Yes John Grisham ayos yan. Try also his book " The Pelican Brief" tinapos ko sa isang upuan.

Dan Brown? Hmm. Good story teller pero kinda overrated.

Mario Puzo and his master piece The Godfather is very good too.

Then the classics of course, like The lord of the flies etc.

1984 and the animal farm deserves a special mention.

Ito mga highly recommended na mga nabasa ko na:

-Angels and Demons at The Da Vinci Code both by Dan Brown

On Sales:
Closing the Sale by Zig Ziglar

Biographies:
-Jack: Straight from the Gut by Jack Welch (former CEO of GE)

Self Help, Business, Motivational:
-Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill
-The Secret by Rhonda Byrnes
-Your Roadmap to Success and The Winning Attitude both by John Maxwell
-Think and Grow Rich, Cashflow Quadrant, Retire Young Retire Rich all by Robert Kiyosaki

For humor, all book ni Bob Ong.

Surprised na walang nagrecommend ng World War Z and the Zombie Survival Guide by Max Brooks.

Also, read the Game of Thrones Volumes by George R. R. Martin - they are really good!

I said ikr on the part where you said that its not a requirement to be a Muslim to own a Quran. I was trying to be sarcastic because I already know that and was simply asking due to my fascination to the possibility of you being interested in that despite the fact that you are non-Muslim. I was actually impressed because I know for a fact that you could learn a lot of things from reading it.

Simple lang naman kasi tanong ko and you could have simply said yes or no if you are Muslim or not and wala nang ek ek na "it doesn't required to be a Muslim  to own one " which to me sounded sarcastic at isa pa ay wrong gramming naman.

Sorry for the slight bashing Rai and sorry to the others for the off topic.

Don't worry Rai I'll do my best to stray away from having future direct conversations with you.

Peace out.

I noticed this thread is very interesting for those book lovers out there...

Sana post den tayo ng mga personal reviews natin about all the books na nababasa natin...

I just finished , Henry Bernstein's ~ The Invisible Wall~

Story about a Jewish family , particular of that  boy ( the author himself) who witnessed the dire realities of being poor and the prejudice that divide the Christian and Jewish soceity in a small suburban village in England.

A very nice novel that depicts the early life of children , born in the streets of poverty, with a drunken father, their everyday struggle to survive the anti Semitic prejudices not only in school but everywhere ... Story of forbidden love between a Jewish girl and a Christian boy... And that heartbreaking sacrifices of a Mother ... To keep her family's survival , from the cruel neglect of her husband and from the cold prejudice of the people that surrounds them all.

Sounds interesting, kinda sad though but good review.

Mine naman is The Alchemist, I think I have mentioned this before.

It's been a year or two since I finished the book, yet the story still resonates with me till now.

It's a story about a young shepherd in Spain, that because he was infatuated with a young noble woman he met he decided to try his fortune and to better himself. His adventures took him to Africa and the Middle East, meeting various characters, some shady and some wise and arcane. I can't say more in the hopes that I do not spoil the story.

Guys like me would appreciate it I think. The belief that somehow destiny does happen and that life works out if you keep at it. It's a good short book, even better on audio while walking around. The book  is narrated by a well known actor, Jeremy Irons. The voice acting was fantastic, the diction is very clear and easy on the ears.

The book can be serious at times and yet still lighthearted and charming for the most part.

Another good read from Isabel Allende, Daughter of Fortune. A story of an orphaned Chilean girl left at the doorsteps of a wealthy family , the prominent Sommers .. Of British origin who settled in the colony of Valparaiso. Eliza grew up under the rigid guidance of  Capt. Sommers, Miss Rose... The young Eliza fell in love with a young and too inappropriate Joaquin who was foolishly victimized by the feverish dream of gold during the gold  hunt expedition in the late 1800's... Thus began the lonely and heartbreaking journey of Eliza Sommers to find her one true love... But her Fate's  destiny twisted into something that she never expected even in her wildest dreams.

A great story of finding love, it's struggles , survival and the extra ordinary courage of a young woman to reinvent herself amidst the racial discrimination and other social difficulties during the bleak early years of the 19th century California.

i agree -- john grisham's and dan brown's books are good reading items -- almost lahat ng book ni john grisham are best sellers and wala ka itatapon, but i have to say, it is still "A Time To Kill" na pinakamalupit niya naisulat!!

for dan brown naman, magaganda din mga kwento niya -- the best for me yung "digital fortress" and yung "inferno", maski controversial un mga books niya, very entertaining pa din basahin =)

chief medical examiner sya, in other words it's a book about a typical day at work sa loob ng autopsy room. naka-duty din sya nung 9-11 sa new york nung maraming namatay. non-fiction. matibay ba sikmura nyo? it's a very interesting read hehe.

Rick Bragg, ~REDBIRDS~

'Leaving on the road my friend
Was gonna keep you free and clean
Now you wear your skin like iron
And your breath as hard as kerosene
You were'nt your Momma's only boy
But her favorite one, it seems
She began to cry when you said goodbye
Saddled to your dreams.'

A heartbreaking and inspiring story of the Author's rise from the bleakest kind of poverty to being one of the most regarded journalist of his day...

A sentimental evidence of life's nostalgic phases , hard edges and bitter realities.

Read this book a couple of times already... One of my favorites!

A story about death and loss...as narrated by Death itself, somewhat intrigued by the sweet enchanting innocence of Liezl...her will to survive, her strong desire to learn...and her compassion that compelled Death to be fond of her life until the very end.
