Malapit na mag-start ang UAAP basketball season, last weekend of June.
UE just beat NU in their preseason tournament, so I have UST, ADMU, NU, and UE as my Final four contenders.
-
muka lumalakas uli ang alma matter ko (UE).. sana this time makabalik uli sa final four at hoping for the trophy hehe
-
my fearless forecast:
ADMU
UST
NU
DLSU
-
Games this opening weekend for the UAAP:
June 29 (MOA Arena) – 2pm FEU vs. UE; 4pm DLSU vs. UST
June 30 (MOA Arena)— 2pm Adamson vs. UP; 4pm Ateneo vs. NU
-
I'll go with UST.
VIVA SANTO TOMAS
-
-
undefeated ang feu ngayon, 7-0 sila sa 1st round. Makabawi pa kaya ang ADMU sa 2nd round? Abangan...
-
One of the best season to!
Prediction ko:
Feu and Ust will have twice to beat. I see Feu losing 3-4 games sa second round. Romeo will be checked kung babalik siya sa "selfish game" nya. Ust,as always, will be fighting. Key for ust is Jeric Teng and Aljon Mariano.
NU will be 3rd seed.
DLSU,ADMU,UE will be battling tight for the last slot.
DLSU-Man per Man,this is the MOST TALENTED TEAM in the UAAP. Kulang sa kanila,CHEMISTRY. Nadale sila ng coaching change few weeks before the season.
ADMU-One man team. If Ravena plays great, this team will enter final four. If Ravena fumbles, this team will fumble too.
UE-After Sumang and Mammie, who's the guy to take the big shot? Maganda lineup ng UE. Di pa nga lang hinog
Opinion ko lang po ito :)
-
DLSU is talented.
Correct me na lang if mali.
-
kahit anong team na basta wag lng ateneo
-

-
Tingin nyo, will bolick prosper in dlsu
-

Nag-MILO best kasi eh
Tingin nyo, will bolick prosper in dlsu
In his 3rd year siguro.
-
Will UP be a force to be reckoned with in the future?
-
Will UP be a force to be reckoned with in the future?
they need another 4star-5star recruit. Lao at Paras lang ang tingin kong long term asset ng UP. they need a scorer. Maybe Prince(from USTHS) or a junior HS from Xavier(i forgot the name)
-
Malakas b c Andre Paras? Parang one hit wonder LNG Nung clutch ncaa Siya eh
-
Malakas b c Andre Paras? Parang one hit wonder LNG Nung clutch ncaa Siya eh
Malakas rin naman nung hs sir. Finesse maglaro di tulad ng tatay nya. Matangkad at tatangkad pa. 6'5 na ata itong batang to.
-
nung hs mahina naman siya eh. malambot kasi I watch before. mas magaling pa si kobe.
-
Mukhang nagse-self destruct na ang FEU ah.
-
-
or maybe most likely it's DLSU's year
-
Mukhang nagse-self destruct na ang FEU ah.
i think lucky break lang talaga yung 7-0 start nila. To begin with, wala silang bigman na dominant. Again,as i said before,FEU's win will depend on Romeo's willingness to share the ball. 2 games sa second round,he didn't share the ball,0-2 sila.
-
Last year pa yan. Ronald Magtulis tapos tatay ni salva :))
-
-
pwede rin siguro mag champion NU. may MBE sila at rayray parks!
-
Remove Parks and Mbe,you'll have Alejandro,Rosario,Alolino,Javillionar. Much decent team than Ateneo without Kieffer.
Magchampion? Pwede.

