Post by: fayt on July 24, 2015, 09:28:27 AM
Hello repapipz

Lay down your network- malaki tulong ng mga kaibigan.

Find an outlet to relax - sobra stressful ang law, kaya dapat may outlet ka, or else mabilis ka mabburnout

Best of luck sayo kng tumuloy ka. :)

 8) kahit plano pa lang yan sir sa iyong part already deserves some congratulations... one must not be contented to what he has already achieved.. kaya hats off syo sir....

OT: My late dad is one perfect example of your status... he started as a BSE Major in English, married my mom and started a family.. he teached in a high school dept. while taking up law classes at night.. he passed the Bar Exams on his first attempt... he has lots of experiences joining a Law Associates and eventually put up his own law firm... during those times while being a lawyer, he was teaching Law subjects in the evening classes and eventually became one of the BAR reviewers...

in one of our candid moments, he talked about his experiences as a law student as well as being a college professor... living on a meager income he said must not hinder one's dream as long as you are properly equipped to achieve your goal... practice writing and speaking english at all times... mastering the english grammar is first and foremost your basic tool... there was a student of his whom he politely stopped and made to sit down while on graded recitation because of his 'carabao' english, he gave that whole  class some tips on how to become a good law student... good posture and clean living is another tip i gathered from him... good hygiene is tops... and of course, shaved moustache and beard... it's all about discipline he says... never stop reading law books, you have to be an avid reader, and 'syempre' try to keep abreast of today's current events... there is this magazines he mentioned to us before, he said try to peruse the TIME, NEWSWEEK and Reader's Digests, learn something on the way they use the english grammars there... the compositions...

and with those, i hope i have imparted a little... pursue your dreams TS and it shall reward you at the end...

Take note ko lahat to.

Here are my tips.

1. Read the full text of the cases you will be assigned. Trust me, on the bar, that's what you'll remember, not the condensed version. So, assign a lot of time, learn to quickly read whatever you're assigned while keeping in mind the reason for the decision.

2. Its great if you can memorize, but, its not a requirement. Its better to understand the law instead of just repeating it word for word without comprehending it.

3. Eyes on the goal, which is passing the bar exam. You'll sacrifice a lot for it.

4. Learn to speak well, but write better.

5. Have a support group. Friends, girlfriend(s), family, etc. You'll need a way to de-stress.

Good luck future counsel.

PS. Signing the roll of attorneys is worth it.

Some tips on enrolling at a Law School:

1. Choose a law school and Pass the entrance exam;
2. No short cuts, read, read and read law books pa more;
3. Put a goal that no matter what, bumagsak ka man sa isa o higit pa na subjects o kahit ma kick out ka pa due to failure to meet the required average eh tuloy ka pa din sa pag enroll sa law school, pwede ka naman mag transfer kung sakaling ma kick out;
4. Learn to Pray;
5. Sacrifice (time, resources)

Tsk. Ako nagbabalak bumalik sa law. Sinubukan kong pumasok habang may trabaho, kaso.. di kinaya. Got kicked out due to low grades. I got the aptitude, but I didn't have the attitude. Not yet. Dun ko na-realize na there's no real shortcuts in law school but to be diligent and be prepared with the assigned cases.

 :book1:
Tips? Eto nakuha ko:

 :book1:

2. Pasado na sa exam? Congrats! Welcome to hell! Pero.. As much as possible, try to read the whole case assigned to you, not just the digest.

 :book1:

3. Shore up your English and Public Speaking skills. Not Philo, not PolSci, not Econ, not Legal Management. Nakaka-panic. So now I've been practicing in speaking in English with my misis. Nakaka-conscious, pero kelangan talaga e.

 :book1:

4. Join a study group and be nice to your groupmates. I know study groups are not for everyone.. may mga kaklase ako dati na mas magaling pag sila-sila lang ang nag-aaral, but don't underestimate the study groups.

 :book1:

5. Matutong mag-sakripisyo. Sa law school maraming marami kang babasahin. AS IN SOBRANG DAMI. Tipong isang araw you'll have to read an average of 500 pages worth of cases. Basta, if you're all into instant gratification, you will never survive law school. Kelangan mong matutong mag-sakripisyo.

 :book1:

6. Study hard, but be smart in studying. Also, don't forget your sleep.

 >:( >:( >:(

Yun lang naman. I hope magtagumpay tayo pareho sa law school.

1. Be fluent in English. There's no going around it, ito ang medium ng usapan and career mo. This is not only reading/vocabulary, pero pronunciation and charisma din.

2. READ READ READ! Walang shortcuts. Whether may background sa pre-law or not, same playing field lang kayo pag-pasok sa law school. The questions and analysis na hinihingi nila ay nakukuha lang sa matinding pag-aaral.

3. Use sources! Refer to the SCRAs for annotated reviews on their decisions and the legal questions being addressed. Useful siya in building defenses and how you reason in class/court. You could also use annotated Civil Code and other books by authors such as Paras and Bernas for their insight on each provision and mga related cases.

4. Have a support group. Sobrang stressful and you need a circle to lean back on. These are your family and friends. They also have to understand (especially kung may bf/gf) that you won't have time for them the next few years because of the discipline you need to exert in your studies, and kung tunay na mahal ka nila, they'll be loyal and supportive from the sidelines.

Some Important Things to remember

1. Prepare for the so called "Socratic Method" eto yung walang lecture, puro recitations lang kaya prepare your materials as always.

3. Remember na it's a jungle game without rules sa law school, and daming possibilities na di mo magegets bakit ka bumagsak or kung swerte ka eh bakit ka nakalusot? what's important is you know that all possible preparations were made.

4. In the end walang kapalit yung feeling ng seeing yourself on the passing list. That was the time that all sacrifices would be worth it :-)

sabi  nga nila...

1) good english
2) good handwriting
3) good memory

pero some professors prefer the "logical" type of student rather than the "kabisote" ones...yung tipong tatanungin ka ng hyphothetical questions in relation dun sa topic nyo...
