“A genius” is how Buhay party-list Rep. Jose “Lito” Atienza describes Filipino boxing icon Manny, whose presidential potential, he said, should not be underestimated.
“Let’s not belittle him because he has a very bright mind. In fact, I call him genius. He wouldn’t become a champion with eight world titles if you’re not a genius.” Atienza said.
“And his adapting instincts to public service and politics, we already saw that as well as his capability to serve his countrymen,” the former Manila City mayor said.
Atienza said Filipinos owe it to Pacquiao, who has brought honor to the country in the boxing ring, to at least let him pursue his dreams for the country in a way he knows how.
“If that is what’s coming to his mind, let’s not belittle it because this guy did great things for the country. And it may not be repeated by anyone in many years,” Atienza said
“So let’s leave him to his dream to good things for us. Anyway, he’s a very intelligent man. In fact, maybe too intelligent,” he added.
But Atienza advised his friend not to stop working hard to reach new heights both in his boxing and political careers.
“[H]e still needs to keep on working hard and not allow himself to stray off the right path,” Atienza said.
In a statement Tuesday morning, however, Pacquiao clarified that his presidential aspirations “are not indicative of any immediate or concrete plans.”
“Serving in a higher elective post rests on the will of God and the call of the Filipino people," Pacquiao said.
He explained his focus is concentrated on his congressional duties, pushing for his legislative agenda which includes the improvement of the country's sports program.

Hmnn, may point dito si Atienza, though i'm not really in favor for Pacquiao to run for president but belittling him is some what over the board for me to hear or read it from other people that does nothing to the country but to criticize people especially those that are trying their best to really served the people.
+karma sa iyo sir

Thanks for the karma, sir imoy. Well, on my own opinion, I think winning 8 divisions in the ring is enough. Presidency is too far from being a boxer. I'm not underestimating him, maybe he has something in mind or a better plan for this country, but as I see, he already did his part on bringing the pride back to the Filipinos. That's his choice if he wants to step up for the presidency, however, that obligation is too much for him. Politics should not be combined with sports or whatsoever. Just my two cents.

After so many punches his head took, I'd think otherwise.
pinapalobo lang nila yung ulo ni manny na parang balloon tapos makikisakay sila hanggang maabot na nila ang mga personal agendas nila. Tapos *plok* sila din mismo ang magpapaputok sa lobo.

Maybe "genius" is not the best adjective for pacquiao.

tama nga naman si atienza dito kase hindi ka magiging 8th world champ kung mahina utak mo pero lahat naman ng bagay may limitations di ba??