Who'll win UAAP Basketball Championship this year? Here are my thoughts:
1.UST
-Why will they win? They have 5 pro-like talent(including abdul, even though he cant go to PBA). Teng,Mariano,Ferrer,Bautista and Abdul,is one of the best five in UAAP. Also coached by the fiery Pido Jarencio. Lalaban talaga ang uste.
-Why they wont win? First bench usage. Kim lo,Ed Daquioag and Paolo Pe ang role players nila. So its a short 8 man rotation for coach Pido. Next will be their point guard problem. As i said above, they have one of the best,if not the best five in UAAP,pero walang point guard.
Key to UAAP Championship: Jeric Teng and Karim Abdul
2.DLSU
-Why will they win? This is my alma mater eh! lol. Seriously, deepest roster in the UAAP. Combination of young guys and veterans. Compliment pa yung game nila. You can have Thomas Torres running the point,Vosotros running thru screens,Jeron Teng cutting thru lanes,Perkins setting screens and Norbert torres bullying down the lane. Maganda ang combination ng lineup ng DLSU this year.Deep bench too,you have Van Opstal,Gabby Reyes,Bollick,Montalbo,so on.
-Why they wont win? Coaching. Another reason is some players tendency to be a ballhog.
Key to UAAP Championship:Jeron's perimeter shooting
3.NU
-Why will they win? They have the BEST PLAYER in this season,Bobby Ray Parks. Parks can score, share the ball, rebound, defend. Also they have Mbe to bully the shaded lane. Deep roster too. And good coaching(Coach Altamirano)
-Why they wont win? Inconsistent outside/perimeter shooting. They have the talent to win it all,but the shooters should be on fire every game. Another thing is Mbe's will. If Mbe will dominate the inside, higher chance for NU to win it all. But seems like he's so lazy to work down there.
Keys to win a UAAP championship-Mbe's inside game and outside shooting(Rosario,Villamor and Alolino)
FEU
-Why will they win? They have the best guard tandem in UAAP,in the form of RR Garcia and Terrence Romeo. They have scrappy defenders and good outside shooters(Pogoy,Cruz). Maganda yung schemes nila offensively and defensively,so it means they are well coached.
-Why they wont win? Terrence Romeo willingness to share the ball. This FEU team will be measured on how Romeo shares the ball. Another reason is lack of dominant big man.
Keys to win a UAAP Championship? Romeo's assist numbers and conversion from the other guys.
UE
Why they will win? Good combinations by Coach Zamar. Leadership by Sumang. Young but deep and talented roster.
Why they wont win? Too young. Kumbaga,di pa hinog sa gera. Maybe next year for this UE squad.
Keys to winning-Sumang's super scoring and Charles Mammie's dominance in the paint.
ADMU
Why they will win? Kieffer Ravena's all around game and leadership.
Why they wont win? Too limited rotation. And Coach's inability to adjust ingame.
Keys to winning: Kieffer should put up a statline like 28 points,7rebounds,8 assist,2 steals and a block per game
Opinion ko lang po ito,so please kung may mali man sa tingin, pagusapan natin :) salamat

DLSU manila ka papi rage? hehe

-
kelan ba babalik si jeric teng?
di ko rin alam sir. Pero mga 1 to 2 weeks pa na healing time siguro
-
-
UAAP basketball resumes this Saturday, August 24. UP vs DLSU, then NU vs UST at Araneta Coliseum.
-
Jeron needs to play consistently for DLSU to win it all.
-
You guys think FEU is the favorite to win it all?
-
What a game between FEU and UE! Romeo and Sumang doing their best to lead their respective teams to victory, with the Tams coming out with a W in double OT, 98-94.
-
I'm cheering for the bulldogs at present, sana makahabol din ang archers
-
nagpapanalo ang Ateneo, winning 5 straight at minamalas ang FEU losing 3 of their last 4 games lately.
-
Agree Pinoymasterp!
-
La Salle is the surprise team for this season, sweeping the 2nd round is a brilliant run.

The only surprise I saw from my DLSU team was their chemistry and how Coach Sauler handled the team. They have a good team(they'll have a better team next season, and their best team will be 2 years from now). Sana magchampion ang DLSU this season,I still see a DLSU vs UST finals :)
-
Ateneo vs. UST tomorrow, whoever wins will get the last spot in the Final Four. The Final Four begins this Sunday.
-
Let's go UST! HEHEHEHE. Proud Thomasian here. :))
-
Kahapon, 0-of-9 yata sya.
-
UST vs. DLSU in the Finals. Too bad for NU, becoming the first #1 seed to be defeated by a #4 seed. Wonder what Parks will do next: will he return to NU next year, or go for the PBA draft?
-
:-\ mahirap mag-predict sa UAAP finals.... parehong gutom sa trophy... di mo sila masisi pareho kung bakit gutom sila, 5 years ba naman silang binigo ng Ateneo Blue Eagles... palagay ko it all boils down to heart and syempre who got the breaks sa end game... :(
-
I go for the Green team this time. :-X
-
my predictions were right. Hehehe. Toss-up. Im from the taft side, but Im going yellow this year. UST is peaking at the right moment. UST in 3 games,or La Salle in 2(2 close games).
-
Sayang ka NU! Lumabas kung sino talaga ang mas experienced when it comes to crucial games,,kitang kita ang collapsed ng NU sa last few mins..
It would have been a great campaign sa UAAP ng NU,,cheerdance, sa women's basketball
Volleyball naman for sure they will be a great contender too,,men's/women's division alike..Iba talaga ang nagagawa pag me budget ka..
Anyway Archers ako all the way :-X
Closed fight to, and I'm looking forward to see how Teng's will battle it out,,who will Alvin Teng cheer for? ???

