Montero is our Local pajero na US market. Gas, usually galing yan subic or port of irene. If you're talking about the Montero sport na local, It's better for me than the fortuner dahil para sa akin ay underpowered ang fortuner, sobrang kupad. And dahil pick up base, matagtag. car shopping? test drive lang chief, bago bili.. 8)

i drive na montero GLS V. 2.5 with paddle shifter, ok ang speed comfort maganda ang pakiramdam, hindi matagtag, pero dami kapa ipabago sa upuan di kasi leather... yung makina no probs... mabilis ang response...
Fortuner i tried na rin 4x4 3.0, ok naman siya new look sa interior, if sa makina naman mas mabilis siya sa montero 3.0 kasi... top speed 180kph lang. kaso medyo matagtag konti, iba yung feel mo sa fortuner maluwang space niya kung paluwangan...
im a mitsu satisfied uer lancer EX here...
but if papiliin ako between montero or fortuner? i choose fortuner white, maluwang kasi, upgrade ko lang shock para medyo malambot sakyan... :P

I'd probably go for Fortuner though ayoko ng automatic transmission. Dami ko kasing nababasa at nakikitang pictures ng Montero na nagwild at biglang nag sudden acceleration out of nowhere damaging the vehicle, properties and lives. I-share ko sana yung blog about it na nagpapakita ng madaming units ng Montero na na-wreck pero nagexpire na yung page. Alarming yung dami ng mga pictures at testimonies, from what I heard Mitsubishi is blaming it on the driver-side floor mat getting stuck on the gas pedal. There was also 1 unit of Estrada documented to have suffered the same problem. I don't know if Mitsubishi already took care of the unit problem but last I heard they were offering an 80-85% buy back option. This is just a heads up for those who owns or wants to own a Montero.

since i luv speed. i choose montero lalo na ung V6 engine mivec nila. power talaga. well malakas sa gas pero kung makakabili ka ng ganun di ibig sabihin meron kang pang gas hehehe. pero i choose that model. kukunti ata ang bumibili ng ganung model ng montero.

Sa tingin ko kaya kaunti bumibili ng V6 model kasi malakas sa gas. Yung fortuner vvt-i 7km/L city driving.

Hmm.. mahirap ah. Parehong maganda, pero pareho din madalas ko makita.
Siguro Fortuner. Medyo mas macho tignan para sakin compared sa Montero.
I kinda like the interior of the montero though. Medyo spartan kasi yung nakita kong Fortuner, too simple.
Though granted first gen yon.

Montero. Medyo sobra tagal na kasi ng Fortuner eh. Pero atleast sa Fortuner nafafacelift.

Both of them looks pleasing to the eyes but of course, you have to consider the maintenance factor din, unless, super no problem ang money syo,hehehe!
Based on my kuwentuhan's with Shops and mechanics, mas okay daw i-mentain ang Fortuner at di siya ganun ka maselan. I own two mitsubishi vehicles and yung binibilhan ko ng piyesa na dealer ng mitsu parts ay may Montero and yun nga, nai-kuwento sa akin na medyo maselan talaga lalo na ang engine.
So, in brief, both are powerful SUVs and pleasing to the eyes, pero for me na mas concerned sa maintenance, I'd prefer the Toyota Fortuner.

Mapapansin nyo naman parang antaas ng floor ng Montero. This makes it more unstable in cornering under highway speeds. Yung pinsan ko na may talyer sa probinsya madalas daw sila magka kliyente na Montero na tumataob.

agree ako sir, kasi kung gusto ng isang tao ang mabilis na sasakyan they need to by sports car.... at saka i'm a driver myself, sa Pinas we can not run more than a hundred km/hr kung sa mga national road ang daan... and alam ko lang na makakatakbo ka ng mabilis eh kung nasa expressway.... and wala akong nakikitang sharp curve sa mga expressway unless mag-overtake ng alanganin then tataob talaga ang SUV...

Yan talaga ang problema sa ganyan. Taubin.
Oo matibay yan kahit papaano on collision, wag ka lang tataob. Sa nipis ng bubong ng mga ganyan plus the overall body weight and size there is a real chance mapipi ka lalo kung ang gamit mo yung mga heavy weight na SUV.
It really is not meant for speed. It's for hauling stuff and cargo.

yes this is what i'm talking about... i know na mabibilis ang SUV but there power are not meant for flat surface and race track, instead they are meant for off road track.... maganda ang ilalim ng montero...

:-\ hmmmm.... luckily i have both... pareho lang sila matagtag para sa akin and its understandable b'coz they're both made to be tough kapag isa or dalawa lang passengers, i-try nyo na full seating capacity (7) at duon nyo naman makikita ang tamang lambot ng suspensions nila... masikip sa loob ng montero while very accomodating naman ang fortuner, mas mahal ng kaunti ang fortuner compared to his rival montero... Fortuners now come with a turbo package sa mga diesel variants unlike before... mas bruskong tignan ang fortuner while medyo feminine ang tingin ko sa montero.... syempre, mas maganda ang re-sale value ng toyota kaysa sa mitsubishi...

pero durability wise ay sa toyota ka na at madaling maka-avail ng piyesa kahit sa probinsiya

Well, hindi ko pa nakikita ang loob ng Fortuner...at hindi pa ako nakakasakay...
Sa Montero, madami din nmang nailalagay na gamit pero parang gipit yung likuran ng chineck ko...mabilis naman sa mga long drives...lalo na kung mga 4-6 hours yung usual na time...
and if, kagaya ng sabi ni sir jamesbond na same lang sila, i'd go with Montero...hahaha

Pareho lang maganda. kung saan mas mura duon ka na lang.
Montero gamit ko now at nakapag-drive na rin ako ng Fortuner. Nasisikipan ako sa Fortuner at mas kumportable ako sa Montero lalo na sa long drive.

Masikip fortuner at parang suv ng masa sa dami ng makikita mo, parang montero ganun din kahit saan ka tumingin, montero ang pipiliin ko

bottomline sir TS, it's up to you. what may be nice to someone may not be to you. What may someone regard as the best feature is not the one to you want. Test drive it all you want sir bago ka mag decide.
Here is my story though if you care to listen. I though I was happy with the Fortuner but bottomline it is underpowered and sluggish. The shocks are somewhat too soft for the highways but it is okay lang for rough roads but not OFF road.
So I switched to Montero. I like the handling better except that it is not as roomy as the Fort. Also, the recalls are somewhat alarming. Powerwise though, it is okay. So right now, I am saving for a Ford Ranger since I only use the Mont kapag more than 5 ang sakay ko but usually 2 or three lang so I am definitely going over to Ford. Why? Test drive one yourself to find out. 2.2 6-speed auto or manual is so hard to beat. hehehe Peace!
