Manila, Philippines --- The City of Manila under new Mayor Joseph Ejercito Estrada has introduced a 10-point agenda that will restore and renew the city from what a foreign novelist described as the "Gates of Hell."
"While some may see it fit and enough to just criticize a place for its faults and shortcomings, the better thing to do is to change and improve it," Manila Tourism and Cultural Affairs Bureau (MTCAB) Director Flordeliza T. Villaseñor said.
Estrada's 10-point agenda are: Clean and Green Spaces; Solid Waste Management; Emergency Response Action; Peace and Order; Job Creation and Livelihood Opportunities; Economy; Education; Health; Housing and Settlement; and Transparent Tax Collection and Public Expenditure Programs.
"The agenda can be likened to a sturdy broom that if used steadily and painstakingly, can sweep problems and restore Manila for Manileño's well-being," Villaseñor said.
She also said that the programs may not transform Manila into a postcard-perfect city that meets critic's approval, but what is important is that the residents are satisfied with their way of life.
"At the end of the day, the satisfaction of the Manileños is more crucial," she said.

i agree sir, and from what the estrada's done when he is still mayor there may give the manilenos changes to look forward to.... let's just hope that it is not just in the talk...

Mahaba haba pa ang term ni Erap jan as mayor. Mahirap na baka sa umpisa lang yan. Let's just see what he can do to improve the city of Manila.

though there is ups and downs of that bus ban in manila, how are people supposedly get in their jobs? by mrt and lrt? tsk tsk tsk, before implementing a ban check first if the effect first to the people working. I doubt there will be more criminals now in manila..

ano ba sa salitang "fiction" ang hindi naiintindihan ng mga mokong na to? bakit na offend sila? bakit dahil ba may *slight truth ang pag describe ng fictional book?
hindi magiging "gates of heaven" ang metro manila as long na over crowded ito, ang solusyon dito, decentralization. ilagay/maglagay ng mga major establishment/trabaho sa mga probinsya, yung tipong hindi na luluwas ang mga taga probinsya diyan at maging squatter.

Yun naimplement ang bus ban.. lumuwag ang traffic lalo na sa taft... Ang cons lang marami student ang nastranded dahil sa mga student from cavite nawala ang sinasakyan nila na bus. Pero 5 days binalik uli ang bus kaso yun may ticket na naka apply lang sa citihall ang allowed.

we keep on voting people na walang track record na ginagawa lang ang mga bagay according sa kanilang whim. Bullshit.
We need a 50 year urban planning and stick with it no matter who comes as the mayor.

Yun naimplement ang bus ban.. lumuwag ang traffic lalo na sa taft... Ang cons lang marami student ang nastranded dahil sa mga student from cavite nawala ang sinasakyan nila na bus. Pero 5 days binalik uli ang bus kaso yun may ticket na naka apply lang sa citihall ang allowed.

Great to hear that, almost a year na ko di nakaka daan sa taft since college days, at pag ayoko mag lrt-lrt, nagdadala ako ng kotse usually nala-late ako dahil sa traffic hahaha Sana bawasan din nila yung mga jeep at yung mga nakaka iritang kuliglig(kuma-counter flow e) another way is gawan nila ng paraan yung mga illegal settlers na galing probinsya, sila din yung reason kung bakit madumi ang lugar at nagbabaha.

May plans sila to redevelop Roxas boulevard. Shops, cafes etc on one side, tapos bike and jogging lane on the other.
