Created an official thread for NBA 2014 playoffs. Let's talk, discuss & rant.
First game results:
Hawks vs Pacers
101 - 93
Pacers still struggling. Di pa nila feel yung playoff atmosphere. Puro isolation plays.
----
Warriors vs Clippers
109 - 105
Lucky breaks for the Warriors. Babawian yan ni CP03 sa next game.
----
Nets vs Raptors
94 - 87
Veteran team vs Young guns, but I like how the fans of Raptors went all out to support their team on their first game.
----
Grizzlies vs Thunder
86 - 100
Durant dominated 'nuff said
-
-

What's wrong with the Pacers? But eventually, their manpower, bench edge against the 38-44 Hawks will prevail. 4-2 sa Pacers
Even without Bogut, this Warriors team played like. . . well, like their namesake, Warrior. The edge in athletism and bench for the Clippers will be wipe-out by the blue-collar work ethics of this Mark Jackson mentored team. I'll go for Golden State, 4-2.
Brooklyn is only the #6 seed but with their experience and championship savvy (Pierce, Garnett & the Jet) will play a big difference against the young & up-coming Raptors side. Brooklyn in 5 games.
Individually, no one can stop KD one-on-one and with a stronger supporting cast (thanks to the addition of Caron Butler), it's about time the Thunder will march again to West Final. OKC, 4-1.

Bohi's comment: Their slide started after Granger was traded. Hmmmm.... Plus they're playing like it was an "inter-tsinelas" game. Hibbert shooting three? In a playoff game? Dayum.

PACERS’ FUNK DEEPENS IN GAME 1 LOSS
They got beat on it. They got booed on it. And at this point, they probably don’t even feel worthy of it.
That home court at Bankers Life Fieldhouse that mattered so much to the Indiana Pacers that they staked their season on it – maybe even strained their season going after it – is gone. Gone, like those sad, bewildered fans leaving early Saturday into the Indianapolis night, their body language trudging up the stairs looking as defeated as the team on the floor.
So gone, that when the players and coaches show up tomorrow or the day after in search of answers in practice, they might find the locks have been changed.
The Pacers’ goal since the first day of training camp: Capture the No. 1 seed in the Eastern Conference so that, should they face the NBA’s two-time defending champions in a Game 7 with a trip to The Finals on the line, they would have it in their building, on their floor, in their comfort zone (35-6 there this season). Yet after their 101-93 loss to Atlanta, just about everything about that previous sentence – the quest and its context – is wrong.
This was Game 1. Of the first round. Against an opponent that won only 38 times in the regular season. And now the undermanned Hawks have seen to it that no one – not them, not any other postseason foe the Pacers may never actually see – has to win another game this spring at the BLFH. Three Atlanta victories at Philips Arena in the next five games and Indiana won’t make it to a Game 7, never mind the Game 7.
“It’s frustrating,” Pacers forward Paul George said in the interview room afterward. “But it’s one game. It’s a long series. That’s how we’ve got to a look at it. Take it game by game. Just got to prepare for the next one.”
Sorry, there is no “just” about this. And if the Pacers are as calm and focused on a few basketball Xs & Os as George and coach Frank Vogel made it seem in their postgame pressers, they’re going to find themselves in a most uncomfortable zone, their offseasons begun prematurely, wondering for an extra five or six weeks what went so wrong.
This has gone on too long, too unchecked to be fixed in a film session or in a walk-through. Whether the Pacers’ deepening funk started around the All-Star break (they’re an ordinary 16-15 since, counting Saturday) or a little later (12-14 since March 1), their denial of how bad it was getting – and the absence of any appropriately desperate measures to fix it – has left them no wiggle room whatsoever.
Years from now, NBA coaches could be using these 2014 Pacers to illustrate the age-old point that you can’t just flick a switch when the playoffs start: Either you go in with momentum or you go home sooner than expected.
Several key Pacers reportedly huddled up in the locker room after this one, but that’s stale at this point, too much been-there, done-that. What they needed – now, sure, but probably a month ago – was something far more drastic.
Here’s how Rick Fox, a member of the Lakers’ three-peat teams from 2000-2002, put it on NBA TV:
“A little panic would look good on this team. I’m done listening to them try to convince us everything’s OK. That it’s just one game. They’ve been saying it’s one game for the last 30 games.
“There needs to be some panic here. That would create some urgency. Then they could actually accept what they’ve been doing. So they can wash it down and start to move toward something they once were. … They’re playing as if nothing is really seriously wrong.”
There were some seams showing after this latest, most glaring embarrassment. Roy Hibbert, Indiana’s 7-foot-2 rim protector who had his own shots blocked twice by 6-foot-7 Kyle Korver, sounded a little petulant when wondering if maybe he is the problem against Atlanta’s “stretch 5″ offense, with center Pero Antic pulled out to 3-point range and the floor spread for shifty point guard Jeff Teague.
Curiously, George talked about a stretch in the third quarter when he left the floor for quickie treatment on a bruised thigh. Indiana had closed to 60-58 when he subbed out, and by the time George came back from the trainers room, it was 71-58, headed eventually to 20-point ugliness.
“I checked out,” George said, when asked about the Hawks’ 30-16 edge in that quarter. “I don’t know what happened.”
So much for looking “into their souls,” as analyst Hubie Brown said from his courtside post in Oklahoma City, where the Thunder were flexing a more lively homecourt advantage over Memphis.
As disappointed as Indiana fans are with the Pacers, as much grief as that team is getting from critics both locally and nationally, the ones who really ought to be ticked at them are the Hawks. As well as Atlanta played – solid work on the boards, far more hustle for loose balls, more aggression overall – this game wound up being defined by Indiana’s failures, not their success.
And then George patronized them a little when he said, “They played as good as they can play.”
The question of the moment is, how would George know that about any team? Certainly not from looking around his own dressing room.

The Heat won in Game 1 against the Bobcats, as usual and expected na yan hehehe... Sayang yung Bulls natalo pa. Sa crunch time sila nadale.
-
talo dallas huhu, di bale sana makabawe, dallas in 7 haha
-
>Ganda ng laban ng Mavs vs Spurs. Ageless performance by Tim Duncan and Coach Tony Parker haha.
>Sort of disappointed for the Bulls, mukhang may game 1 jitters pa, wala yung intensity nila in the 4th quarter. It's a good match up din, Nene vs Noah.
>I hope the bobcats will at least win 1 or 2 games against Miami.
>Blazers vs Rockets - Best series of the first round i.m.o.
-
Yung GS vs. LAC mukhang mahabang series. SA vs. Dallas magandang series as well as Chicago vs. Washington.

