Bone health becomes increasing important as we age. Bone disease may be manageable through taking prescription medications. However, it is possible to avoid the disease if the correct actions are taken in advance. A few simple changes will go a long way in maintaining excellent bone heath.

Having enough calcium and vitamin D in your diet is important. Calcium can easily be derived from consuming dairy products. Those who are concerned about the fat content in dairy products may simply opt for lower fat or non-fat varieties. Vitamin D supplements may be taken, but sun exposure will also create the vitamin within the body naturally.

Exercise provides bone health benefits as well. The current recommendation for all adults is at least 30 minutes of exercise daily. Children will need double this amount. Walking is an excellent exercise, but some type of weight bearing exercise should also be included in order to strengthen muscles and bones. Both exercise and proper diet can be used to maintain a healthy weight, which is also important to bones.

Speak to your doctor if you suffer from conditions such as arthritis or hyperthyroidism. Either of these can negatively impact the bones. There are also certain medications that may place the bones at risk. Many doctors will recommend vitamin D or calcium supplements when patients are at an increased risk of bone disease.

A final consideration would be to limit the risk of accidental falls. Protecting the bones from being broken is of great importance. Check your home for potential hazards and consider wearing any required glasses or contacts when walking about. Once a bone has been broken healing can take quite some time. Eliminating as many risks as possible may allow you to not have to experience the pain of a broken bone.

nice article sir, this is very important kasi as we grow older marami tayong mararamdamang sakit lalo na sa buto... that's why constant exercise at regular check-up is good for us.

My grandma has really strong bones. She attributes this to drinking milk every single day since she was a kid.
