Title: LeBron to win 4th NBA MVP award
Post by: babajee on May 04, 2013, 02:15:30 PM
James reportedly named MVP (4th time)

Only Michael Jordan, Bill Russell, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and Wilt Chamberlain have also won the award at least four times.

League commissioner David Stern will present the MVP trophy to James in Miami on Sunday, a day before the Heat begin their second round playoff series.

It's official, Lebron James is your Kia's Most Valuable Player of the 2012-2013 season. If the Heat forward deserves it, is the budding question on this topic.

The six foot eight Heat small-forward is the first player since Steve Nash in the 2005-2006 NBA season to win the MVP award and not have one forty point game during their respective seasons. Lebron had mind blowing numbers including almost twenty-seven points, about seven and a half assists, and eight rebounds per game.

Most people (or James haters) have responded to his MVP award with the fact that if you take Lebron and Carmelo Anthony away from their respective teams, The Knicks would be much more problematic than the Heat's star-studded lineup.

Michael Jordan, who people consider the best player in the history of the NBA, had four of his five MVPs with Hall Of Famer Scottie Pippen on his team. When Jordan retired his first time, we see how Pippen was averaging twenty-two points, almost nine rebounds, five and a half assists, three steals, and almost a block a game, while shooting forty-nine percent from the field. The Bulls won fifty-five games that season, without Jordan. It was pretty much proven he was not that valuable to his team in the sense that without him they wouldn't be good, but he still won four MVPs with pippin on his team. The reasoning for this is that it doesn't matter what your team would do without you, its about who is straight up the best, makes there teamates look the best, and makes the team look the best.

Carmelo Anthony is a great player, but he really isn't much of anything but a scorer. Lebron is the most all around, versatile player in the NBA and managed too lead the Heat too a whopping twenty-seven game win streak, and first in the Eastern Conference.

Lebron deserves the award, and if he keeps this up he undoubtedly will break the record for most MVPs by a player in their career.