Joakim Noah is NBA DPOY
DEERFIELD, Ill. -- Chicago Bulls center Joakim Noah has been named the NBA's Defensive Player of the Year.
"This is very humbling to be in this situation right now," Noah said at a news conference.
Noah also took time to thank coach Tom Thibodeau conceding, "Without your system, this wouldn't be possible."
Noah dedicated his award to his beloved mentor, Tyrone Green, who passed away last week.
"This award goes to somebody who I'll never forget," Noah said. "Somebody who just passed and meant so much to me, who believed in me. Mr. Green, I love you and I appreciate you and I know you're smiling down right now really proud. This award goes to you."
Noah is in the midst of the best season of his professional career, averaging 12.6 points, 11.3 rebounds and 5.4 assists per game during the regular season.
Aside from serving as the defensive anchor for Thibodeau's system, Noah has also become an even bigger leader on and off the floor for his teammates after the loss of Derrick Rose (knee surgery) and the trade of Luol Deng to Cleveland.
"Each year I think he's gotten better and better," Thibodeau said. "And I think that's a testament to his will and determination. And he's improved in many different areas -- everyone talks about the passing and his defense but offensively his scoring, his leadership, his professionalism (have grown)."
Noah picked up 100 first-place votes and earned 555 of a possible 1,125 points; each first-place vote is worth five points, a second-place vote is worth three points and a third-place vote is worth one point.
Indiana's Roy Hibbert (166 points, eight first-place votes) and the Los Angeles Clippers' DeAndre Jordan (121 points, eight first-place votes) finished second and third, respectively.
Noah becomes the first Bull since Michael Jordan to win the prestigious award. Jordan won the award in 1988. The emotional center also has a strong chance to make the All-NBA first team. Noah made sure to acknowledge several teammates by name -- making sure they receive recognition as well.
"This award is not about me," Noah said. "Even though I get to go home with that weird looking dude ... it's not even a great defensive stance. But this is about our team."
Noah's award isn't the last time the Bulls have a chance to earn some individual honors -- teammate Taj Gibson is considered a strong candidate for Sixth Man of the Year, while Thibodeau figures to be in the running for Coach of the Year.

Go Memphis!
Betweek OKC and Memphis, I am rooting for Memphis. Masyadong mayabang si Westbrook.
-
-
Gusto ko yung mala Dallas vs Dubs upset during the 06-07.
-
Well Heat fan pa din ako at medyo natatakot ako sa 2nd round match-up nila pag pumasok sila. 0-4 kasi sila sa brooklyn this season. Though close games naman.
-
mukhang di makakarating sa eastern conference finals ang pacers dis yir a.
taob pa rin ang laro nila overall. halos wala silang chemistry as a team ngayon. lately may nagsapakan pa daw sa kanila during team practice. 'nubayan.

Holy Mavs! Holy Blazers!
Wild Western Conference!!! Walang kwenta yung seeding nila kasi lahat malalakas. Malaking adjustment gagawin ng Spurs nyan.
Jinx talaga yung mga Awards na yan before the game, yesterday binigay prior to the game yung DPOY award kay Noah tapos natalo Bulls. Tapos ngayon binigay yung CoY kay Coach Popovich, natalo Spurs.

Maturity as a team yung kulang sa Pacers, tapos sama mo na yung EGO nila. They have the best and complete roster among the other teams. Matuto sana sila sa system ng Spurs at Bulls (during MVP year ni D.Rose) wala kang maririnig na locker room problems.

Olat na naman ang Pacers
Notebook: Hawks 98, Pacers 85
Matt Winkeljohn, for NBA.com
Posted Fri Apr 25, 2014 12:05 AM - Updated Fri Apr 25, 2014 12:38 AM
THE FACT: The Atlanta Hawks went off on the NBA's top-rated defensive team in the second half, hitting 10 3-pointers and scoring 59 points, and now hold a surprising 2-1 series lead over the No. 1 seeded Indiana Pacers.
THE LEAD: Jeff Teague scored 15 of his game-high 22 points in the second half as the eighth-seeded Hawks knocked off the visiting Pacers 98-85 Thursday night at Philips Arena in Game 3 of their first-round series.
Neither team looked ready to win in an ugly first half, when the Hawks led 39-38 despite shooting just 2-for-16 on 3-pointers, but Teague cranked it up after intermission as Atlanta went 10-for-18 from beyhond the arc.
Lance Stephenson (21 points, 13 rebounds) and Paul George (12 and 14) put up double-doubles for the Pacers, but George -- who averaged 25.5 points in the first two games -- went scoreless in a first half when he played just 12:17 because of foul trouble.
While the Hawks' offense rolled late, the Pacers were frustrated all night long by the Atlanta D, shooting just 32-for-85 for 37.6 percent. David West (16 points, seven rebounds, five assists) had his best game of the series and Luis Scola scored 17 after pouring in 20 in Game 2, but 7-foot-2 Roy Hibbert continued to struggle monstrously, scoring a mere four points with two rebounds.
Indiana's modest edge of 38-26 on points in the paint wasn't enough to offset Atlanta's ability to play its offensive game nearly unfettered after intermission.
In the second half, Kyle Korver (20 points) made three treys, DeMarre Carroll (18) and sub Lou Williams (11 points) hit two each, and Paul Millsap (14 points, 14 rebounds), Teague (career postseason-high 10 assists) and sub Shelvin Mack added one each.
Add the fact that after intermission the Hawks were 17-for-23 from the free-throw line on the night when they were 30-for-37 overall, and the Pacers were doomed.
QUOTABLE: "The defensive effort and the defensive activity is the message we've been talking about. For our group to be that committed ... is a credit to our group. ... Our group is confident when it comes to shooting. ... They know we believe in [the 3-point shot] and they know it's part of how we want to play."
-- Hawks coach Mike Budenholzer
THE STAT: The Hawks scored 21 more points than the Pacers on 3-point shots, and 14 more from the free-throw line to more than nullify Indiana's 51-41 rebounding edge.
TURNING POINT: OK, so it wasn't a turning point (there really wasn't one), but the most controversial moment came when Teague nailed an off-balance, shot clock-beating 3-pointer with 2:49 left to push Atlanta's lead to 87-78.
Officials reviewed the play to make sure he beat the shot clock. He did, and even though replay showed Teague stepped out of bounds prior to taking the shot the points stayed on the scoreboard.
Replay rules do not allow officials to overturn a play based on a player having stepped out of bounds if he happens to re-set his feet inbounds before or while taking the shot. Indiana appeared to lose faith once and for all there, and the Hawks closed the game with a 14-6 run.
QUOTABLE II: "We'll look at everything, but I can't say that right now. I've got confidence in Roy Hibbert. He has not played well."
-- Pacers coach Frank Vogel when asked if Hibbert will remain in the starting lineup
HOT: The Hawks made 6-of-12 3-pointers in the third quarter, while outscoring Indiana 28-20 to take control of the game. Carroll and Williams made two each in the period. ... Stephenson scored 12 points in the fourth quarter on 4-for-5 shooting, but also missed half his six free throws. ... Scola also scored 12 in the final period, on 5-for-7 shooting. ... Teague is averaging a series-high 21.3 points against the Pacers. ... Millsap is averaging 19.3 points and 8.7 rebounds (while making five of 12 3-pointers). ... The Hawks are averaging 11 made treys per game in the series.
NOT: Hibbert shot 2-for-9 one game after going 1-for-7. He dropped a ball in the paint where he appeared set up for an uncontested dunk, and missed a point-blank shot in the third. He played just 6:30 in the second half, going scoreless on three shots. ... The Pacers shot just 1-for-7 on 3-pointers in the final quarter. ... George missed all four of his shots in the fourth quarter, and was 3-for-11 overall. ... Hawks center Pero Antic played just 23:07, and after missing all five of his shots he is just 5-for-21 in the series, and 3-for-14 from distance. He's averaging 4.3 rebounds.
GOOD MOVE: Budenholzer's decision to play Millsap and Elton Brand big combined minutes at the center spot, often with reserve Mike Scott at forward, is creating more matchup nightmares for Indiana than when Antic is in the pivot, even though Antic is normally one of the top 3-point shooting centers in the NBA.
QUOTABLE III: "We have a few guys who wear their emotions on their sleeves ... guys who are their own biggest critics. When guys aren't playing well and shots aren't going in, they show it. We've tried to work on that and keep guys confident. ... We're not going to panic. We came down here to get one game."
-- David West when asked whether the Pacers have enough confidence to win the series
NOTABLE: Carroll most often had the assignment of defending George, who left the game with just 3:36 elapsed after picking up his second foul. ... George's scoring average slipped to 21.0 per game, but he's averaging a series-high 11.3 rebounds and has a series-high eight steals. He has had a double-double in every playoff game. ... Hibbert doesn't have a blocked shot in the series. ... West is averaging just 4.0 rebounds, and has attempted (and made) just two free throws in three games. ... The Hawks' 59 second-half points were their most in a playoff game since scoring 65 against Detroit on May 2, 1991. ... Atlanta's 12 made treys tied a franchise postseason record. ... Carroll's 18 points were a career postseason high.
IN THE CROWD: Rapper 2Chainz and civil rights leader Jesse Jackson were at Philips Arena, which was sold out and by far louder than all season.
QUOTABLE IV: "That was the best Hawks crowd I've ever been a part of. ... That was really awesome tonight. We really felt the energy."
-- Kyle Korver

