling the contest when San Antonio coach Gregg Popovich was ejected with 7:18 left in the third quarter after drawing two technical fouls during a Spurs timeout.

TS (toni storks) view:
What a win on the road by the Blazers at the expense of the very superb Spurs team (eventhough I really hate this team).

Sayang ang outstanding game ng future hall of famer na si Ginobili though.
