Title: The Filipino Pride
Post by: mindy on May 17, 2013, 10:40:16 PM
Well, recently a lot of Filipinos have been bringing more pride to our country, from those discovered from you tube, athletes, artists or just anyone in any field. But for sure, we too are also proud being a Filipino...
It just feels good to see/hear/read about a Pinoy who is making it big or did something great...so i thought i´d make this one...
Post po kayo nang mga Pinoy that you know who´s worth to be in this list, (of course there are bunch of them)
I´d go first...this is (i guess) something new...she´s Anna Maria, she´s half pinay and she just made it to the Top 5 last night of Heidi Klum´s Germany´s Next Top Model, hopefully umabot ng top 3...she´s the crowd favorite, grounded, and she sings well too... she´ll be part of the music video of Blue (band) entitled "without You"... but most of all she´s one very proud pinay

Miss Universe Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach’s busy schedule continues to be filled with interviews and appearances in New York, three weeks after the prestigious pageant.

On Wednesday (January 13, 2016), the 26-year-old representative from the Philippines was visited in her apartment by Behind the Velvet Rope’s Arthur Kade for a short interview about the pageant fiasco, winning the crown, her philanthropic work, and the Philippines’ reception of her success.

Given the condition that “the Philippines is a country that loves people who are successful globally,” Kade asked Wurtzbach about the reception of her countrymen on the Miss Universe success.

Wurtzbach replied “Wow, I heard that everybody was so happy, everybody was celebrating, I was talked about on TV, on every show, in the news, front page in the newspaper. I mean, even all the brands and the ads had some sort of congratulations or tribute for me… It was crazy.”

“Like you said, yeah, you’re right. In the Philippines, it really is a big deal when they see their fellow countrymen do well in an international scene, in an international arena because it’s inspiring, it gives them hope. That’s why I think boxing, beauty pageants are huge in the Philippines,” she explained.

Talking about her pageant experience and host Steve Harvey’s gaffe in the announcement of winners, Wurtzbach admitted that she was “pressured” since she didn’t want to break the streak of the Philippines landing in the top five of the pageant.

“It was so exciting for me because, of course, I wanted to win just like everybody else. I was under a lot of pressure from my fellow countrymen and we’ve been doing so well in the past couple of years in Miss Universe. We’ve always landed up in the top five and I don’t want to be the one to break that streak,” she recalled. “I was under a lot of pressure but it was okay. It all worked out in the end.”

Pag sinabing Filipino Pride. naiisip ko agad mga OFW. mga pinoy na nagsasakripisyong magtrabaho sa banyagang lugar, magpakahirap para sa ikakagaan ng pamumuhay ng mga mahal nila sa buhay.