Do I smell upsets?
Pacers, Chicago, Thunder have bleak outlooks.
But they can still bounce back...
-
Pacer and Chicago for me are understandable. After the all-star break indiana seem to spiral downwards. Chicago don't have the offensive scoring like last year with Nate Robinson.
In okc's case, Durant and Westbrook, for me, seems to play hero ball in last minutes of the 4th quarter. Coupled with the defense of tony Allen and the 2 Bruising grizzlies of gasol and Randolph its difficult to stop.

-
Exciting yung Western conference, lahat contender, dominating so far si Griffin and Aldridge.
Pacers & Bulls. Sila lang yung may chance so far i.m.o. to challenge the Heat. Di ko inaasahan Nets vs Heat kahit natalo nila during the Season. Old legs e. Iba ang Heat pag playoffs.
:(
-
Bulls has a great defensive play but they lack in offense. They could start a lead but end up losing. They maximize everything on the first half but on late game they lose the track. Crunch time is their worst nightmare. They badly need Rose on the lineup.

Upset in the making:
Washington (#5) vs. Chicago (#4), wala talagang go-to-guy sa offense ang Bulls
Portland (#5) vs. Houston (#4), talagang 'houston, we've got a problem here'. . hehehe
. . sana, sana po. ;D
-
I'm glad the Bulls made it for Game 3 but still they struggle. I doubt them for Game 4 unless they keep their pace and aim for a tied series. Brooklyn also made it. I may frankly say for Portland and Houston, Portland may sweep the Houston out of the series. I'm disappointed with their game plan. On the other hand, Aldridge is a monster, what if Lillard and Batum comes out with their game time. They also got Wesley Matthews as backup.

houston won game 3 121-116 on OT, salamat dun sa 3 pointer nung daniels. still i think the blazers will the series. nakahabol pa ang blazers after trailing by 11 points sa fourth quarter.

37-year old Vinsanity!!!!
Corner big shot at the buzzer buries San Antonio. Mavs now up 2-1 over the top seed.
Half-man. Half-Amazing!

Muntikan na ang Houston. Well I'm glad they won that one. Pacers on the other hand tied the series with the Hawks. Talo Spurs. Mukhang madadagdagan ang mga upset pag Dallas ang pumasok sa 2nd round lol good to see rin the underdogs defeat the top seeded teams.

James, Heat top Bobcats 98-85 for 3-0 series lead
(http://l3.yimg.com/bt/api/res/1.2/pIB.IWj.067oTyr59LO3YQ--/YXBwaWQ9eW5ld3M7Zmk9ZmlsbDtoPTE2MzA7cHlvZmY9MDtxPTc1O3c9OTYw/http://media.zenfs.com/en_us/News/ap_webfeeds/0f2ed65979d28010520f6a706700c87c.jpg)
CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) — LeBron James had 30 points and 10 rebounds, and the Miami Heat defeated the Charlotte Bobcats 98-85 Saturday night to take a 3-0 lead in the Eastern Conference first round series.
Dwyane Wade added 17 points for the Heat, who can close out the best-of-seven Monday night.
James, who was an efficient 10 of 18 from the field, pushed his record to 18-0 against the Bobcats since joining the Heat in 2010. Miami has won 19 straight overall against Charlotte.
Al Jefferson had 20 points for the Bobcats, who are still searching for the first postseason win in franchise history.
After trailing most of the first half, the Heat took a 42-40 lead on a 3-pointer by Mario Chalmers. Miami closed the half on a 16-4 run.
Norris Cole hit a 5-foot bank shot and then buried a 3-pointer from the left wing to put the Heat up by five and Miami was off to the races.
The half, which had started with so much energy and promise for the Bobcats, ended with a colossal mistake by guard Gerald Henderson. With the clock winding down, he turned the ball over in the backcourt with 2 seconds left and then fouled James while the Miami forward was attempting a 3-pointer. James made the Bobcats pay by sinking three free throws with 0.2 left on the clock to give the Heat a 58-46 advantage at the break.
The second half was all Miami.
James, who was booed loudly almost every time he touched the ball, hit a key 3-pointer and had a breakaway dunk in the third quarter to help push the lead to 26 midway through the third and the Bobcats never mounted a series challenge after that point.
James has never lost a first-round series with his teams in Cleveland and Miami going a combined 8-0.