UST squeaks past La Salle, takes Game 1
One more win.
Thanks to Karim Abdul’s big defensive stop in the waning moments, University of Santo Tomas hung tough to a thrilling 73-72 victory over erstwhile streaking La Salle Wednesday to move a step closer from clinching the UAAP Season 76 men’s basketball crown at the jampacked Smart-Araneta Coliseum.
Lanky forward Kevin Ferrer sizzled with 20 points, spiked by five triples–the last a booming one from beyond the arc for a 73-69 cushion, before the 6-foot-6 Abdul partially deflected a potential game-winning lay-up by La Salle guard LA Revilla and denied the Green Archers’ fightback just before time expired.
More than snapping La Salle’s nine-game winning streak, UST gained a golden chance of hoisting the men’s crown for the first time since 2006 with another victory on Saturday also at the Big Dome.
Four players, led by diminutive gunner Almond Vosotros’ 20 markers, scored at least 11 points for the Green Archers, who clawed back from 17 points down in the early goings, only to come up short against the Tigers’ resolute defensive stance in the crunch.
-
bawi tayo mamaya! go archers! >:( >:( >:(

Pasalamat kayo hindi kasali eskwelahan ko.

UAAP: Green Archers foil Tigers to force a Game 3
With its back pushed against the wall, La Salle valiantly fought against University of Santo Tomas Saturday afternoon and lived to fight another day.
The Green Archers got off to a swashbuckling start then pounded the smaller Growling Tigers at will to essay a 77-70 victory and force a sudden-death match in the UAAP Season 76 men’s basketball finals before an overflow Smart-Araneta Coliseum crowd.
Reeling from a painful 72-73 defeat in the opener last Wednesday, La Salle used its size and heft advantage to the hilt, racing to a quick 21-12 cushion and building as high as an 17-point lead before pulling away for good from the stubborn Tigers behind a decisive third-quarter charge. Ace wingman Jeron Teng scattered a team-high 19 points while the imposing duo of Norbert Torres and Arnold Van Opstal teamed up for 29 markers and hauled down 24 of the team’s 57 rebounds, typifying the Archers domination in the lane.
With the win, La Salle forced a deciding Game 3 on Saturday, Oct. 12, at the MOA Arena, marking the fourth time in their five finals meetings with UST that the series will go the full three-game route. Tigers skipper Jeric Teng waxed hot all game long with 28 points but his usually reliable teammates–Cameroon import Karim Abdul, Aljon Mariano and Kevin Ferrer–battled through foul woes and failed to get their usual offensive grooves, no thanks to the Green Archers’ revitalized defensive pressure.
An overflow crowd of 23,037 watched the game.
The Main Man: Held to just two points and six rebounds in Game 1, Norbert Torres came up big just when La Salle needed him the most. Proving he is not called as “The Bear,” the 6-foot-6 Torres muscled his way to a double-double of 16 points and 10 rebounds, seven of the off the offensive glass. He also pumped in seven big points in the third and ignited the team’s 7-2 closeout that paved the way for a methodical finish.
Honorable Mentions: Although he was outscored anew by his older brother Jeric, Jeron Teng had the last laugh on this one. The 6-foot-2 wingman dished out an all-around outing of 19 points, nine rebounds, four assists and three steals, underscoring why is considered “The King Archer.” Seven of his markers came in the first canto that enabled La Salle to take a 21-12 lead. Also bouncing back for the Green Archers was center Arnold Van Opstal, who also had a double-double of 13 points and 14 rebounds while holding down UST counterpart Karim Abdul to just 13 markers and nine rebounds.
Game Turning Point: In another classic battle, the Growling Tigers fought back from 17 points down and moved within 51-57 late in the third canto, suggesting another down the wire finish. However, the breaks fell into the place for the Archers this time. In a mad scramble, UST forward Kevin Ferrer was called for an unsportsmanlike foul on La Salle center Norbert Torres, who nailed two freebies and followed it up with a completed three-point play, enabling them to take control anew with a 64-53 buffer into the fourth canto.
He Said It: La Salle coach Juno Sauler: “It’s my choice (to play with seven players). We just played aggressive. Everyone played well, not just the bigs. Maybe we could have a better output in the fourth. My players appeared to be tired.”
La Salle (77) – Jeron Teng 19, N. Torres 16, Van Opstal 13, Vosotros 11, Revilla 9, Perkins 7, T. Torres 2.
UST (70) – Jeric Teng 28, Abdul 13, Mariano 9, Sheriff 6, Ferrer 6, Bautista 6, Lo 2, Pe 0, Daquioag 0.
Quarterscores: 21-12, 41-33, 64-53, 77-70.

-
2 crucial mistakes ni mariano....
sayang talaga
-
Mariano has revealed that he played with an ankle injury, which needs off-season surgery. Still, he shouldn't have been playing all those heavy minutes if he wasn't 100%.
Congrats to DLSU, and they should have more solid recruits next year in defending their title.
-
I told you so. . . the GREEN will bag UAAP 2013 basketball crown. :-X
-
Just a thought that Archers will have Ben Mbala, and Kobe Paras in 2015.
