Ilan tao na nga ba sa mundo? 7 billion, right? So what made you think you're special, that you have something new to offer that the rest of the 7 billion haven't done yet? Do you really matter?
I was watching the movie Skyline the other day (it's awful so don't bother to watch) and the goddamn alien ship was sucking thousands of people like dirt. And I was thinking, if ever something terrible happened, a catastrophe, I'll just be a statistics, maybe one of the faceless, nameless who will die in vain.

"You are unique, just like everyone else."
Hahaha! Slogan ko sana yan sa yearbook in college.
Anyway sir, upon DNA strands, finger and foot prints. Unless your parents gave you a weird or unusual name you won't give much attention unless you gave much purpose to the society. Or ituloy natin ang nakalagay sa Book of Revelation na may sign ang bawat tao just to recognize each.
Just facts of life hindi ba isa na rin itong motivation to strive? Maybe generally upon all of the things around human many have been discovered but watch closely from specific things there are many things to get recognized on, cure for AIDS, Cancer, Viruses, finding the cause of autoimmune diseases. Inventing a new source of energy, editing genetic strands, curing undifferential schizoprenia, proving theories, providing philosopical ideas, making a new book with a different kind of story or concept, at marami pang iba.
It would be really hard to get recognized into the world but it's not impossible. The mere fact that you've existed gave you a chance to be recognized. Bakit ka magtyatyagang humalo sa maraming tao kung may sarili kang perception? And if you want to compete with great people start it with a motivation. If in your mind you couldn't even think that you'll be a legend then how much more in reality?

Well said Tonying. In the grand scheme of things, I sometimes lose perspective of my very own objective dahil it's so minuscule compared to what the world needs. But then again, lagi nilang sinasabi na "every person is born with a purpose". Do you guys agree with that?

Well pwede rin natin sigurong iapply yung Butterfly effect sa social life. Dahil social creatures ang karamihan sa atin, kahit ang sarili nating mga gawain ay maaaring makainfluence ng iba pang tao on how they think and act, which could then be exponentially influential pa ulet ang effect pa dahil sa global web ng mga social interactions ng tao.
Another thought: in the end, sa tingin ko naman, hindi naman kailangang standards ng ibang tao ang batayan kung gaano ka ka-special. I mean, go ahead, ask that significant other what makes you so special. Pag wala yang naisagot... haha.
Lastly, by "what the world needs", would it be accurate to say na ang ibig mong sabihin ay "what mankind needs"? Kasi so far naman ang alam ko pa lang na developments ng mankind are for their own tangible or intangible benefit. So kung aasa lang tayo sa standards ng ibang tao for significance on the grander scheme of things, even the smartest, richest, or most powerful of them can only do so much on a macro scale. Humans "destroying their world" as a habitable place is possible. Humans "destroying the World/Earth itself" is a self-aggrandizing fantasy.
Even the earth itself isn't that much, kung ganito rin lang. (http://astroblog.cosmobc.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/07/earth-sun-betelgeuse-vv-cephei-comparison.jpg)

If what you mean purpose as in you are destined to have a specific purpose, i'm sad to say i'm not the guy you should be asking because at my age it's too early for me to evaluate, or i'm just ignoring it. As for my perception now, such purpose develops depending on the path you took. You might have your purpose once you've recognized your priorities, like may mga bagay na importante sa akin na hindi importante sa'yo. And it relates on your first statement.
I could relate for such thoughts of what you said as "minuscule". Sir, i think you are experiencing lack of appreciation or such appreciation had been provided to you but you failed to have satisfaction by it. "Everything has its beauty but not everyone sees it." Ika nga. Maybe you have a different perspective or you have a perspective but it is opposed to the people around you. Like most people don't appreciate skeptics they never think skeptical ideas refine such thoughts to improve the idea's justification. Most people decide through emotional association rather than rational analyzation.
Sir, upon human interest I don't think every people will ignore your perspective. Man will change his needs for a man will never be contented. Maybe you're around with people who lacks appreciation upon your ideas or maybe you are looking for an answer but you are asking the wrong question. I'm just throwing all my thoughts that i know of how I understood your statement you can say I am bias because I don't even know your background.