There was some intrigue entering the game.
James was outspoken on Friday after taking an elbow to the throat from Josh McRoberts in Game 2, although no flagrant foul was called on the floor.
The two made contact early in the first quarter when James drove baseline and McRoberts attempted to take a charge, but officials called a blocking foul. James made the shot but missed the ensuing free throw. McRoberts walked away after the foul clapping his hands, refusing to get upset by a call that could have easily gone the other way.
The Bobcats got a big boost early from Jefferson, who scored 15 points on 7 of 9 shooting to help build a 27-23 lead.
Jefferson, who has been hobbled by a strained plantar fascia since the first quarter of Game 1, seemed to have some of his mobility back Saturday night. At one point he scored on a spin move in the low post, surprising Chris Andersen.
Jefferson even got to the foul line for the first time in the series.
By the middle of the second quarter, Bobcats fans, wearing all white, began chanting "M-V-P M-V-P" as Jefferson shot free throws. But Charlotte's enthusiasm was short-lived as James and the Heat began flexing their muscles.
NOTES: The soldout crowd of 19,633 was the largest ever to see a Bobcats game at Time Warner Cable Arena. ... Bobcats owner Michael Jordan took in the game from the end of the bench. ... James has scored at least 20 points in all three playoff games ... The Heat are 19-7 in the playoffs over the past two seasons.

The disturbing comments of the racist Clippers owner might have been affected the performance of the team during Game 4. Even if they set it aside there is still a part on which they want to protest for that stupidity. Well let's still see what will happen to the Clippers-Warriors series. On the other hand, both Bulls and Houston fell down to 3-1 against their respective opponents. What a series of playoff games.

Bulls down 3-1 against wizards... :(
Rockets and Blazers, best series of the first round for me, they've been playing a lot of OTs. Perfect match-up, no excuses.
Can't wait for another game of Mavs vs Spurs, and Thunder vs Grizzlies. Underdogs vs Top seeded teams.

Dominating ang Wizards tol. They have Gortat and Nene for the defensive part while the rest are shooters (Wall, Beal, Ariza).

Ganun din ang bulls they have Noah and Boozer Gibson for defensive assignments, may Butler, Dunleavy at Augustin consistent shooters ang bulls.

It's not really a matter of who's on top during the season, but who will be the one to survive the playoffs.

Laking bagay ni Beal, reminds me of Ben Gordon nung nasa Bulls pa sya in terms of being a shooter.

In the absence of Beal and Wall may Ariza naman lol. Si Gibson lang naasahan nila kahapon with the help of Noah. I wonder how Thibodeau could adjust the lineup.
But I think Pop has something in mind pa so there's a lot of things to watch out.
Heat will sweep off the Bobcats. May chance pang maging champ ulit.

For sure there will be game 7 on some series including the GSW-LAC. This is a good matchup going forward. If either Bulls or Rockets bounce back, then their only hope is to force a game 7 as it will be their last and only chance for the next round if ever they could make it.

yun oh na Memphis na naman ang OKC ahahaha.. just like i said.. Memphis will upset this Durant and the gang, mahina ang coach maski magaling ang player.. Record pala sila 4th straight over time in a row.. sayang talo sa reply ang okc ahaha di umabot ang tip-in ni Ibaka..
Goodbye Chicago!
Dallas 2014 champion !
-
talo pala okc. si mike "okc killer" miller 21 points. hehehe
-
nice win by the grizzlies, pero don't count the thunder out yet. nandyan pa din si durant, pero i saw rumors na out na si scott brooks if the thunder don't win lol. bukas, another classic matchups na naman with spurs-mavs (go spurs go! lol) at rockets-blazers.
-
Lol, I thought OKC got the win because of that supposed to be buzzer beater tip in by Ibaka kaya pinatay ko na yung desktop. I was surprised seeing the results afterwards that Memphis now leads the series. I would like Memphis to step forward. Upset is about to come for both Pacers and Thunder.
Wizards vs. Hawks? Ok na yan. If ever Nets eliminate Raptors then Heat vs. Nets will also be a good series to look forward.
Back in San Antonio, let's see how Pop play his game in this crucial game 5.
Houston will be the next to say goodbye. One last for Clippers but I guess aabot yan ng game 7. Warriors should not be underestimated.

tingin ko magkaka-game 7 ang spurs-mavs with spurs advancing. gone r the days na nagswe-sweep ang spurs. tumatanda na sila eh.

Would the Pacers be able to force a game 7? Or would they end up upset? Either Pacers or Thunder will be gone fishing at the end of the day. >:D They're lucky enough if they could force a game 7 :))

Game 7:

Pacers vs Hawks

Pero magandang matchup yan if Spurs will advance.

May dalawang upset pang aabangan tol. OKC at San Antonio. But I hope Spurs advance. Magandang matchup yun vs. Trail Blazers. Kung papipiliin ako gusto kong mag advance e Memphis. LAC vs. GSW kahit sino mag advance kasi parehas malakas e.

I'm betting again for Portland to upset San Antonio as they did to Houston. :book1:
-
Doubt ako sa Nets matalo ang heat kahit nasweep nila heat during the regular season.
Blazers vs Spurs is the most interesting series for the second round for me. Great match ups:
Lillard - Parker
Batum - Leonard
Aldridge - Duncan
Matthews - Ginobili

Effective si Parker the whole game kanina. Parang walang pressure, but syempre home kasi nila. Puro seniority level ang players ng Spurs but I bet them to surpass Trailblazers.

November 1, 2013: Nets 101, Heat 100 (@Barclays) -- The Heat went on a late 8-0 run in toward the end of the 4th quarter, but the Nets managed to hang on. Brook Lopez went for 13 points and six rebounds in 20 minutes. Andrei Kirilenko played 12 minutes.
January 10, 2014: Nets, 104, Heat 95 (2OT) (@Barclays) -- Joe Johnson scored 32 points, as the game went to double overtime, before the Nets were really able to pull away. Again, the Nets carried a lead into the fourth quarter, but allowed for the Heat to make a big comeback, forcing overtime (and eventually double OT). Deron Williams and Dwyane Wade did not play in this game.
March 12, 2014: Nets 95, Heat 94 (AA Arena) -- Paul Pierce scored 29 points, and the Nets held LeBron James to 19 points on 6-of-13 shooting. Chris Bosh threw the ball away at the end of the game, as they had a chance to take the lead late in the fourth. The Nets stole the ball and ran out the clock. Deron Williams was awful, scoring just six points. Kevin Garnett and Andrei Kirilenko did not play for the Nets.
April 8, 2014: Nets 88, Heat 87 (AA Arena) -- This was the Mason Plumlee Block Game. LeBron James had the ball in the paint with three seconds to go, the Nets up by one point. He went up for what seemed to be an inevitable game-ending dunk, until rookie Mason Plumlee contested and blocked him at the rim. Nets win. Deron Williams was bad, again, with eight points and six assists. Joe Johnson went for 19 points, while Marcus Thornton scored 16 off the bench.
pero sa bagay, playoffs na. the championship is at stake, for sure babawi na ang miami sa nets lol
-
go spurs. one last championship for duncan, ginobili, parker and popovich.
-
game 1 goes to washington, ano kaya nangyari kay roy hibbert? 0 points 0 REB! (lol), 0/2 fgs in 17 mins. if indiana wants to win a game in this series, dapat ma-motivate nila si hibbert to contribute atleast sa defense man lang.
-
Taob sa game 1 ang dalawang home lol what a game. OKC tinambakan. Ang upset baka ngayong second round mangyari. >:D nangangarag ang Pacers sa Wizards.

