Title: Tip: Try not to get an operation or really sick in April
Post by: caligula on July 03, 2013, 09:35:18 AM
Sa mga nasa Pilipinas, as much as possible, hwag magpapaopera o macoconfine sa hospital sa buwan ng Abril. Sa US and Canada, try not to go to the hospital in July for treatment.

The reason: mortality rate goes up during these months due to influx of inexperienced doctors. During summer, that is when newly graduates become intern, interns become residents and residents become fellows. Sa ibang salita, marami sa kanila ang nangangapa pa rin at nasa learning curve on how hospitals operate. The result is a dramatic increase in fatal medication errors.

A sad truth, but how will interns become great doctors if they are not training with real patients?

Really?

well, such interventions apply. Guided naman sila and major cases need rigorous training and certification upon doing. Sa pilipinas you could make a written agreement that you will not be touched by a student or a trainee upon interventions and even admissions if you like. We want to be as safe possible to do our job but we also want to spread our philosophy and skills to others. Human error is not an excuse, that's why our licenses are on the line, but a sad truth is that it will happen again for sometime. Even veteran doctors and other health practitioners do mistakes to be honest. It's just a matter of trust and cooperation.

ang alam ko especially sa operation, interns are just observers. at pagdating naman sa patient check-up, they are still under the supervision of the resident doctors.... perhaps go to the doctor whom we know is the best choice if we really need to have a check-up
