x =-21 or 13

yup tama ka boss.... in some cases lang kasi na need mo isolve yan using calculator for efficiency

0 = x² + 8x - 273

2nd step: expand the equation
0 = (x+21)(x-13)

3rd step: substitute x with its given value 13
0 = (13+21)(13-13)

4th step: compute
0 = (46)(0) **forty six times zero**

correct... however, the better term, i think, for step 2 is "to factor out" -273. find two numbers that, when multiplied, gives -273, and when added gives +8.  This will give you (x+21) and (x-13).

Then you'll have
x+21 = 0, and
x-13 = 0

With this, the values of X are -21 and 13, since you will transmute 21 and -13 to the other side of the equation.
X = -21, and
X = 13

Substitute each value, will give you the same answer. Therefore, X is not just 13, but also -21.