Iba talaga ang laban sa regular season. Ngayong playoffs lumalabas ang talagang matchup. Well-prepared ang Heat. Same with Spurs. Lumakas ang Clippers on the other hand. Is it because of the coach? Racist kasi si Sterling at inalis si Del Negro kasi maputi syang negro at ang pinalit ay si Doc Rivers na coach at doctor at the same time pero literal na black. Dun pa sinuwerte ang LAC :))

i hope clippers manalo bukas, at sa series haha

A three-peat? Yeah... I think so... Its doable at this moment...

I hope TP9 could make it going to WCF. Injury really sucks especially when your help is badly needed. He still have plenty of time to rest though while waiting for the result of the OKC-LAC bout.

hmmm... everything is now in place and where they should be in da first place. thunder-spurs tsaka pacers-heat sa east and west. parehong 1-2 teams ang maglalaban.
-

Other player needs to step up.
Though TP is not 100% din, Patty Mills who plays like Jameer Nelson should step up din, in case TP's minutes will go down to keep him fresh for more important games of the series.

I think Pop also considers that scenario. Patty Mills became a reliable point guard during the times when TP is out due to an injury. TP still have time to rest and practice though his playing time could be limited. Malaking bagay sya lalo pa may depensa and shooter pa.

On the hand, Heat - Pacers
Kailangan ma solve ng Pacers ang dribble drive offense ng Miami, lalo na pag dying seconds at kailangan ng Heat ng dagger three, either Lebron can pass it to an open Chris Bosh/Ray Allen or attack the rim.

Malakas ang Spurs sa West coz they got the discipline from a respective coach. They don't need a hang time to prove that they deserve to be a champ. Kung hang time mas kilala ang LAC given that they have the Paul-Griffin tandem.

Ang tipid ni Popovich sa playing time ng starters nya, parang boxing ata approach nya dito, inuubos nya yung stamina/edurance ng OKC just in time for a counter attack sa next games?

Parang may iba sa Spurs e. Nangarag ba sila sa pagbalik ni Ibaka? Lol the playing minutes of Pop's big three were not the usual minutes they play on a normal game.

Pop did that because his bench players were more effective than his starters. Besides, midway through the third quarter, he already accepted defeat.
-
Obviously di sila prepared to deal with OKC when Ibaka returned until now. So yea sir zzgundam is right, after 2nd half ineffective na yung starters nya and Pop already gave it up and decided to keep them fresh for game 5.
QUOTABLE III: "I didn't see any sense in it."-- Spurs coach Gregg Popovich on why he kept his starters on the bench after the big Thunder lead had been cut by more than half. He wanted to save their energy for Thursday's Game 5.
QUOTABLE IV: "Pop did a great job all season keeping us fresh. I understand his decision (to keep the starters on the bench), I trust his judgment and now I just have to be ready for Game 5."-- Tony Parker
-
Si Hibbert biglang naging lampa. He needs to assert himself if indiana wants to win thr ECF
-
if OKC makes it to the NBA Finals, Miami Heat will beat them again. The last time they met, OKC still has James Harden. Now, their bench is so thin. Other than Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook, there's no one who can be considered a threat. And Westbrook must learn how to play second fiddle to Durant. Look at Dwyane Wade. He was the main man in Miami before but has now embraced being second to LeBron James. I still want San Antonio Spurs to win the Western Conference Finals. They want revenge, their bench is as deep as the Heat and they're just a great organization.

Spurs handle Heat, win 110-95 in NBA Finals Game 1
SAN ANTONIO (AP) -- ''Beat the Heat!'' had a whole new meaning in a sweltering start to the NBA Finals.
The San Antonio Spurs handled the conditions, and the team, and it sure helped when a suffering LeBron James couldn't make it to the finish.
Tim Duncan had 21 points and 10 rebounds, and the Spurs beat the Heat 110-95 on Thursday night in Game 1 at steamy AT&T Center.
With an air conditioning failure making it feel like a sauna and causing James to battle cramps that knocked him out of the decisive stretch, the Spurs pulled away to win the opener of the first finals rematch since 1998.
''After I came out of the game, they kind of took off,'' James said. ''And it was frustrating sitting out and not be able to help our team.''
Manu Ginobili had 16 points and 11 assists, Tony Parker added 19 points and eight assists and the Spurs - 6 for 6 in NBA Finals Game 1s - shot 59 percent.
''Just very proud of my team,'' Parker said. ''We kept believing, kept pushing. We know it's not easy.''
They host Game 2 on Sunday - likely in cooler conditions.
James finished with 25 points but played only 33 minutes, and Miami was outscored 36-17 in the fourth quarter.
''It sucks not being out there for your team, especially at this point in the season,'' James said.
Dwyane Wade had 19 points and Chris Bosh added 18, but the Heat wilted in temperatures that soared to 90 degrees in the second half.
''It was tough on both teams,'' Spurs coach Gregg Popovich said. ''They were pretty dead. We tried to get guys in and out. ... It was really hot out there.''
James, who had cramping issues two years ago in the finals, had to ask for a break in the fourth quarter and was getting treatment during a 15-4 Spurs run that turned around the game.
James came back in and made a basket that cut it to two points with about 4 minutes left, but couldn't even run back on defense, promptly putting his hand up and lingering at the baseline until help arrived to take him off for good.
''I think it felt like a punch in the gut when you see your leader limping like that back to the bench,'' Heat coach Erik Spoelstra said.
Danny Green followed with 3-pointer to trigger what became a 16-3 run to end the game.
''You could see the heat was getting to a lot of guys. If I played as many minutes as he did, I'd probably be cramping up, too,'' said Green, who scored 11 of his 13 points in the final quarter.
The crowd chanted ''Beat the Heat! Beat the Heat!'' late in the game, which was just what the fans themselves were trying to do.
The Spurs said an electrical failure for the power that runs the air conditioning system had occurred. They apologized for the inconvenience but also seemed to poke fun of it, playing songs with ''hot'' in the lyrics over the sound system.
Fans were trying to cool themselves on the hot night, a reminder of what it was like in the old Boston Garden when the Celtics and Lakers got together.
The Heat are the first team since those Celtics of 1984-87 to get to four straight finals. They are well-rested after a relatively easy roll through the Eastern Conference playoffs, a key to keeping Wade healthy entering the finals.
James was the MVP of the series last year when the Heat rallied from five points down in the final half-minute of regulation to win Game 6 in overtime, then won a Game 7 that was close the whole way for their second straight championship.
A rematch was widely anticipated and was close almost throughout. The Heat led 86-79 after Bosh's four-point play with 9:38 remaining in the game, but it was all San Antonio from there, and Wade said there were problems even beyond James' absence.
''Obviously, tonight we would've loved to have him in there to finish the game, but we've got to finish the game better,'' Wade said.
The Spurs ended up extending their NBA-record streak to eight straight home playoff wins by 15 or more points. Their roster is filled with international players, such as Parker and Ginobili, who both said they were used to playing without air conditioning overseas.
Bosh, scoreless in Game 7 last year, scored Miami's first five points in the Heat's 7-2 start. But Ginobili came off the bench firing, making consecutive 3-pointers for an 18-13 lead.
Wade and James combined for six straight points before Ginobili made another 3, and Patty Mills added one to close the first-quarter scoring and give the Spurs a 26-20 advantage.
The Spurs committed nine turnovers while managing only 20 points in the third quarter, and Miami led 78-74 heading to the fourth.
Notes: James joined Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant as the only players with 4,000 points and 1,000 assists in the postseason. ... Ray Allen moved past Bryant and Derek Fisher into second place on the career list with 49 3-pointers in the NBA Finals. Robert Horry, a former Spurs forward, is the leader with 56.

