There are 2 global initiatives that in my opinion is ineffective and complete waste of time. One is the DST (daylight saving time) which began this year on Mar 10 and this Earth Hour tomorrow. Both are observed to conserve energy pero sa totoo, they're not. In fact, the death and accidents caused by the change in time increase 3x at the start of DST. Productivity at work goes down as well. Sa Earth Hour naman, it creates a disillusion that it impacts energy conservation. Really? Isang oras sa isang taon will not make any difference. They don't even bother to measure how much energy is saved because it is so small so insignificant. It was just designed to increase awareness but people just go back to their old wasteful ways pagkatapos ng isang oras of commercial darkness.
