Two famous Japanese models from the magazine Seventeen, Nakajou Ayami and Morikawa Aoi, have been announced to star in a Fatal Frame movie, and I personally can’t wait to watch them get the bejeezus scared out of ‘em.
Fatal Frame, or “Zero (零)” as it is known in Japan, is a highly successful survival-horror series from Tecmo Koei. The series features female protagonists navigating creepy Japanese villages and mansions, haunted by g-g-ghosts! What sets this game apart from other survival-horror games is that instead of running from the ghosts, you have to face your fears head on by taking pictures of them with the “Camera Obscura”, a camera with the power to banish the ghosts you take pictures of. The most powerful way to banish a ghost is to take a picture of it right before it tries to kill you, hence the name of the series, Fatal Frame.

Although no word has been given on which game the movie will be based on, I am willing to bet that it will be Fatal Frame 2: Crimson Butterfly. My educated guess stems from the fact that they announced two main cast members at once, and Fatal Frame 2 stars a pair of twins. Also, Fatal Frame 2 is easily the most recognizable and famous entry in the series, so it makes sense the film might be based on it.
Horror movie fans won’t have too long to wait as the movie will be out in this fall, and I can only imagine what horrors await those who try to illegally record the movie with their camcorders.