And just like that, no more home team advantage for Spurs.

If they can solve/survive the dribble drive penetration play that may lead to a kick-out pass to an open three or Lebron attacking the rim then the Spurs will be all right.

James carries Heat past Spurs to tie NBA Finals (Game 2)
SAN ANTONIO (AP) -- No cramps, no problems for LeBron James.
And with their superstar making it to the finish this time, the Miami Heat bounced back from a loss, just as they always do in the playoffs.
''Obviously, having No. 6 in the game at the end was a plus for us,'' Dwyane Wade said.
James had 35 points and 10 rebounds in a powerful comeback from the cramps that knocked him out of the opener, as the Heat tied the NBA Finals with a 98-96 victory over the San Antonio Spurs in Game 2 Sunday night.
Chris Bosh made the go-ahead 3-pointer on a pass from James with 1:18 remaining for the Heat, who have won 13 straight following a loss in the postseason. Just like last year, they rebounded after losing Game 1 to the Spurs.
Bosh had 18 points for the Heat, who are headed home for Game 3 Tuesday night.
James played more than 37 minutes, making 14 of 22 shots. He was 1 for 4 with three turnovers in a shaky first quarter, then made 11 of his next 13.
After two days of enduring criticism for not finishing the game and getting suggestions on how to avoid cramps, James changed the subject.
''What happened on Thursday was Thursday,'' James said. ''My whole focus was how I was going to try to help this team even this up and just try to make some plays.''
He had a key strip of Tony Parker down the stretch, playing a dominant game on both ends as if he had something to prove.
As usual, James found a way to silence his haters.
He had 11 points in the second quarter, helping Miami erase an 11-point deficit early in the period. The game was played within a margin of a few points from there, and the Spurs missed a chance to seize control in the fourth quarter when Parker and Tim Duncan missed four straight free throws when they had a two-point lead.
James then made a 3-pointer and two free throws to put Miami in position to win.
Parker scored 21 points and Duncan had 18 points and 15 rebounds for the Spurs, who had won eight straight at home by at least 15 points.
''Down the end there they executed really well,'' Duncan said. ''LeBron made some great passes and guys made open shots. We had the same result in the first game. They kind of flipped it in this one.''
The game was played in comfortable conditions inside the AT&T Center, where an air conditioning failure in Game 1 sent temperatures soaring to about 90 degrees. The broken circuit breaker was fixed by Friday afternoon, and it was much cooler inside the arena.
James had the toughest time with the heat Thursday, needing treatment midway through the fourth quarter before eventually having to leave for good. He had plenty of time to recover, with the two days off between Games 1 and 2.
He changed only a little of his routine, taking an 8 a.m. yoga class Sunday morning and switching to a shorter pair of tights.
He personally erased a 62-56 San Antonio lead by scoring eight points in less than a minute, and his 14 points in the third quarter had Miami down only 78-77 heading to the fourth.
''For me, once I get into a good groove, I feel like everything is going to go in,'' James said.
For a time, everything did. Then he switched to being a passer at the end, finding Bosh in the corner for the shot that made it 95-93.
Wade and Rashard Lewis each scored 14 points for the Heat, who also dropped Game 1 of the NBA Finals against Oklahoma City two years ago. They have won five straight series after dropping the opening game.
The Spurs were in good position, withstanding James' assault long enough to lead by one with under 2 minutes to play. But they were shut out from there until Manu Ginobili's 3-pointer as time expired.
''LeBron with the ball did a pretty good job at his end and we had to be really perfect at the other end and we didn't,'' Spurs coach Gregg Popovich said. ''We didn't take advantage of things. We made bad decisions.''
And it didn't help them that they had to deal with James at the end of this one.
Ginobili finished with 19 points for the Spurs, whose 18 points in the fourth quarter were half the 36 they scored in the opener.
''We have a very competitive group and you have two days to commiserate how that game went down,'' Heat coach Erik Spoelstra said. ''It was frustrating, painful going through that for two days and now we have to manage the other emotion.''
After their sensational finish to Game 1, the Spurs picked up right where they left off, making 10 of their first 15 shots. They opened an 11-point lead early in the second before James got going. He had three straight Miami baskets, and a follow shot later in the period gave the Heat their first lead at 34-33.
Notes: Parker has 1,026 assists in the postseason, moving past Michael Jordan (1,022) for eighth place on the career postseason list. He also passed Jordan's Hall of Fame teammate, Scottie Pippen, for 13th on the career scoring list with 3,655 points.

Leonard, Spurs roll to 111-92 victory over Heat (Game 3)
MIAMI (AP) -- Maybe in a video game. Possibly in the pregame layup line.
But shoot this way in the NBA Finals, against the two-time defending champions?
''It's not something you can plan for,'' San Antonio reserve Manu Ginobili said. ''There was no magic plays. We just moved the ball and every shot went in.''
Not quite every shot. But just about.
Kawhi Leonard scored a career-high 29 points, and the Spurs made a finals-record 75.8 percent of their shots in the first half in a 111-92 victory over the Miami Heat on Tuesday night that gave them a 2-1 lead.
The Spurs made 19 of their first 21 shots and finished 25 of 33 in the first half, bettering the 75 percent shooting by Orlando against the Lakers in the 2009 finals.
''It's a hit-or-miss league,'' Miami's Dwyane Wade said.
The Spurs didn't do much missing.
''I don't think we'll ever shoot 76 percent in a half ever again,'' Spurs coach Gregg Popovich said.
The Spurs led by as much as 25 and were only briefly challenged in their second lopsided victory in the series.
LeBron James and Dwyane Wade had 22 points for the Heat, who host Game 4 on Thursday.
Returning to the arena where they were oh-so-close to winning a fifth championship last year, the Spurs came out playing like they were trying to build a lead that was impossible to blow.
They shot 13 of 15 and led 41-25 lead after the first quarter, then hit their first six shots of the second in front of a stunned crowd in Miami to go ahead 55-30.

