I don't expect you to remember everything you read in here but you will be able to leave with a general outline on what to eat and what not to eat for increasing memory power. Water:
You must be thinking here is another guy who is drumming about water. Yes, I am and you should probably pay attention at least this time. Drink enough water. I am not going to give a prescribed amount of water you should be drinking because it is easy to know when to drink water. Every time you urinate a simple observation will tell you whether the water levels are adequate if not you should go and drink some water.
Fruits:
It is very easy to remember the kind of fruits which help in improving memory. All the fruits which are dark red, blue and green help in improving memory. Apples contain high levels of quercetin an antoxidant which is known to prevent Alzheimer's. Blueberries contain anthocyanin, a phytochemical which contributes to healthy brain function. All kinds of grapes, red black and purple, contain Quercetin and Anthocyanin. Cherries are a good source of anthocyanin.
Vegetables:
Red onions which contain anthocyanin and quercetin are known to boost memory. Yellow and white onions also contain decent levels of quercetin. Broccoli contains quercetin and folic acid. Beets are a good source of anthocyanin and folic acid. Leaf vegetables such as spinach, asparagus are a good source of Vitamin K which plays a role in improving brain power. Spinach is also rich in folic acid.
Non-vegetarian food:
Fish tops the list of food for memory improvement in this category. To be more specific fatty fish like sardines, salmon, herring and mackerel which contain generous amounts of omega-3 fats are very useful for memory. Eggs contain vitamins A, B, B12 and D which contribute to the memory center of the brain. Eggs also prevent brain illnesses such as Alzheimer's disease.Lean red meat contains vitamins and minerals which help in the repair of cell damage and also curb memory loss. It contains iron, zinc and Vitamin B12.
Herbs:
The Queen of herbs useful for memory is Rosemary. It is rich in a anti-oxidant called carnosic acid which dilates the cerebral vascular tissues. It is known that even the smell of Rosemary can help in improving memory. There are other herbs namely ginko, ginseng, and gotu kola which are useful for memory. No one really knows how they work!
