It has the best opening sequence that I've seen so far, and it's an excellent show for a crime-suspense tv series fans!

IMDB rate : 9.5

Boss ozy, the recently concluded season is one of the best thay I've watched.

Both lead actors are good pero mas magaling  ng character at dialogues ni Cohle.

May mga fan base n nga ang series na to. Medyo naweirdohan lang ako sa ending pero it is still one of the best for me.

8 episodes lang pero lahat ay magaganda.

I agree Sir Spirit. Writers did a great job building up the story from '80s up to the present time, which truly depicts on how detectives handle cold cases. Might I add that HBO casting Matthew McConaughey was right on the money. 2013 is the start of McConaughey's maturity as an actor, since he was mostly known in chick flick films.

I think this could be the only t.v. series wherein they will change actors & new plot (another case) every season as far as I know. There are several rumors surrounding the casting of actors. Most fans wanted Bradd Pitt in reference to his character (Mills) in se7en (seven).

Slowly buy surely yung built up ng story.

Hands down talaga si Matthew McConaughey sa 2013 career nya.

‘True Detective’ Season 2 Will Have Three Leads, California Setting

More details have emerged about the cast and setting of “True Detective” season two, which will focus on three new leads, according to creator Nic Pizzolatto.

In a recent interview with public radio program “To the Best of Our Knowledge,” Pizzolatto revealed that in the new season’s current form, “we’re working with three leads. It takes place in California — not Los Angeles, but some of the much lesser known venues of California — and we’re going to try to capture a certain psychosphere ambiance of the place, much like we did in season one.”

He added, “The characters are all new, but I’m deeply in love with each of them. We’ve got the entire series broken out with a couple of scripts, and we’ll probably start casting in earnest in the coming months.”

The show’s anthology format means that season two will be entirely self-contained and distinct from its freshman year, with no plans for season one stars Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson to return — something that differentiates the series from FX’s “American Horror Story,” which recycles actors from past seasons in new roles.

Pizzolatto previously told HitFix that “True Detective” season two would be about “hard women, bad men and the secret occult history of the United States transportation system.”

Last week, rumors circulated that “Zero Dark Thirty” star Jessica Chastain was offered a role in season two, but the actress denied the buzz on the red carpet at Cannes. “It’s an awkward thing because when all that attention happens — it takes away from whoever plays the role,” she said. “I’m a big fan of the series. I’m going to watch the second season just like I watched every episode of the first.”

‘True Detective’ Season 2: More Details Emerge As Casting Rumors Intensify

The True Detective follow-up season has become the TV equivalent of the latest Star Wars sequel, with closely guarded and wildly speculated about script and casting process. The HBO series’ creator Nic Pizzolatto has dropped a few more hints, confirming with NPR program To The Best Of Our Knowledge that Season 2 of the crime thriller will have three leads. Unofficial breakdowns floated around have listed the three leads as a fortysomething male detective/cop with Joaquin Phoenix, Christian Bale and Josh Brolin as prototypes, a twentysomething male cop and a thirtysomething female detective, with Jessica Chastain as a potential prototype.

Following the tour de force performances of Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson last season, Season 2 casting rumors have been swirling, with a number of A-listers bandied about. After early speculation about Brad Pitt, Michael Fassbender and Cate Blanchett, the rumor mill in the past few weeks focused on Bale, Phoenix and Brolin as well as The Normal Heart star Taylor Kitsch for the other male lead and Chastain. (The actress, who had been approached, recently confirmed that she won’t be doing the series.) While rumors are reaching fever pitch, actual casting may be a ways away, according to Pizzolatto. “The characters are all new, but I’m deeply in love with each of them,” he told the NPR show. “We’ve got the entire series broken out with a couple of scripts, and we’ll probably start casting in earnest in the coming months.”

As for the setting of Season 2, “it takes place in California — not Los Angeles but some of the much lesser-known venues of California — and we’re going to try to capture a certain psychosphere ambiance of the place, much like we did in Season 1,” said Pizzolatto, who set the freshman year in his native Louisiana. He previously had told HitFix that the new season of True Detective would be about “hard women, bad men and the secret occult history of the United States transportation system.”