MIAMI, FL - JUNE 10: Kawhi Leonard #2 of the San Antonio Spurs and Head Coach Gregg Popovich during …
Leonard scored only 18 points in the first two games, looking frustrated while getting into foul trouble trying to defend James in Game 2. But he had his outside shot working early, making his first six shots and finishing 10 of 13 from the field.
''I just found a rhythm and my teammates found me the ball. I made shots,'' Leonard said.
The last three NBA seasons ended in this building, the last two followed by Heat championship parades.
The Spurs nearly canceled the last one, building a five-point lead in the final half-minute of regulation of Game 6, a title seeming so certain that workers were already making preparations around the court.
But the Heat rallied to win in overtime and took Game 7, leaving the Spurs with a summer to think about the one that got away.
They're in good shape to get another chance.
With the league scrapping the 2-3-2 format for the NBA Finals -in which the lower seed played three consecutive home games - the Spurs would have a chance to wrap it up in San Antonio on Sunday in Game 5 if they can win Thursday.
Chris Bosh took only four shots and scored nine points for the Heat, who for the second straight year will have to overcome a 2-1 finals deficit after being blown out in Game 3.
This rout came on their home floor, where they had been 8-0 this postseason and had won a franchise-record 11 in a row since the Spurs beat them in Game 1 last year.
San Antonio inserted Boris Diaw into the lineup, countering Miami's small lineup and creating more ball movement that clearly helped Leonard. The game got off to a crisp start, with the Spurs making their first five shots and Miami opening 4 for 4.
Turned out the Spurs were just getting started.
Coach Erik Spoelstra planned to communicate with James to make sure there were no lingering problems from the cramps that forced him to miss the final minutes of the opener. But there was no way he could rest James early, since he was the only one keeping the Heat in the game. He had 14 of their first 20 points, but even James couldn't keep up with the Spurs' pace.
The Spurs ''came out at a different gear than what we were playing at, and it just seemed we were on our heels the most part of the first half,'' Spoelstra said.
San Antonio led 71-50 at halftime. It was the first 70-point first half in the finals since the Lakers scored 75 against Boston in Game 2 in 1987.
The Heat finally got into it in the third, running off 10 straight points to cut a 17-point deficit to 81-74 on a drive by Norris Cole, who had replaced an ineffective Mario Chalmers.
That was as close as Miami would get, as the Spurs pulled away in the fourth.
Notes: Wade appeared in his 150th postseason game and passed Dirk Nowitzki (3,455 points) for 17th on the postseason scoring list. ... The Heat fell to 68-20 in the postseason at American Airlines Arena. Their .782 winning percentage entering the game trailed only the Lakers' .792 mark at Staples Center.

Spurs is a tough opponent for Heat. Imagine Heat is like an NBA All Star, while Spurs is like FIBA All Stars with international players. Pop just learned how to play Heat's game. However, mahaba pa ang series so we can't say who'll prevail at the end. Babalik at babalik ang Heat. Even if I cheer for Spurs, I got enough respect for Heat. Even if, I must admit, I'm a LeBron hater LOL!

Spurs take 3-1 lead with 107-86 victory over Heat (Game 4)
MIAMI (AP) -- Here they are again, back on the brink of a championship.
It slipped away from the San Antonio Spurs last year, but it would take something special - historic, actually - to stop them now.
The Miami Heat would have to make the biggest comeback in NBA Finals history.
''They're the two-time champs, they're a great team, and there is still one more game,'' Spurs guard Tony Parker said. ''We have to win one more game.''
Kawhi Leonard had 20 points and 14 rebounds, and the Spurs routed the Heat again, winning 107-86 on Thursday night to open a commanding 3-1 lead.
The Spurs can win their fifth NBA championship with a victory at home in Game 5 on Sunday and avenge their seven-game loss to Miami last year. They have three chances, and the way they're dominating the Heat, they might need just one.
''I'm pleased that they performed as well as they did while we've been in Miami, and that's about as far as it goes,'' Spurs coach Gregg Popovich said. ''Now we've got to go back home and play as well or better.''
LeBron James had 28 points and eight rebounds, but Dwyane Wade was just 1 of 10 through three quarters and finished with 10 points.
''They smashed us,'' James said. ''Two straight home games got off to awful starts. They came in and were much better than us in these last two games. It's just that simple.''
No team has overcome a 3-1 deficit in the finals, and the way the Heat were outclassed twice on their home floor makes it hard to imagine the two-time champions being the first.
''We put ourselves in a position where it is about making history,'' James added.
Parker added 19 points, and Tim Duncan had 10 points and 11 rebounds for the Spurs, who shot 57 percent from the field and are hitting 54 percent in the series.
The Spurs lost twice in Miami to end last year's finals, their only defeat in the championship round. They won their two games in South Florida this time by a combined 40 points.
San Antonio's surprising dominance has Miami on its heels, and unless Miami can figure things out quickly, the Heat's two-year championship reign will come to an abrupt end.
If this was the last home game of the season in Miami, it looked and sounded nothing like the ones to end the last two years, which featured confetti falling and trophies raised. This one had the unfamiliar sound of boos late in the first half and a chant of ''Go Spurs Go!'' with under 3 minutes left from the San Antonio fans who remained long after many of Miami's had bolted.
A Heat win Sunday would force a Game 6 in Miami Tuesday.
The Heat had followed their last 13 postseason losses with a victory, but now at the end of a fourth straight season that has gone the distance, they might be out of gas. Miami seemed to lack the energy - or maybe effort - to defend San Antonio's precision ball movement for the full 24 seconds, and time after time the Spurs ended up with a shot from somebody who didn't have a defender nearby.
Not quite as sharp as when they shot a finals-record 75.8 percent in the first half Tuesday night, the Spurs were still plenty good enough to open another huge lead by halftime, and they withstood every attempt Miami made to make a run.
''We were expecting a reaction from them but we were ready for it, so we just did the same thing,'' Spurs forward Boris Diaw said.
The Spurs knew their defense had to be better, realizing their once-in-a-lifetime, 19-for-21 start in Tuesday's 111-92 Game 3 victory covered the fact that they allowed Miami to make more than 50 percent in the game.
They held Miami to 35 percent in the first half.
''They played great and I can honestly say I don't think any of us were expecting this type of performance,'' Heat coach Erik Spoelstra said.
San Antonio blew the game open late in the second quarter with seven straight points, capped by Leonard's soaring follow dunk that made it 55-33.
James, who battled cramps in Game 1, left the court and briefly returned to the locker room midway through the first quarter Thursday. But he had 10 quick points in the third quarter to bring Miami within 13, but San Antonio pushed it to 81-57 after three and never looked back.
Notes: Under Popovich, the Spurs have won 15 of the 18 best-of-seven series in which they led 2-1. ... The Heat hadn't lost back-to-back games in the playoffs since dropping three straight against the Boston Celtics in the 2012 Eastern Conference finals.

