I took courses in instrumentation and control, as they are part of the curriculum for CoE. But it's not my specialty. I can help out a bit though, as I'm familiar with sensors and PLCs.

ano ho ba ang scope of work ng isang Instrumentation and Control Engineer (IaCE) sa abroad? what basic knowledge do you need to shift from non-IaCE to IaCE?

scope ng work ng isang Instrumentation and Control engineer (ICE), depende sa mapapasukan mong company, kalimitan design kung nsa FEED, EPC, EPCM, or Process Control ka. pag Instrumentation and Control Technician (ICT) kalimitan nman nun ay nsa calibration ng instrument, sa mga calibration services company :-\

Sali ako,,

I'd took instrumentation and control as my subject, but I never use it on my job.

Electrical Engineer nga po pala ako,.  :bye:

kung sa construction naman mapupunta sa abroad, instrumentation will be part of E&I discipline (Electrical and Instrumentation) related kasi ang dalawa regarding work... ang pagkakaiba lang is yung installation and calibration ng instrument, loop check and function check whereas ang electrical is more involve in electrical equipment such as motors, high pot testing, megger testing.

Both electrical and Instrumentation have common activities like cable laying(HV cable, MV cable, and LV cable) for electrical and (Instrument cable) for instrument; cable tray installation.

Sa construction ako nagwowork at sa Mechanical section ako. Sa company namin, part ng mechanical ang Instrumentation, like BMS/Scada. Yan mostly scope ng work namin pag dating sa Instrumentation. Mostly HVAC application namin sa InCE.

halos lahat kc connected an instrumentation and control branch cia ng mga engr kaya cia nabuo in my opinion...
sa chemical instrumentation, measuring instrument analytical kalimitan online, grab sampling kc an chemical engr etc..
nsa maintenance nga pla ang work ko, instrumentation engr.

A bit of history ng Instrumentation

Actually, ang instrumentation is previously known as Electromechanical kasi combination talaga siya ng electrical, mechanical, at electronics. Sa Pilipinas if I'm not mistaken eh nagkaroon lang proper engineering course noong year 2000 sa Rizal Tech. Univ(RTU) formerly known as Rizal Tech College (RTC). But Instrumentation really start as a Technical course sa Don Bosco Tech College(DBTC) then adapted by Meralco Foundation, TUP, and RTC, and maybe some other school na hindi ko alam and of course TESDA have a short term course for this minimum of 6 months.

I know this kasi noong magkaroon ng Instrumentation and Controls Society of the Philippines we tried to get our school a membership, I was the vice president of Instrumentation society in our school then... ang opisina pa noong time ko ng ICSP eh sa UP Diliman. Then nagkaroon ng official gathering ng lahat ng member sa CCP complex for the annual convention i think its 1997 or basta late 1900's. This is the time when all members who wants to be certified as Instrumentation Tech and Engineers undergo series of seminars and then exams. Kasi wala pang board and Instrumentation Engineering at wala pang course ng Engineering, and hanggang ngayon i think wala pa ring board but it's on the process though mayroon ng Engineering course sa RTU . During this convention also nagkaroon ng very first Quiz bee for all the school na member ng ICSP...the very first quiz bee  was won by RTC, 2nd is Meralco and third is DBTC. And i'm one of the member ng DBTC, was really a close fight,  bakit kasi may points ang formula kahit mali ang sagot(bitter...hehehe)

Anyway, as far as i know...instrumentation is a course just like Benjamin Franklin who is famous in the saying "Jack of all trades but master of none!". This is really true kasi, Instrumentation really covers a lot of field basta my controls then instrumentation is needed kaya patok ito sa mga planta may it be during construction or operation, like sir gah is saying about BMS/SCADA, PLC, control valves, etc. At kung well verse ka sa instrumentaion, reading a P&ID and process flow diagram is easy. It's really a challenging field of work kasi it also deals with logic kung control and process ang pag-uusapan, sayang nga at hindi ko na ito napapractice masyado kasi nasa planning and scheduling na ang field of work ko.
