MANILA, Philippines – As part of a worldwide recall of 6.39 million vehicles, Toyota said it was recalling 3 models sold in the Philippines from November 2004 to June 2010.

Its Philippine unit, Toyota Motor Philippines Corporation (TMP), launched a special service campaign covering Innova, Fortuner and Hilux vehicles sold within the period. TMP said the vehicles may have a spiral cable problem.

"Due to the shape and location of the spiral cable retainers, this may cause some connectivity loss related to the air bag system. In such case, the driver side air bag may not deploy in the event of a crash," it said.

There are, however, no incidents reported related to this condition, noted the company.

TMP said authorized Toyota dealers in the country would replace the spiral cable assembly of the vehicles free of charge.

It advised owners of the affected units to set appointments with their respective dealerships or contact the company's customer assistance center at (02) 819-2912 for concerns.

On Wednesday, Toyota announced the recall of 6.39 million vehicles worldwide for 5 different problems. The problems include a defect in the driver's seat, steering column problems, and an engine starter glitch that poses fire risk. – Rappler.com

basta sa recall eh mabango pa din ang pangalan ng Toyota... parang sya lang ata ang excused sa mga ganyan.. bihira kasi sila mag-declare ng recall and usually mga light problems lang ang kanilang sinasabi kung bakit kailangan ng recall... insiders at Toyota service centers do admit that they conduct silent campaigns when it comes to replacing parts.. once the owner subjects his car for the much needed warranty checks, Toyota people makes it a point to replace the questioned parts they think worth replacing before they attend to the client's warranty checks.. kaya kung minsan, mapapansin mo sa malayo na bakit kaya may binubutingting ang mga mechanics nila sa lugar kung saan wala namang dapat kalikutin.. hindi ka naman makapunta dun ng malapitan at restricted area.. one good example of this is the Innova's gas tank, yes, may findings sila na lumolobo ito due to pressure pero nakarinig ba kayo ng recall for that matter? wala... pero dun sa casa pa lang pinapalitan na nila yan agad kapag nagpa-warranty check ka... +like dito boss...