Spurs beat Heat 104-87 in Game 5 to win NBA title (Game 5)
SAN ANTONIO (AP) -- Tim Duncan, Manu Ginobili and Tony Parker, the winningest trio in NBA postseason history, shared hugs.
Players wrapped themselves in flags from around world, a reminder that the San Antonio Spurs look far beyond the border to build champions, as confetti fell from above.
Painfully denied 12 months ago by the Miami Heat, this victory party was worth the wait.
''It makes last year OK,'' Duncan said.
The Spurs finished off a dominant run to their fifth NBA championship Sunday night, ending the Heat's two-year title reign with a 104-87 victory that wrapped up the series in five games.
''We had a great first quarter, but from that point on they were the better team, and that's why they're the champions in 2014,'' said LeBron James, who led the Heat with 31 points and 10 rebounds.
San Antonio erased an early 16-point deficit and routed Miami for the fourth time in the series, denying the Heat's quest for a third straight championship. A year after the Spurs suffered their only loss in six finals appearances - a heartbreaking seven-game defeat - they turned the rematch into no match at all.
''We wanted to redeem ourselves. I'm just glad we were able to do that,'' Parker said.
Finals MVP Kawhi Leonard had 22 points and 10 rebounds for the Spurs, who added this title to the ones they won in 1999, 2003, '05 and '07. They nearly had another last year, but couldn't hold off the Heat.
''I've said many times, a day didn't go by where I didn't think about Game 6,'' Spurs coach Gregg Popovich said of the turning point in last year's finals. ''So I think, just in general, for the group to have the fortitude that they showed to get back to this spot, I think speaks volumes about how they're constituted and what kind of fiber they have.''
Not to mention tons of talent, and perhaps the best coaching in the game.
''They played exquisite basketball this series and in particular these last three games and they are the better team. There's no other way to say it,'' Heat coach Erik Spoelstra said.
The Spurs won four titles in nine years, but hadn't been back on top since 2007, making Foreigner's ''Feels Like the First Time'' an appropriate song choice after the final buzzer.
Duncan and Popovich have been here for all of them, and it was the fourth for Parker and Ginobili, who with Duncan are once again the reigning the Big Three in the NBA.
Chris Bosh finished with 13 points and Dwyane Wade just 11 on 4-of-12 shooting for the Heat.
The painful conclusion to last year's NBA Finals served as the fuel for this one, powering the Spurs to a league-best 62-win season and a rematch with Miami - the first in the finals since Chicago beat Utah in 1997-98.
Round 2 went to the Spurs, but both teams have challenges to navigate if there is to be a rubber match.
San Antonio will face questions - as it has for years - about the age of its core, and whether Duncan, Ginobili and Popovich want to stick around. The Heat will brace for the potential free agency of James, Wade and Bosh, and will need younger, fresher pieces around the three All-Stars if they all stay.
But this moment belongs to the Spurs.
Playing a methodical, albeit winning, style for many years made San Antonio respected, but never beloved. The Spurs were TV ratings killers, casual viewers finding them not much fun to watch.
But Popovich opened up the offense a few years ago, making the Spurs an easy-to-like, tough-to-beat group that thrives on ball movement and 3-point shooting.
''You showed the world how beautiful this game is,'' Commissioner Adam Silver told the Spurs during the postgame award ceremony.
A decade and a half after winning their first title in 1999, when Duncan was in his second season, the Spurs remain the NBA's model organization, a small-market team that simply wins big and hardly ever does it with a high draft pick. Instead, they found players overseas or in other organizations who would fit the Spurs' way of doing things and mesh with the Duncan, Parker and Ginobili, who have teamed for 117 postseason victories.
That included Leonard, acquired in a draft-night trade with Indiana after playing at San Diego State, and Patty Mills, an Australian national who scored 17 points off the bench.
In the end, the Spurs made winning their fifth title look stunningly easy - much to the delight of the home crowd. After the slow start, they had their fans standing, chanting and dancing much of the second half.
Notes: It was the Spurs' 12th win by 15 or more points, most ever in a postseason. The Spurs outscored opponents by 214 points in the postseason. ... Miami had won 11 straight series, tied for the fifth-longest streak in NBA history.

hayyy... akala ko makakakita nanaman ako ng 3-peat this year, pero sadly not. :(

Spurs really deserve the title. Sa discipline and gameplays they got what it takes. Magaling ang coach plus the bench players do score at the same time. He's a perfectionist. Dun nadale si Heat. Ball rotation and the effectiveness of players.

I agree with you ser arthas... I am a Lebron and Heat fan by heart... pero the way Spurs played the ball (beautiful game), my mind says Heat is no match for the Spurs...

I think it took 3 season for the Spurs to perfect their system. Started during the 2011-2012 season when they eventually lost to the OKC in the WCF. Got a hang of it the next season (2012-2013) but they lost to the Heat in Finals. Finally perfected their system this 2013-2014, with an improved and solid line up. Kudos to their GM, R.C. Buford for surrounding their aging big 3 with coachable and unselfish players.
-
i agree. taob ang strategy ni coach spo kesa kay coach pop sa finals. na out-coached ang heat in the end, obvious naman eh. lahat puro blow-out games.
parang lumabas nakatali ang kamay ng mga heat players. kelangang sundin nila ang play ni coach spo - disastrous outcome. ergo makikita nyo ang resulta sa stats ng mga players, way way down. bad coaching and bad strategy ang dumale sa miami heat. the talent will always be there.

I dont think it's the coaching staff's fault kasi they were fine for two seasons diba?
Just look at Chris Bosh, he already told the media that he doesn't want to be a post up player on both ends of the floor. Si Lebron nga nagbabantay kay Duncan instead of Bosh, what a shame. Battier's hustle plays wasn't there, Chalmers' wasn't there, Wade kept on struggling.
Eto yung sinabi ko dati, they cut off Mike Miller so wala na yung mga big time and clutch 3s nya na bumubuhay at gumigising dati sa Heat.

It would be better if they gave Chalmers away to other teams.
